- The Alpine A110 is perhaps the most iconic French sports car of all time. Now celebrating its 50th birthday we retrace the story of Jean Rédélé's most successful car and the racing heritage it created at his company. It's a rollercoaster ride, from modest beginnings to World Championship glory.
From 1954, when Jean Rédélé started racing a 4CV through to when he sold his company to Renault 30 years later, Alpine and Renault had a positive relationship, with robust Renault parts making Alpine cars affordable and reliable. This partnership will be among the many sub plots that contribute to this fascinating and emotional story of Rédélés Alpine car company.

A buddy in my German hometown raced an A110, and a cousin still has his A110 in French racing blue.
In 70's racing, ralling, and especially hill climb, the A110 and Lotus Elan were it.
Good documentary, I only wish I could filter out the un necessary and too loud music.

L'Alpine ici en Allemagne n'était pas très demandé, ce que je n'ai pas compris parce que dar Alpine était une très bonne voiture de sport. Comment je sais que, oui, je dois remonter un peu dans le passé, à l'époque où je travaillais comme carrossier. En effet, notre atelier n'a vendu et réparé que FIAT, LANCIA et ALFA ROMEO. Mais, comme c'était le cas, les concessionnaires automobiles se sont entraidés. Dans la rue où se trouvait notre concession, il y avait aussi un concessionnaire Renault avec atelier. C'est comme ça que, quand, par exemple, il ne se passait pas grand chose avec nous, nous avons aidé l'atelier Renault s'ils avaient trop à faire. Un jour, mon patron m'a envoyé au garage Renault pour aider. Il était là, le Renault Alpine au nez cassé. Il avait l'air assez mal mais le cadre de l'Alpine n'a pas été abîmé donc j'ai commencé et l'ai repris en 3 jours encore une nouvelle frontale ratée. Puis il est venu à nous dans l'atelier de peinture et puis de retour à l'atelier Renault, où j'ai ensuite tout monté à nouveau ce qui appartenait à un pare-chocs de voiture et ce qui venait d'être boulonné à des pièces intégrées. Parce qu'il avait à la supervision technique (TÜV = association de surveillance technique), qui était à Francfort et mon patron m'a donné l'ordre de démontrer là-bas. Je n'aurais jamais pensé à ce qui allait arriver parce que j'étais obsédé par les voitures allemandes et anglaises. J'ai été très surpris par les caractéristiques de conduite et je ne voulais même pas sortir, tellement agréable était le voyage à Francfort et de retour, j'étais ravi de cette voiture. J'ai essayé d'acheter une Renault Alpine, nécessaire, mais même si usé était soit à ne pas avoir ou trop cher, j'ai trouvé dommage car j'aurais vendu pour lui ma VW Beetle et ma Triumph TR 4, mais même le produit des deux Les voitures n'auraient pas été suffisantes pour acheter un Alpine d'occasion. Dommage, je l'aurais aimé.
