7:30 The original "Schwarzeälder Kirschtorte" actually is made with hard liquor made out of cherries. Bake the dough, cut it in sheets, add a good measure of 'Kirschwasser' (that hard liquor) to at least the lowest sheet, put in some whipped cream with cherries together with other tasty stuff (don't know the exact ingredients, though), cover the outside with whipped cream and then put some cherries and finely grated chocolate around.
I would not recommend driving after eating a piece. 😅 But I guess most are not made with Kirschwasser, as it makes the cake more expensive and teatotalers would not be able to eat one piece.

Thx again for your Video! And yes, you are right: "Kuchen" means cake. But the larger round cakes (that often come with cream and look nicer) we mostly call "Torte" like the "Schwarzwälder Torte" (Blackforrest Cake) Phil mentioned in the video. There are tons of variations Torte and Kuchen you can get. As a child i liked a cake a lot that had a bisquit (very soft) dough, than vanilla-pudding, banana slices on the pudding when the pudding cooled down and on top green jelly with woodruff taste. So you could see the banana slices through the jelly. It is popular on kids birthday partys until today...well and i like it as an adult as well. 😄 But i think woodruff is a taste maybe only known in germany or north european countires. I´m not sure if it is known or even liked elsewhere.
