In today’s episode we are hitting the historic California Route 66 to spend 3 full days thrifting and hunting down treasures! We'll visit vintage shops, Antique stores, thrift stores and even pawn shops! The only question is how am I going to fit all my finds in my luggage!?! 😱😍

My favorite college professor said in class one day “not to feel pity for the elderly… you don’t even know if you’ll be lucky enough to live that long. They already did!” Age just means you get to enjoy this wild life a little longer ☺️ I’m soaking in every minute of it I can! 💃

That “landscape jasper “ bracelet is lovely! Did you know, that stone is also known as “picture jasper” and a main source of it is actually Eastern Oregon. Our own home state. I actually grew up in eastern Oregon right across the road from an old rock hound who made this kind of jewelry from this exact kind of stones. I used to watch him in his shop and would also go out “mining” with him out in the owyhees. Back in the 60’s.

Yes! My dad would rock hunt in eastern Oregon for those stones. I have several of his jewelry pieces he made. Brings back memories. 😊

So excited for you to go to Italy!! I’ve been to Venice, Florence, Rome and the Amalfi coast, and it was the most magical place… better than Disney World or Vegas! My husband sang (badly) to me as we floated in a gondola in Venice. Best memories ever. So happy for you!

My grandparents on both sides were from Holland too! I was in Europe too in the 80s! Italy was one of my favorite countries. Watch your back Italian men really do pinch your bottom. Lol. Florence was my favorite too, but Assisi was a beautiful small "city" worth visiting. Got some beautiful Murano glass and some hand blown glass vases and candlesticks in Venice also a breath taking cant miss city. Rome and Capri oh so wonderful. I envy all of you who will be visiting Italy.
Leaving Goodwill empty handed is what a lot of the rest of us do on a usual basis. I live in southern AZ and every once in awhile I come out with one good thing.
I live in southern AZ also, and hardly ever come out of a Goodwill with anything that I'm thrilled about. Guess I'll just have to be satisfied with watching these fantastic thrifting videos that find awesome things.

Hello from Japan! The letters on the back of the photo from Japan says, “Scenery of Suzukawa”. You can find Suzukawa, (Fuji city), on Google Maps close to Mt. Fuji. Another interesting thing is the letters are written from right to left and you can immediately tell that this is old, because between 1940 to 1952 the direction of writing letters were switched to writing from left to right. So this photo seems to be taken before 1952. Thank you Laura for sharing your thrifting adventures!

Omg I grew up in Claremont! It's such a cute little suburb - I'm so glad you like it! You should try the Nosy Neighbors coffee shop, it's right next to Vintage Odyssey. The honey lavender latte (sometimes not on the menu, but they'll make it for you) is divine!

The stamp on Japanese photo says "View from Suzukawa." Suzukawa is in City of Fuji, which is a home of Mt. Fuji. Great Find!

Route 66 runs right through my town Evansville Indiana I'm Carol Burnett
10 years ago we visit America with our son and daughter for 4 weeks. After a week New York we flew to Phoenix, hired a car and went to all the beautiful places and parks such as Grand Canyon, Sedona, Bryce, Zion, Death Valley, Las Vegas , Sequoia, Yosemite, San Francisco, route 101, San Diego. We went camping and sometimes we slept in a hotel. And off course we took a ride on Route 66. So it was wonderfull to see places you visit we visited too. And so many Americans thought we were crazy to do this in 4 weeks. But it was the Holliday of my life.
And now you’re going to do that to Europe. Fantastic. But I’m regretting you will not visiting the Netherlands haha, cause then there was a little chance I might have to run into you.

What an adventure your family took!! The memories must be so special ☺️ I might be visiting Amsterdam (very briefly..) on another trip this fall 😉 🤫 But a trip to the Netherlands to visit more of the Northern Holland region my ancestors are from and see some of their burial sites is something we hope to make happen in the next few years ❤️❤️

So happy for you to celebrate your 40th birthday in Europe. I celebrated my 40th in Paris, France, London & Wales. It was awesome. That was 36 yrs. ago & I still feel young at heart.

Ha!!!! I lived in Rancho Cucamonga for 16 years before retiring and downsizing to the Temecula area which is only about 50 miles southeast...so not very far. We actually would use Foothill Blvd to get home when the freeway was stop and go, which is pretty common in Southern California. So fun to see all the places you visit that are familiar to me 💜💙💚💛🧡
How fun - my old stomping grounds. I lived in Claremont during grad school, thrift shopped all over the San Gabriel Valley. My favorite ones were in Pomona and Pasadena. Love Rhino Records and the folk music shop across the street.

Love traveling with you! I backpacked through Europe with friends in 1980. It was the trip of a lifetime. We were there 3 weeks and I had to call home once a week collect to my parents! I'm looking forward to seeing it again on your adventures. God bless

When in London go to Ffiona's in Kensington for dinner! And the 1st Sunday of the month, if you're in London, go to the Chiswick Car Boot Sale, it's like a flea market (6am - 12noon)
We travel full time and we've noticed Illinois and Florida have the lowest thrift store prices on mid century and vintage finds. You probably already know this. Lol! Love love love your channel. Always improves my day when I can sit down and relax to one of your videos. 😘
Love the Japanese photo as well! I was fortunate enough to visit Tokyo with my husband and son, to celebrate his 19th birthday. Loved the gardens and the food. It’s like no other place I’ve been to.

🤗 oh Laura Girl that was nice, I grew up small town Route 66 , my very first thrifting adventure was a thrift shop on 66 when I walked across town at 8 years old and bought a mink collar and an angora sweater😂those were some of my old stomping grounds, I’m so excited for your trip and being able to tech tag along!!!
Nice score on the marble butter keeper! They're so great to have if you enjoy making composite butters because they keep their contents the right combination of soft & spreadable but also cool & mold-free.

I know you don't collect repro vintage Victorian but my heart skipped a beat when you passed by the Angel print in the beginning with that great frame. I would have snatched that up in a heart beat!

Garage sale warehouse moved to Lake Oswego btw. New location. There is a cute older lady origonally from LA that I met upstairs. She has some pretty awesome mid century treasures and textiles in her booth. I told her to check out your videos 💕

Being a long-time Thrifter myself...San Diego Goodwills are such a disappointment! There is No such thing as a "Discount". No 40% for Purple or a 50% off day. NOP! You can get a big 10% Off if you are a Senior & they even card you to verify you even Qualify for that Huge 10% reduction in price. Come On...I'm 73 and you've gotta card me? The Salvation Army here is a gold mine. And a few other Thrift stores are definitely fun. But our Goodwills are just frustrating. Because we know and see what the rest of the country does in their stores. Thanks for all you teach us. You are such a joy. Cathleen
