As a mother, the most painful thing is knowing that your babies will not get to know their wonderful father, feel the unconditional love from him, and all the other things memories they would have.
As a mother I think the most painful thing is loosing your child. That's a pain that never goes away. Your children going before you. I feel for his wife because the agony of waking up alone. So tragic. Hopefully she trust God to strengthen her because he will if her faith is firm.
Prayers and condolences to Philips family friends and loved ones. I was hoping beyond hope this day would not come. Rest in peace Philip, you are in the hearts of trail hikers and runners everywhere.
As a fellow runner, this one hit really hard. I prayed he would be found alive, but as the weeks went by it didn’t seem likely. The volunteers and municipalities who were involved in the search were truly amazing. So much love to the family. It made me reexamine how I go out for trail runs. I’ll never leave without adequate food, my cell phone, and proper research of the path. Rest In Peace Philip.
As I followed your story I prayed for Phillips safe return. I'm so sorry for your loss...no words can Express how sad I feel for your family. Watching this video and hearing your words about never taking a day with your loved ones for granted...beautiful words of advise. Thank you...Blessings to your family 🙏
That smile on mamas face when asked how they would like Patrick remembered 🥺💔💔💔💔 wife is absolutely broken . I am so sorry for your loss its obvious Patrick has left his mark here on earth what a special boy 💙 I know they are all suffering soo sooo much but will continue to move fwd w each others love and support , that is an absolute beautiful family
He was found in a remote area, thats intended to be off limits to people. Usually state and county parks in CA post signs that its designated for wildlife -sensitive habitat, and people are not to enter beyond a certain point. The nearst trail to him is an unmarked / unmapped game trail that (many think) led him to this location.
Yeah he was basically was twice removed from the traill, he apparently missed a turn& continued on to a closed section of the park for a ways, & then ionto a game trail which isn't an actual trail it's a sort of natural trail that carved out by animals...
What a wonderful loving family, I am in total shock he is dead. I wonder what the hell happened to him? It’s horrible that the actual authorities never found him, and it took a volunteer to finally find him a month later too. God bless your whole family, I feel for you, and feel your pain
No, it isn’t horrible. He went missing in a wilderness. There aren’t enough “authorities” to guarantee that a missing person can be found quickly. Such searches always require large numbers of volunteers. What is horrible is that he didn’t have his phone with him, which would have helped locate him.
The family kept insisting he was there waiting to be rescued. Must have been the Father who had a spiritual bond with his son. I always knew when something was wrong with my oldest since he was a baby and I was never wrong. God will sustain them.
Its not clear to my knowledge. He got off a regular trail that’s created by wild animals and can be misunderstood as a path of other hikers/runners. As I read it he might got have lost orientation due to the heat and couldn’t make it back from that area. Very tragic. I send him love. :(
My condolences🙏 may he rest in peace! This is just tragic!! How can something like this happened?? Is this place dangerous to take a jog?? Are joggers/ runners in danger?? The authority have to tell us! Women always be on the look out and take pepper spray! And men too🙏🙏
His wife said it was an accident. Police have been suggesting heat exhaustion which can kill a healthy person in about two hours. He was not adjusted to the temperature and he had a long run less then 24 hours before. His body was found under shade trees a 1/4 away from where he would have been running. It looks like he accidentally turned down a deer trail and it took him the opposite way of his car. He must have been in delirium from heat stroke and couldn’t remember where his car was. As heat exhaustion set in it’s believed he sought the shade and then passed in that spot. Maybe something else will be released by police but as of now this is what his friends and the basic police statements have offered to the public
I want to know too for peace of mind that he wasn't murdered and he just got heat stroked... gotta put them rumors down too. With 2 land owners not wanting to have their land searched... And possibly pulling a rifle on some search members..
I would think runners high = high temperature = lack of hydration = poor judgment = bad cocktail . May he rest in peace. And for all the runners. Maybe stay home if its over 85° and you plan on going on a long distance run...
Why did the police restart the search after giving up? And how did the drone miss it? When the drones have crazy sensors. Like heat detection and landscape sensor, tree noise cancelling
Oak forest tree canopy can be very thick and inpenetrable using line of sight visual search techniques. Only way to see is from ground level, beneath the the tree canopy. Even then there are shadows, ravines, tall brush/ grasses and terrain dynamics that can very easily conceal objects from sight. Philip was not a large statured individual either. Some state parks have trail cameras to track wild life populations... but not all parks have them. Even the most advanced drones still fundamentally rely on line of sight inspection methods.
At least she was strong enough to speak. For some people who just lost a loved one and found out he or she was dead, they would have broke down and have no mood to speak.
Given the grief, anxiety, trauma roller coaster she's been on since July 10 (!!!)... I'm amazed shes upright and even able to speak. I would not expect someone in this scneario to be fully cognizent. I think shes doing the best she can.
She is desperately trying to keep it together. WTH. Let your loved one die and you get confirmation the day before and hold a press meeting the next day. You try to keep it together then. I am sure she and her family does not need your BS.
... yeah shes probably still in shock. PTSD / depression would be a concern as well in the fture. Its not every day you suddenly become a widow and a single parent of two very young todlers. If she is a stay home un-employed mother, her world has completely turned upside down in just about every way possible. Absolutely heartbreaking.
Are you kidding me?! I encourage you to delete this disgusting comment. Jen went to MIT as well as Phil and she probably is capable of earning more money than you.
Bless him and his family - very sorry to hear this - RIP, Philip
Bless Your Hearts
I Offer My Condolences to Your Family.

