Would also be nice to see a community manager who has favorite ship consoles and traits (like us players do) when showcasing a stream.
I like the way Spencer actually takes the time to show how the ship, seating, traits, consoles, etc tie into game play, that makes sense because that’s what I l👀k at also when new ships come out.
How will this new ship and accessories fit into my build.

2,500 secondary shielding for 20 seconds? We just recently got a trait for 18,500 secondary shield for 30 seconds AND up to 15% weapon cycle haste rolled into one. Geebus.
Which trait?

My biggest concern is that Borticus is the one training the new DECA devs, so unless they will get creative once his influence is gone, I don’t like that this is where things are starting.
Can we just appreciate the first new Klingon ship in half a decade?
Same with the romulan, I believe.

What would have been fun is to have Proton weapons come with these ships, FED Proton Beam, KDF Proton Heavy Cannon and ROM AUX Proton Heavy Cannon. Which unlocks buying them from the Dil Store and includes a non set Proton Omni and Proton Turrets in both normal and AUX flavours.
At the same time change the Proton Isomags to include Energy weapons damage.
Think those would have made a very interesting new play style that would have had far more interest and value to this bundle intoducing a 'new' energy weapon type. Really wouldn't have been much work to do these things.
I like the ship looks and will pick up the ships individually.
Also for those who are wondering, yes you can buy the dyson science outfit from the fleet spire tailor for dirt cheap
This is what you get when you have devs who are openly disdainful of their player base. Hopefully DECA can turn that around.
They are good looking ships but that isn't enough for me to spend money on them in sto these days. I'll throw money at things that I can use on other ships like traits and consoles. Bort coming back means dark times for power creep which translates to me saving a lot of money till he is replaced once again.
The accessories are hilarious, I agree with your assessment on those. I think the ships are decent allrounders and a good addition to the cstore. Not every ship must have meta impact, I think the cstore is a good place to put almost top tier ships. Also I think it will be a lot of fun to play with these (I really like science destroyers), but I'll probably get only one with a free coupon.
The T5 Romulan uses a singularity. Concerning these ships, I do like how they look. Never was a fan of the T5 KDF and FED versions, but I always liked the T5 Rom. These T6 all look good, although I'm not too wild for the Fed version, but it does look better to me than the T5 one. IMHO. I am leaning to get these new ships, I am not impressed with the traits, but maybe I can make it work for my playstyle.

I agree completely that the accessories are absolute trash tier. Valdore console continues to reign supreme if you want to restore shields. So glad that's unlocked now.
I love the KDF/ROM ones from visuals to the stats. Sure they're not amazing but I still fly my Titan all the time and it's not anywhere near a top ship but I just love it. Those animated pop out guns on the kdf one are amazing. I assumed it would be 12000z and no way I would have considered the bundle at that price and figured I'd just use t6 coupons on the two but at 7500 it's really tempting. Get the FED ship too that I do somewhat like, T6 token to use on something else, and since I'm only going to really fly two of the ships I'll have 2 tokens leftover. For $75 that's really not bad and $65 is a steal but I don't know if I have the patience to wait that long. My only concern with dropping 7500 now is maybe not having enough zen leftover for a legendary later this year, but with Bort being back, as you said, future ships this year will probably continue to be a bit disappointing stat and/or accessory wise.
So definitely going to get the KDF/ROM just not sure if coupon, on their own, or bundle yet. Probably make final decisions after your and other videos are up tomorrow so can see them in action since we only saw the FED one in combat during the stream.
As you mentioned the Valdore console, got a question about it if you don't mind.
In the past "people" always stated to not focus on shields as e.g. borg removes them anyways. So you should only focus on hull and 'Hull Image Refractor' was a goto advice to add some surviveability to a DPS build.
I'm always late in noticing a meta change, but now I see everyone rocking the Valdore console. Do you know why a shield console is being favored over a hull console where is the past hull was the name of the game.
I'm trying to understand why people now prefer the Valdore console over e.g. Hull Image Refractor. Like does Valdore console have better CD? Is there a relation to a common trait where full shields equals better stats (like having full hull through hull image refractor helped with Tyler's duality).

