his fellow pundits know exactly what he is like they were taking the piss, they knew he would hate England being successful so they talked about the final knowing how much it would piss Roy Kean off, there was no arrogance no complacency just a need to make fun of Mr Kean and the media put their own slant on it

Hard to hear when we’ve just lost in the semi but Keane knows about winning and having a single minded winning mentality. He might come across as a grumpy bastard but he talks a lot of sense. Think about his display in the Champions League semi final against Juve- that’s the sort of attitude England needed...

I remember a jam packed pub in north Dublin, to get to USA '94 we needed to get a result in Belfast. National angst ridden pandemonium. Psychological hysteria. The barman puts on England V San Marino which was on earlier. San Marino score within 30 seconds. The place explodes with hysterical laughter. Tension released. We'll always love them for that.

Russell Newton exactly. All these people criticizing us for getting excited and daring to dream. Fuck em! I’d hate to live in a country where people only show enthusiasm after winning a trophy or making a final, as Roy Keanu was suggesting here. We may not have won the thing, but for the last month England has been absolutely buzzing, with wall-to-wall sunshine, barbecues, Wimbledon and most importantly, genuine belief and pride in our football team - something we haven’t experienced since about 2006!

Crean is an Irish surname anglicised from Ó Croidheáin meaning "descendent of Croidheán", the name Croidheán is derived from the word "croí/croidhe" meaning "heart".

Well said Ian Wright. None of the England haters wanted us to get to the semi-finals let alone the final. Well done England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿.

For some reason it’s a crime for the English to be optimistic or positive. Even when they’re talking about themselves in a self-deprecating way, foreigners see it as arrogance for some reason.

David Sim just like keane was over hyped as a player surrounded by better players. What did he do for Ireland when playing with average players?

The title smacks of Irish bitterness. How sad some Irish people (not all) were reduced to cheering on anyone England played and then belittling a young, unfancied England side's achievements.
Roy Keane is a dyspeptic toad. He has nothing good to say about anything or anyone. Keane might grow up one day, but I'm not holding my breath. Sad really because he was a brilliant player.
