Monty, the Whippet, in training.

A short bit of obedience training (with treats) for Monty the Whippet.
On 12th October 2019, Monty came 1st (out of 23) in the Southern Semi Final of the Kennel Club Good Citizens Special Pre Beginners Obedience Stakes held at Discover Dogs (Excel Arena, London) - indeed he had won three Qualifying Heats throughout 2019. By finishing in the first 5 in the Semi Final, he qualified for the Grand Final held at Crufts 2020 - the first time a Whippet had appeared in the Final in the 15 year history of the event.
In 2019, Monty achieved his Pre Beginners Title (won out of Pre Beginners) and came third in the National Obedience class final. He also achieved his Rally Obedience Level 2 (Ex) title.
On 7th March 2020, Monty came 8th (out of 20) in the Kennel Club Good Citizens Special Pre Beginners Obedience Stakes Final at Crufts.
Monty was a member of the South & South West team in the Inter Regional Obedience Championship at Crufts in 2022 & 2023 (the team came second in 2022).
In 2023 he won his second Beginners competition (thereby winning out of that level) and at that point, he was retired from Competitive Obedience competitions.

@@DaveFord He really is! My girl can occasionally be a little 'stubborn' especially if she is 'hunting' and I think it's time to go home {in the driving rain and wind} and she still sees squirrels she wants to stalk. She became obsessed with them at about a year old.