@@giantdutchviking The Valdore console's chance to heal is per shot of each weapon, not per firing cycle like most other procs. So it pumps out an immense amount of shield healing during CSV or FAW.

After watching your stream, I decided I wanted none of these, despite the good looks. However, I have now decided to swap in a T6 token for the KDF version to have a play
This feels like a bunch of people worked on this bundle, all assuming someone else working on it would be the one to make it worth a damn.
Around 2.5K secondary shields... how long would that last against a normal difficulty borg sphere? like 3 secs tops? maybe if the secondary shields would be 350K that trait would be worth the 3K zen for the ship. The bundle is not worth it, and to think we were all b*tching about 14th anniversary bundle being "underwhelming". I only fear what the new legendary ships and bundle would be this year.
The bundle is fine there more to the game than max deeps
I might grab the Romulan ship, see if I can drag my ROM captain out of his Legendary Valdore 🤔
If Cryptic wants to be stingy with only 8 experimental starship upgrade tokens knowing they're leaving us players/customers 1 short for all 3 Dysons then I have no problem waiting till a -35% sale till I even consider buying. Dilemma is I like the KDF Dyson's console best, & none of the 3 are good/great but I like the Rom Dyson's look the best (B5 Whitestar). Cryptic neuters their hybrid ships too much & there's plenty of good ships with better focuses. The bundle's "fluff" is old gear & nothing new.
I’ll pass on this bundle but once the legendary Valdore bundle goes on sale I’ll be sure to pick that one up
The legendary valdor is a very good option. Hanger bay, 5 forward weapons and an experimental weapon. It's hot.

2 points.
1 - given several of previous ships traits and consoles just flat out don't work even now (not even going near the sirius and being told they won't ever fix it) - what's the point of buying anything from them.
2 - Kael and his typos - he can't be surprised that they want him gone

@@jimmyoflogerty9982 console side of the game - the console doesn't work and the visuals are broken - no way to kitbash.
My initial thoughts when the stream was going on were 'not a chance in hell' mainly due to the console/traits and the fact that Kael never puts a build on the stream to show what the ships can do. The guys that did the graphics on the ships really knocked them out the park, despite the Rom being the Whitestar :D. I do have other ships for Sci type builds, so definitely won't be getting the bundle. There just isn't anything in there that will help me improve my play style in the game. If I have a spare T6 Coupon, and I have all the other ships I want, then I may get the Romulan one purely for looks.
I had really hoped that these ships would have had some better traits and consoles in them that would have added something more to the game. I was sitting all ready to buy the bundle.
As I've said before, and during the stream, we have had some really impactful content lately, and with the Pahvan Omni being proton and a console boosting proton damage, I had hoped that these ships would have been the start of a the proton damage revolution resulting in being able to buy or craft arrays, omnis etc. of the proton damage type.
This year is probably going to be a bit rough with the change over, but I am very confident that things will improve next year so I am willing to weather the storm just now.
You could buy them because you enjoy the ship I know that's a impossible concept for your kind to grasp but not everything has to be about max deeps
@@elvangulley3210 so apart from ‘my kind’ having a different play style to yourself presumably, what’s wrong with having an opinion and stating that the bundle doesn’t add anything to my play style therefore the bundle isn’t for me. Some players enjoy the ships in the game regardless of specs. Some enjoying doing builds and improving their DPS records. Games big enough for all play styles.
@MMTheBatman because your kind doesn't say for me you state your preferences as the only way which scares away other players who might want the bundle don't we have enough 5_3 heavy weapon having hangar bay having perfect console and bridge seating kill everything in 1 shot ships in game as is

I didn’t say that this bundle wasn’t for anyone. I also stated that I may get the Rom ship at a later date for its looks. I also said that that I had hoped the console/traits would have added something to the game.
I fail to see where I stated what my play style was in the original comment, not that it was ‘the only way’. Nor did I state any preference to weapons layout or seating or anything along those lines.
So it would appear, that because I do not find value for myself in this bundle, you have decided to leap to conclusions simply because I am not buying the bundle.

