  • Tami Simon speaks with Adyashanti on how we can support ourselves at the deepest levels amid isolation and uncertainty. Subscribe to Sounds True for more: bit.ly/2EAugMf
"All of spirituality is about connection," Adya tells Tami, "not only with others, but also with one's life, one's own heart, and our true nature." When we find ourselves in solitude, he says, a different kind of connection becomes available-an opportunity to rediscover something deep, meaningful, and essential within ourselves.
In this vein, you'll also explore:
-How solitude can lead us to deeper levels of connection
-Why the act of choosing to face a situation-even when it's caused externally and is out of our control-paradoxically empowers us
-Leaning into our experience with a compassionate heart
-How depersonalizing our suffering allows us to get closer to it
-A practice for facing unexpected, overwhelming emotions
-What you most deeply care about, and how you’ll support that greater purpose
-Why our emotional responses to crises are just as important as our actions, and more
"When things get challenging enough, when we feel overwhelmed, all of the usual spiritual tricks break down," Adyashanti notes. But when things get intense enough, it also opens opportunities to grow that could not happen at any other time.
We hope that right now, perhaps especially now, you find unexpected connection and emergence awaiting within.
Sounds True was founded in 1985 by Tami Simon with a clear mission: to disseminate spiritual wisdom. Since starting out as a project with one woman and her tape recorder, we have grown into a multimedia publishing company with more than 80 employees, a library of more than 1500 titles featuring some of the leading teachers and visionaries of our time, and an ever-expanding family of customers from across the world. In more than three decades of growth, change, and evolution, Sounds True has maintained its focus on its overriding purpose, as summed up in our Mission Statement.

Being alone helped me find the love for myself that I was always trying to get from other people.

In solitude I learned how to harness my inner wisdom. I believe there's a voice inside each of us that doesn't use words. The only question is: Are we willing to listen? 🧡

It’s always the truth too, do I listen?
      Rarely. Lol.
      Fear blocks the way regularly.
That “still small voice” doesn’t demand, it has no follow up or justifications for its whispers, it just says what it says and then it’s up to me to listen and follow through, or not as the case may be.

Adya is talking to us directly and precisely. His words are not meant for the ego to interpret. They are direct teachings to awakening.

This was so subtle and deep at the same time. Really beautiful. Lots to contemplate. And Tami, you’re always great at asking, and articulating, meaningful questions. Thank you both.

Let go of what has passed.
Let go of what may come.
Let go of what is happening now.
Don’t try to figure anything out.
Don’t try to make anything happen.
    Relax, right now, and rest.

Yes she is great and love that they talk about the collective pain and suffering here 2020. Easy to sit alone in your own love & light bobble away from everything like I do and just say that out there has nothing to do with me. Ram Dass talks about this dilemma too, basicly how can you be in the world and not of the world, see all the pain/ suffering and keep an open heart. A difficult practice, but we can do it 😊🙏♥️

I got to hang with Adya in a dream last night. That has been my place of connection lately. Seems about as real as this mad world. And usually far more enjoyable. 🙃

      Ah ah ah. Me too.
I was busy changing outfit at his dream retreat.
What identity will I wear today?
      Yoga? Mediation? Gym? Bear chest?
And at the same time no one was there. Just seeing the question and decision like an old record playing in an empty room (even though people where there)
      Enjoy

The end result of grief should be greatful/ gratitude. For instance, one is greatful to be alive. I find this for myself so it probably applies to others

None of our therapeutic models, meditation practices, including the student/teacher dynamic, was ever formatted for the world we are living in today. After enlightenment within the current frames of reference are the TED Talks, interviews, occasional workshops, retreats, sesshins, or whatever to give one the sensation of awakening as something extraordinary, rather than as the entry point for the greater unified awakening of societies and cultures as a whole. Meditation practice is over when the ground beneath one's zafu begins to quake.

Tami, somebody said"I can not get through my breakup." I think" What can you do? Lying on floor and cry?", so the only things we can do is accept the pandemic and accept our pain without condition.