Rest in Peace
My condolences even though I never met Philip he was a brother as a fellow trail runner.

😢 I'm so so sorry for your loss...
Condolences to the family ... but how on earth did such an extensive search miss the body which was so close to a trail ?
He was found in a remote area, thats intended to be off limits to people. Usually state and county parks in CA post signs that its designated for wildlife -sensitive habitat, and people are not to enter beyond a certain point. The nearst trail to him is an unmarked / unmapped game trail that (many think) led him to this location.
He was not close to a trail. I think he was actually outside of the park boundary. There were thousands of acres where he might have been.
Yeah he was basically was twice removed from the traill, he apparently missed a turn& continued on to a closed section of the park for a ways, & then ionto a game trail which isn't an actual trail it's a sort of natural trail that carved out by animals...
My thoughts are with you and your family. My condolences to all of you

Something is weird here. Just under a mile from his route? Was it a known route!?
RIP Philip. 🙏

What a truly inspiring mother and father to speak from her heart shattered by this tragedy. My sincere condolences 💐
This is absolutely tragic and heartbreaking.
Many strange cases similar to this covered by missing 411 david paulides an ex-detective from san jose, ca.
God bless her so sorry for her loss must be hard everything happens for a reason
How did he pass?
He died doing what he loved 🥰
So sorry for your loss. My condolences to you and your families.
Now, where are all the people who blamed the wife? Back to troll caves I guess.
🥀 🙁🙏🏼
Peace be with the family and friends. Everything she said was so beautiful 💔💝😭

His smart watch should be able to tell for how long he was alive. Smart was without GPS records activities.for longer time.
why man why?

@@r2488 ohh wow thanks for explaining it 🙏 this is sad!
The coroners office has not released the autopsy report yet. It would be wrong to speculate at this point.
Rattlesnakes, Bigfoot, mountain lions etc...
I too demand the Authorities to tell us!!
Jesus Christ
how did he die..condolences to the family
That’s what I want to know
I want to know too for peace of mind that he wasn't murdered and he just got heat stroked... gotta put them rumors down too. With 2 land owners not wanting to have their land searched... And possibly pulling a rifle on some search members..
We don’t know yet but probably some underlying medical condition that heatstroke may have aggravated. My guess though.
I dont think the coroners office has released the autopsy report yet.

These hills need to have better trails and lightening and fence
You cannot control every moment of life…..

Drone cannot see dark shadowed area or non-heat radiating body
@@MuvoTX oh ok. I’m just perplexed. Even with military grade drones. They were unable to find him in that time frames. Sad. Tho
Weird how the wife didn’t have much to say about how they wanted him to be remembered but jumped at the question about the theories and speculations…
At least she was strong enough to speak. For some people who just lost a loved one and found out he or she was dead, they would have broke down and have no mood to speak.

lost her meal ticket/cash cow. RIP

Do you know who this woman is? Wow
What kind of hatred possesses you to take pot shots at a newly widowed mother of 2 young children?
She makes more money than your whole 3 generations combined. Lol.
Be nice people she just lost her husband and has 2 young kids to take care and lots of responsibility for her in the coming years ☹️
