I used to pick rhubarb from the back garden and dip the stalk into sugar and eat that. So good

My Grandmother would make rhubarb custard pie. The sweetness of the custard paired so nicely with the tartness of the rhubarb

Grandma always had rhubarb on her farm in rural Wisconsin. I liked to go out and pick it because it snapped so satisfyingly. I ate it raw sometimes but just a bite because its so sour without sugar. Then I would appreciate it all the more with sugar. Rhubarb is my 2nd favorite pie after pumpkin. It's also great as warm sauce with vanilla ice cream. (Reminds me of gramma who just died last month of covid....)

My mom used to grow rhubarb and make pie. All of us loved it, but one day I was helping her pick it and one of the stalks had a worm in it. I've never eaten it again. LOL I have a worm phobia.

Here in Iowa, we used to pick the rhubarb by my Grandma's back fence---we would eat it straight or put sugar on it! And Grandma would make rhubarb pie or rhubarb crisp. YUM! Or even apple/rhubarb pie!

In Scotland, if we ate it raw, it would be first diipped in sugar. Rhubarb crumble. Boil chopped rhubarb in pot with sugar and ginger.
Then into white wheat flour, mix in white sugar and cinnamen, rub in butter to resemle breadcumbs. Add to stewed rhubard and place in oven until crumble toppi6nh has carmaliaed. Serve with hot custard.

To bring out the flavor of rhubarb it needs to be cleaned, chopped & boiled in sugar water. Makes a great compote jam & pie 🥧.

Classic in the Netherlands aswell. Raw like that with, preferably with a dip, only before midsummer, because of the oxalic acid content in it increasing.

I'm from north Missouri. The SECOND family to settle my hometown, in the 1880's, was from Bohemia. Once word got back to the "old country", many more came. Everyone there grows and eats rhubarb and gooseberries, makes sourkraut, etc. For me, those foods are more American than apple pie.

I'm currently learning Russian, so I paused the video to find out the gender of ревень, since words ending in a мягкий знак can be masculine or feminine. I thought it was gonna be feminine, but nope, ревень is masculine. Also, rhubarb is often paired with strawberry.

There’s nothing great about this thing. Whatever you call it in this country it’s called you have to pay to play meaning that you only exist to be a cog in this machine, and that’s all it amounts to for your existence and what do I mean by that? In this system, you are nothing more than cattle on a farm whose sole purpose is to be a cog machine to consume, and to be the commodity itself , and that’s all your existence amounts to, this whole country. you’re nothing more than cattle on a farm meant to serve one purpose to solely exist to keep feeding this façade of a system. The United States is amount to nothing more than a shopping mall in which you have to pay to participate within it, from those who wish to profit at your expense, here in the good USA, corporations, control everything, they carpetbagger government government, they own everything and you own nothing. You are nothing more than slave to the system and that’s all amounts to keep feeding into something that you don’t even have a say within. Here you don’t even have property rights at least underneath socialism. You would have at least something unlike here in this capitalist, utopia, you can lose your property rights if a corporation for profit can literally turn your property into something to profit from for which will generate the US government more taxation that’s right, you can lose your property just like that if a corporation is able to turn it into something to be profitable to increase the tax revenue of the machine in which you so kindly want to be a part of, and serve within in which you don’t even have any rights not even property rights unlike underneath socialism, you are assured a place to live without having to be confiscated for corporations for profit, unlike capitalism underneath socialism you’re right to housing is ensured because it is enshrined as a fundamental human, right in which you cannot be denied and there are advantages with this you can argue that you don’t own that property but at least you don’t have to pay rent to it and it is a fundamental human, right in which you are assured of in which takes off the worry of living on the street and being exposed to the elements outside like capitalism where you don’t have this fundamental human right and you don’t have any assurances because you’re nothing more then a piece of property to be used and abused and tossed away when you no longer have any use for the machine that’s what your existence amounts to underneath this capitalist system where corporations literally own everything and have say over your life and can literally have the government under their behalf, seizure property, and take away what you had to paid into to get that property in which you don’t own but rather you are renting because you are nothing more than servant to the machine and that’s all you amount to it. at least with socialism you stand a better chance at having a decent standard of life, then underneath capitalism where you’re just nothing more than that cog machine that is tossed aside,
