      What’s up buddy just wanted to say thanks for all your edits! I’m a retired moto guy who decided it would be a great idea to buy my first board and learn to skate. I thought my background in racing would help me out with the process, let’s just say there has been a slight learning curve! Lol you guys make it look too easy! Anyways again just wanted to say thank you again and keep them coming! 🍻

      @@astreet339 Ay man that means a lot to hear this!! Always a learning curve to new things, I actually started on moto then found myself skating more when I was younger.

    Loved this behind the scenes look. Your mindset and explanation on storytelling is so rad. Def going to have to step up my game for my channel and give some of these techniques a try! Going to have to rethink how I shoot my videos, but they def need to be spiced up anyways!

    Very cool. I have a habit of setting up my tripod & phone and just stagnantly filming a trick until I get the make. Never even dawned on me to move tripod occasionally in between tries. . Any tips/tricks for making skate clips on iPhone more interesting? Dig it...Look forward to more!

    are you still using a fujifilm camera to shoot? If so what camera and lens combos. I have a fuji but am lost on what lenses I should look into considering my past with the camera has been strictly car photography

    • @thorgoodlife1865
      @thorgoodlife1865 Před 2 lety

      Get as wide of an angle lens as possible. Good auto focus is key for follow filming. There’s some good inexpensive fisheyes out there, but they’re usually manual focus. If it’s a mirrorless camera, you can get various adapters and use about any lens ever made. There’s awesome vintage lenses on eBay for peanuts. Again mostly manual, but vintage lenses have tons of individual character that modern lenses don’t. If your follow filming with a manual lens, just try to keep the distance between you and the rider constant. Filming from a tripod, you can use whatever lens and just move the camera back or forward till you have the framing that works. In this era, an iPhone with Filmic Pro and a clip-on fisheye is the most convenient option. Spend less on camera gear and drop some money on a decent microphone. You can do a lot in post with mediocre footage. Nobody wants to listen to bad audio.

    What about filming tricks again that got cut out? Like i landed a nice line the other day, but my fakie flip and half cab flip were out of shot. Should i film just the fakie flip and halfcab flip alone or try get them in a line while only filming the last 2 tricks?

    • @ZackDowdy
      @ZackDowdy  Před 4 lety

      Great question, I think if you didn't get another clip to stitch it together you'd have to cut it early for sure.
