Funny, I think the Mercedes gear lever solution is actually very easy and intuitive.
I've been driving a GLK for the last three years and have become a big fan of the general ergonomics around the steering wheel including the column shifter. It is very intuitive and you have paddles if you want to shift up and down. There is also a door interlock to prevent roll-away. You don't need to see the cruise control stalk, it is so intuitive in its operation - that is the whole point, you don't take your eyes off the road!
My moss green Prius also has an AMG badge on it.
I don't understand how base mercedes and bmws still have halogen headlights, civics are coming with LEDs
Thanks Nick for another great review. I really didn't know much about the GLC so I appreciate the "schooling" on the model. I bet you're excited about your Porsche delivery. We're all looking forward to seeing the 911 with you. Thanks ahead of time for sharing your upcoming experience with us. (Mike in Ohio)
I think I broke the screen on my iPad with my index finger when I saw a new upload from Nick. Alas, no Porsche.
Good review as always. I had a chance this early evening to look over a GLC 300 at my local Mercedes dealer. I have to concur with your take on this model. I think it's fabulous. Mercedes Benz seems to have nailed it in terms of build quality, looks and cost after 2 previous generations. That's what world class competition does. The consumer wins !!
Great video Nick! It was awesome meeting you!
What would reliability be like on one of these? I want to get my dad one as a gift but I'm nervous it'll break down or have issues.
It's maddening that Mercedes still makes you upgrade to a decent set of headlights. There's no excuse as to why some LED's or HID's can't be standard.
Thank God you can totally shut off that big screen at night. Went to a GLC300 Launch Edition from a 2014 Audi Q5. There are some nice differences between this and the launch edition. I am happy with it and the interior bright brown color choice that comes with it is great too.
Same factory in Finland that used to make Porsche Boxster, starts to make Glc.
I bought one and really like it. But better yet my wife LOVES it. MPG has been good with over 30 on long trips on the highway. Fit and finish are impressive. I'm not a fan of the gear lever but with everything else so good I can live with it.
Another excellent review nick !! That older couple in the Forester at the beginning of the video WANT ONE !! 😂
I love your video and I am thinking to buy this car in June , thanks a lot for the review ! greeting from Canada
Thanks Nick - I've driven this car ans well as the X3 and Macan and agree with you.
I don't like the soft curves of the GLC. That and the halogen head lights look completely out of place on a luxury vehicle. Yes I know HID are available but they really need to be standard at this point.
Nice review.I am desparate to find a decent vehicle. Will do bad miles in it .15,000 a
The only thing that really bothers me is the non-projector headlights. Even if they still were just halogen projectors as standard, that'd be better than those unsightly reflector housings.
2 liter turbo and best they can do is 22-28 mpg? This is why I hate turbo 4 cly. How is this progress , you get a rough engine with inconsistent performance (lag everywhere), and barley an economy.
