    Nick is such a gear head, was really hoping to hear what he would come up with for the fuzzed out chorus. More Nick!

    Listening to a musician talk about an early inspiration? Thumbs Up.
    Listening to a musician troll the crap out of "Boomers" fixated on uncut strings? Priceless.

    Great song, bought that CD when it hit because of the Buddy Holly video which was hysterical. Who knew the album had all those hits. Say It Ain’t So guitar riff was what rocked me. I then got hooked on the Sweater Song.

    This was one of the first songs I learned as well, and I was captivated by the blue album and still am to this day. Great story and video.

    LOL Stopped dead in my tracks just as I was about to comment, "Dude, the string ends . . ."
    You'll shoot your eye out! hahaha
    But I still have to say, "Dude! All those pedals on the shelves in the background!"

      If you like that, check out their recording room for Pedals and Effects lol (they haven't posted in a while though because Juan is recovering from an injury).

    Next time ask him to show you his pedals, but only if you have a few weeks free

    First time watching this channel. But speaking to the “ why does he not trim the strings “. I would have to respond with. If you are obsessed with the strings that are dangling from the headstock and not the strings that you are playing. Then it’s safe to say that your focused on the wrong part of the video

    • @quadrogong1111
      @quadrogong1111 Před 4 lety

      Kinda like if u focus on people focusing on the wrong thing, then YOU'RE focused on the wring part of the video.
      Kinda like I'm doing now! Aahh😂let's break the cycle of unfocusednessed

    Failure is another band from the 90's with the use of clusters in their riffs

    When he plays the open chords at 1:51 it's Mykel and Carli.

    That was really entertaining and learning that dissonant chord thing was helpful.
    Great content! except..why don't you cut you string ends?? 😆

    • @justinschwieger71
      @justinschwieger71 Před 4 lety

      I think it has to do with a ton of factors. One of them being that in the 90s a lot of people were going heavier and heavier gauge strings due to trends and finding it harder to bend.

  • @GoAmerica
    @GoAmerica Před 4 lety +2

    I've heard this quite a bit, 90s artists down tuning their guitar a half step. Why was this happening/why would someone do that? Simply to try to sound different?

    • @zenosonik
      @zenosonik Před 4 lety +7

      It's been around far longer than the 90's. Hendrix tuned down a half step, as did many other's. Van Halen and SRV for instance. "Why was this happening/why would someone do that?" One of the reasons is that it simply sounds fatter, and another is to make it easier on the singer.

    • @GoAmerica
      @GoAmerica Před 4 lety +4

      @@zenosonik it's funny, after I wrote that I told myself "Aren't a bunch of Van Halen songs half a step down?"

    • @jmihendrix4
      @jmihendrix4 Před 4 lety

    • @jeffreyhughes9162
      @jeffreyhughes9162 Před 4 lety +1

      The strings feel a little looser and open. If you are playing for hours at a gig, it is easier on your fingers and the singer.
