    I can guarantee you 100% if I was there as a GI after years of fighting in the mud and watching friends die that I would slip a bar or two in between some bag liners. I can also bet that some of those first soldiers did the same. If they did, I am not mad at them. They earned it.

      Gold and silver hoards are still being found today from the Saxon period.
      The Staffordshire Hoard in England likely deposited between 650-675 CE. (1373 years ago) turned up 5.1 kg of gold, and 1.4 kg of silver. And 131 gold coins from Anglo-Saxon England, buried around AD 600, was found in 2021 in West Norfolk, England. 1 kg or gold today traded at £49,005.85 / $60,000.

    I know of a location where there are 30+ WW2 German fighters still sitting in a bunker in Bavaria, Germany, booby trapped with large aerial bombs, and has a possibility of holding treasure. I tried contacting the history channel several times but they dont even want to hear the location lol. They said I need an attorney to tell them my story and i'm like..(walks backward) ok

    There was a documented incident where a few American soldiers actually plundered gold from a german royal family in Barvarea. The Germans stored the gold & precious jewels in a fake wall in the basement behind a wine cellar. A US soldier shipped the gold bars, a little bit at a time, back home to his family.

    Just a little correction.
    There never was as any battle nearby Merkers during or after WW2, in fact the people who lived there, threw all the munition, stored in the town, in the nearby river, hung white flags outside of their windows and one them went, to negotiate with the approaching troups.

    My guess as to where some of it went would be Antarctica...some went home with a few GI's, and the rest went to the American government, somewhere hidden. Gold does not simply disappear.

    Everyone is always curious about the gold. The gold was/would probably just be confiscated and added to a treasury (or stolen during the chaos), I am more curious about the Blutfahne personally. It's probably in a vault at the Kremlin or something.