feels like they made a typo and forgot to add the extra two zero's on the end of each console.
in theory if he wants to push shield, secondary shield and drain they could make some general game changes. eg
- secondary shields stack and only take damage when under 90% hull.
-or on elite, torpedoes deal 6x more damage against unshielded targets or targets without secondary shields. borg weapons deal stacking increasing 10% more damage each time they hit hull
-or they could make secondary shields scale with EPG so 1 epg gives 2% bonus to that 2000 secondary shield number. so at 400 epg you would get 1.6 mill secondary shields.
-Could also buff drain in general so it gives 1 to all power levels for every 10 drain. this way a drain build would buff your weapon and Aux power dramatically scaling damage.
but these would be sweeping changes that would effect the entire game and need so many balance tweaks :(
with a pay to win game like STO balance is always hard because its more difficult to make changes(nerfs) after people have paid money.

I think we need a good C-stosre Excelsior, I would have also accepted a Dyson version.
I really wish they would make new areas to explore (like add in to the Dyson sphere area) that say maybe these ships may have an advantage in exploring?
Also would be cool add built in ship mechanics like built in DPRM or Weapons Haste or Weapons Damage, etc clickies you can use.
This way you can open up a console slot for something else and have 1 more slot or even ship trait slot to work with.
You can tell how bad the trait/consoles are when Spencer is smirking while talking about them like he does when Warp Core is making one of his "terrible"/dad jokes (no offense Warp Core) 😂
I don't mind attempting to improve shields: this is a Star Trek game and shields should be the primary defense for a ship because of that. They just don't seem to be very good at doing that improvement.
I wish the Experimental Weapon was not tied to getting a weird ship with limited utility but rather was an event reward. It looks interesting for proton builds on ships with the appropriate slot.
So sad. Because I waited for years for this ships to come. But I have T6 coupons or will buy the bundle anyway. Like the designs and the seating. But the rest ... is just sad... thanks for your vid as always!

Sure, the Solanae EV suits are in the dil store IF you have completed the step between stars missions sufficient times to collect the suits there, BUT that mission is broken in multiple places (only two of which have a work around requiring the engineering career) so this is now the ONLY way to get that EV suit.
I just ran it 2 days ago with a new delta recruit too with no issues?
@@shawncoleman8530 I managed to wedge myself in the doorway that causes the first glitch to get past it, but then Dr Cooper wedged himself in a corner and the mission glitched out again. I beamed out and in and this time he wedged himself into another corner a little further on. I beamed out and... it reset me to the start of the mission. I've played it before on other characters so I said f* this. There's another major glitch reported in the shield floor where the shield drops and then immediately comes back up - so you have to hop down there fast. There's another glitch in the fight with the Voth where the ships never go hostile so you can't fight them and the mission can't progress.

If you haven't already seen, the Vesta omnidirectional wave siphon provides more secondary shields than these consoles put together and is way older. Sad day. I bought the bundle in an excitement to home my Vulcan sci aspiring proton build but wasted money. The environmental suits are lame too. Should have just spent a t6 coupon. Time to go back to my Fleet Laeosa.
While I like the looks of the Romulan ship, the lack of a decent trait, console, and seating arrangement means this is an easy pass for me. Also the fact that the devs can't even do the math to determine how many experimental upgrades we need to upgrade all three ships is getting comical. For me I have better ships I've gotten for free so why spend money on an inferior product? Nice analysis Spencer, thank you.

