Your father is destroyer
Tell him that he got respect from Vietnam 🇻🇳
My son cleared 1500 landmines from 2000 to 2008. And when 2008 last month he died when he going to deactivate a landmine. I really miss him.
Very sad sir
Sorry to hear that

i have about 6 of these under my grass waiting to blow someone up
Anti-personnel mines aren't designed to kill necessarily. They are intended to injure. That way you take out more than one. The medical folks, the stretcher bearers, etc. Also, they have a disastrous effect on morale. They are really horrible weapons.
The "toe popper" seems especially cruel and insidious to me. At least take my life rather than just my foot making me a cripple for my entire life
'Ferb I know what we are going to do today'
Landmines have to be the most scariest weapon of war out of everything, thank you too all those that risk their lives finding and detonating these things!!!
Not at all. I was a Sapper in Iraq, Afghanistan and Africa. The scariest weapon of war is an opponent that doesn't fear death or harming innocent people.

Peace was never an option.
Most land mine decided to hurt and not to kill soldiers, like blow off the leg. To slow down other soldiers to taking care it
@@quinn6053
Believe it or not but thats one of the most humane strategies.
Instead of keeping all the soldiers pinned down under gunfire or bombardment, you occupy 5x as many people with 5x fewer casualties, and simultaneously destroying the enemy morale and slowing down all their movements
They're actually not that big in explosion, but it will definitely rip your bottom torso and the rest off if it's strong enough
The animated explosion really got my hairs standing! 😱

During the 1982 Falklands war during a night move we were ordered to move into an known marked Argentinian mine field which had been marked. We were behind in securing a start line for the Marines to attack Mount Harriet. We were well into the minefield when a Marine stood on an anti personnel mine which blew his foot off. Another soldier went to his aid and triggered another mine. Neither was killed but I won’t forget their screams of pain in the darkness. The destination of the Mines alerted the Argentinians who then opened up a artillery barrage. Eventually the royal engineers cleared a way out for us and the attack on Mount Harriet went ahead but behind schedule. In the same war a mate of mine brother Brian Milne 3 Para, lost his leg in another mine field during the attack by 3 Para on Mount Langdon. The problem with minefields is that they remain long after a war and innocent children are maimed or killed long after.
Very sad to hear 😢
Yo Im an Argentinian that is trying to do research about the falkland/malvinas war. Can you please tell me how the war was view from your point of view and the backstory/background before the war? Any details, info will also work
@@franco6139 yes no problem. Would you like my input as a reply to this post or would you like my personal email address?
It’s legally required according to the Geneva Convention that all mine fields are mapped and then cleared after the war is over but the Americans have mines they drop from planes which are meant to deactivate after a period but some stay live and injure civilians.

I've seen film of remote control bulldozers, equipped with "flails" as developed in WW2, that detonate any mines. I believe this was in Asia (Possibly Viet Nam) to clear those that remained from the war, but were still deadly. I've been told of anti-tank mines that don't detonate, until a certain number of contacts in mid-convoy.

"Land mines are used defensively to protect... "
Step 1: Get some paratroopers into enemy territory
Step 2: plant land mines
Boom, now they aren't even safe in their own house and you have used landmines offensively
What about paratroopers?
Most of the time it's not even paratroopers. Borders aren't as secure as people like to pretend, and there is always a way around.
And now he still clear landmines in Cambodia for safe her country and my people
There are thousands of land mines in Karabagh. Now Azerbaijan soldiers are clearing them. When armenians were in Karabagh, they were buried mines
As a mine technician for 32 plus years, i must say that the anti tank mine is one of man's greatest inventions !!!
Iam sorry to say that this is also creulist thing to develop killing people is not good
Keeping people alive who shouldn’t be is also cruel.
Greatest invention was a house and a bed to live, with food to eat, weapons are pointless, defending yourself wouldn't be a fate if mankind didn't desire power and ownership of everything and lived as pure equals because in the end war or no war, WE ALL DIE SOME DAY

I'm New to this very Helpful. Allah Hu Akbar.
In the movie Kingsman Golden Circle.
When Eggsy steps on a mine, it didn't explodes. It only exploded when they removed the pressure.
I know it is just a movie, but that kind of land mine is kinda counter productive.
Yes same I'm thinking
Because it was a full of crap hollywood landmine. doesn't exist.
@@krokse don't spread misinformation, "Step off mines" are hollywood inventions to make shitty plotlines for the general public to stress out over when watching a movie. Mine fuzes don't work like that.
@@Stray03 Step off mines exist to some extent, a few bouncing and bounding mines are meant to propel only when the pressure is off. Once the pressure is release, the mine is propel into the air than explode, which allows for a larger blast/shrapnel area. They are time-delay though, so the mine will go off after some seconds even if there is still pressure, but just enough time to fk around with the enemy.
Bouncing and bounding mines are the worst, because they are meant to mess with the enemy. Most might see someone step on the mine and get instantly blow up, and they will think it is just bad luck. However, what if a group has to leave one of their own behind to die because they cannot de-mine the bouncing/bounding mine? Most of them will feel it is their fault for failing to save a fellow soldier.
@@Normacly keeping your foot on those mines is worthless. It is a pressure activated fuze with a delay. Bounding mines like the s-mine for example work like that. Step off or not you are already screwed.
I feel so bad for innocent civilians including children who stepped on the mine and got maimed.

Wow. Great channel. Glad I found this
land mine, or landmine, is an explosive weapon concealed under or camouflaged on the ground, and designed to destroy or disable enemy targets, ranging from combatants to vehicles and tanks, as they pass over or near it.Such a device is typically detonated automatically by way of pressure when a target steps on it or drives over it, although other detonation mechanisms are also sometimes used.[2] A land mine may cause damage by direct blast effect, by fragments that are thrown by the blast, or by both. Landmines are typically laid throughout an area, creating a minefield[3] which is dangerous to cross.
The use of land mines is controversial because of their potential as indiscriminate weapons. They can remain dangerous many years after a conflict has ended, harming civilians and the economy. Seventy-eight countries are contaminated with land mines and 15,000-20,000 people are killed every year while many more are injured. Approximately 80% of land mine casualties are civilians, with children as the most affected age group. Most killings occur in times of peace.[4] With pressure from a number of campaign groups organised through the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, a global movement to prohibit their use led to the 1997 Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines and on their Destruction, also known as the Ottawa Treaty. To date, 164 nations have signed the treaty, but these do not include China, the Russian Federation, or the United States.[5]

Hello! Great work on video. The explanation of the firing pin is not accurate.
The firing pin is compressed and resting on a catch or sear. When the pressure plate, when enough pressure is pushed onto it and the bottom of the landline, the firing pin will become unlatched from its sear, and the spring will depress, striking a primer which detonates the explosive compound.
So now I have to contradict you. the firing pin? did you even see the size and mass of the firing pin? everything stays as it is here and there is no shaking! the firing pin stays as it is and the mine stays where it is!
The firing pin or striker is the most important and dangerous piece to these mechanical detonation explosives.
The firing pin or striker in these devices are all the same size.
It depends on the design of the mine. Not all mines employ the ‘cocked striker’ design you describe.
Very good channel 👍 🙂
Keep up the good work