@@elvangulley3210 actually it wasn’t a typo. One of the other content creators knows Kael and reached out. Kael took the feedback that the number of upgrades was short to make 3 ships T6-X2. The bundle is released with 9 tokens. See STU1701 recent vids for verification.
To summarise, the devs made a mistake. The devs listened to feedback. The devs fixed 1 issue with the bundle.
All new ships look cool, as well as tactical mode animations. The idea of secondary shield as a reservoir energy for additional proton damage is also good imo. But why the heck so ridiculously low numbers? 2K temporal shield or +10 drain expertise from starship traits , is that a joke? Similarly with consoles. I wouldn't be afraid of a 20x larger value at all.
What about directly comparing these ships to their closest existing neighbors?
Are they unique enough or better than what came before? Or are we better off sticking to other ships in their class?
Gimmick aside, of course.
I wonder if Borticus will nerf the Maelstrom again.
Wait for a 35% sale, sell the T6 coupon and the experimental upgrades. For $65 you get three ships and around 1 billion EC.

The Romulan ship seems better. I love my sci/torp setup on my Leg.Glenn…but dew/sci for that Romulan ship would be fun

Too bad, I was hoping to get something interessting. This is okay, but I also don't want to be forced to use the Klingon variant only because it alone has Cmd Int.
Honestly, compared to the Atlantis, all of these ships are inferior both in stats, capabilities and equipment. The only reason to get them over the Atlantis would be for looks or RP.
But the Atlantis alone has more meta impact for DEWSCI hybrid builds than all 3 of those ships combined. Plus being a very capable and sexy ship.
So this bundle is an excessively underwhelming and uninspired offering compared to what we were treated to with the last bundle. The outgoing systems team clearly couldn't be bothered to put in any effort into this. So i can't be bothered to put any Zen or T6 coupons into this. Until those ships get a proper overhaul, that is.
NEXT!
When they give us T6 upgrades of T5 shots, that's their opportunity to revise them to be in line with current meta and stats. Not regurgitation with slapping on passives and such.
Notice how it seems like EVERY other MMO revisits and revises existing content on the regular to keep older content relevant and game mechanics functioning in a way that makes sense with the current state of the game?
STO doesn't really do this. Exception being the Specialization revamps we got.

These all seem like solid dewsci ships. Not great. But if you just ignore the tac mode they've got decent seats a 4-3 isnt terrible (not a 5-3 but still better than 3-3) and the console set is serviceable if not inspiring.
These wont be meta (obviously) but not every thing has to just push meta at the expense of all other players...i think the will make decent budget epg boats.
One thing i dont get is why the devs are so obsessed with making sheild tanks a thing. But never want to buff actuall shield hp numbers
As C Store ships go, they have very good layouts. Also, fleet grade right out of the gate.

He got reassigned to a game that got scrapped with the Embracer debacle. So he got shifted back to STO. He'll probably be gone too once DECA fully takes over.
right no I am so disappointed that they put TAC seating on these without specialization instead of universal. if the TAC seat had been the other specialization we could do actual full sci build. Also, I am not seeing a special secondary deflector like Solonae.. wish they would have done something special there???
So no bundle sale as long this new one is not over and that's another 2 weeks minimum! Damn I am not buying anything. We are in 5th month without a bundle sale??
they really dropped the ball on this. They had an opportunity to create a whole new energy build, a new meta with the reward space set and they screwed it all up. Complete waste of time. I hate being negative because that isn't my nature but this is unimpressive.

Aside of his outspoken disdain for the player base, my concern is that if they keep creating ships so far behind the meta, due to his complete detachment from how the game works now, then at some point nothing new will sell well enough to justify developing more new ships.
Borticus already fulfilled this prophecy years ago by giving ships that were garbage stat wise to the non Fed factions to justify discontinuing ongoing development of ships for the non Fed factions.
Hopefully, boycotting his bundles will see him swiftly removed again.
The ONLY I would get that bundle is IF they would pay me to get it, other wise SO NO, I will not be wasting any of my money on it.
I guess if you are into the Barbie in the game, get them, if not, don't waste your time and money.
Why needs to be "meta" or do dps numbers. just play the game, the bundle if good like it is the ships are good thematically

Consoles and traits are garbage. At least there is 3 ships and a t6 and 8 x upgrades. There is the money for.
IMO none of the bundles are worth it, they are preying on hardcore fans who jump at any idea of a new shiny ship, and Mudd's are on a whole other level of grift. I used to love this game but about 5 years ago it just became too much and I'm a lifetime sub...
