Evil doesn’t span eternity without a little help.
In this modern monster tale of Dracula’s loyal servant, Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road, X-Men franchise) stars as Renfield, the tortured aide to history’s most narcissistic boss, Dracula (Oscar® winner Nicolas Cage). Renfield is forced to procure his master’s prey and do his every bidding, no matter how debased. But now, after centuries of servitude, Renfield is ready to see if there’s a life outside the shadow of The Prince of Darkness. If only he can figure out how to end his codependency.
Renfield is directed by Chris McKay (The Tomorrow War, The LEGO Batman Movie) from a screenplay by Ryan Ridley (Ghosted series, Rick & Morty series), based on an original idea by The Walking Dead and Invincible creator Robert Kirkman.
The film co-stars Awkwafina (The Farewell, Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings), Ben Schwartz (Sonic, The Afterparty) and Adrian Martinez (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Focus) and Emmy winner and Oscar® nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo (House of Saddam, House of Sand and Fog).
Renfield is produced by Skybound Entertainment partners Robert Kirkman and David Alpert (The Walking Dead, Invincible), co-presidents Bryan Furst (Daybreakers) and Sean Furst (Daybreakers) and by Chris McKay. McKay’s producing partner Samantha Nisenboim (co-producer, The Tomorrow War) will executive produce. - Zábava
Nicholas Cage as Dracula is one of the best casting choices they ever made.

Nicolas Cage as Fu Manchu is the best casting choice they ever made.
Yesss
His going to drink the blood... OFF!
What is crazy is he actually looks like he might unironically be a really good Dracula.
His decades of work in the film industry, combined with his...ummm, interesting acting choices could be fun.
And yeah, I am sure he(and others involved in the production) probably drew upon "Nosferatu" as an influence for whatever crazy shit he decides to do for this movie.
Helps that his facial structure is a lot like Christopher Lee’s
@@py_a_thon He mentioned David Bowie, Andy Warhol, pop-art and his father among inspirations for this part.
@@Lark1610 True that. Sounds fun.
I was just saying that "Nosferatu" is a hollywood golden era classic. Most actors, make up artists, choreographers, etc, and directors would probably be very familiar with that film.
It's not like it's the first time he plays a "vampire"
I immediately liked how when he said
“come on in”
he freaked out because that counted as an invitation to come into the building.
Old school vampire lore.

There should have been a lot more of that in the film.

This is a trailer done right. It doesn’t give away the plot, doesn’t show you all the best parts and does what it’s suppose to do which is get you hyped for the film. I wish more trailers did this.
Although I wish they kept Nicholas cage as Dracula as a surprise

This movie deserves a sequel. Nicholas Cage never disappoints. Good or bad he can cast. What you want him to be, he will be.
Everyone talking about nick cage, but Nicholas Hoult is also a great talent. Loved him in warm bodies and young beast in X-men franchise.
he's amazing in "The Great" as Peter Emperor of Russia
He seems underrated for his generation is he?
Yeah I was wondering where he was all these years, he did a great job as young Hank

I saw this trailer before a CZcams video and had no idea who was playing Dracula. When Nick Cage showed up, I literally started cheering. Perfect casting choice.
Same, same. It was so hype in that theatre.
Seeing Nic Cage as Dracula puts a smile on my face

This gonna be fun to watch. Nicolas cage is always at his best when he's crazy.
It took me a moment to even realize it was him but once I did I was crazy excited.
He did a movie years ago where he thought he was a vampire. Was that Vampires Kiss?
Nic Cage wow
*Nicolas
@James Anderson yeah you know better
Nic Cage screaming "I"M A VAMPIRE, I'M A VAMPIRE" in Vampire's Kiss is one of my fondest memories, and it looks like this film might finally outshine that.
Also from the writers of Rick and Morty, Community, Invincible and The Walking Dead, and the director of Moral Orel & Lego Batman doing a live action feature.
Wow. These guys know how to mix comedy with dark high-concept ideas. I'm excited.
This was probably the most wacky, bloody and funny vampire movie since Vampire Sucks 😂. I absolutely loved it!
Nicholas Cage is always Nicholas Cage, and he always deliver. The crazier he is the better everything gets. This is going to be a real treat, and he actually seems to be an awesome Count.
The guy never stops giving his best performance. He deserves another Oscar. That being said he deserves better material than this.

As Living Person I must Ask you what is Fun Alive 🙃 Somebody? I want to Know. Are Movies best Watched 👀 or Digested ???
I’ve never read the book or watched any Dracula movies but I saw a high school production of Dracula once and Renfield absolutely stole the show

@@EdEddnEddyMercuryI haven’t read no Dracula book either but I remember being a child and watching young Dracula and I found renfield hilarious on that😆
Just watched it and it was fantastic. I got to praise both Hoult & Awkwafina's performance next to Cage's.. they were amazing! Can't wait to watch it again.
I haven't seen Nicholas Cage movie in decades. Read a few reviews and was glad we decided to see this flick. This movie is action packed, gruesome and entertaining.
I love how eating an insect gives him power. In the Bram Stoker book, draculas servant feeds insects to rats and rats to a cat and then eats the cat (or some combination of animals but it starts with insects) bc he says if you eat a creature, you gain it’s life force. Such a cool way to call back to the original Renfield.
He never gets a cat though. He requests for one but never gets it because Dr Seward is afraid he'll keep going farther up the food chain
"its" not "it's".
The attention to detail over all the different lore and past interpretations of Vampires is Staggering and amazing.

@@Testiculitis In this case it changes the meaning to use the wrong one.
I love that Niccage embraces his persona in his last few movies.

finally a movie to get the monster universe back on its feet.
Creature features have been desperately lacking as of late. Werewolves within was refreshing in its own right, if you haven't heard of it yet. Perfect blend of horror comedy in my opinion.
When I heard about this movie, I was hoping for a serious, dark, movie with antiquated horror but, I'll most likely watch it anyway being that Renfield was always one of my favorite characters.
I'm running out of words here to explain how excited i am for this movie

I love the part where the counselor invites Dracula in and Reinfeld freaks out. Vampires can supposedly only enter if you give them permission.
Shit, I haven't even noticed that.
If they enter they’re stripped of power
I know, I loved that little detail too
It's such a neat detail that makes me want to see this all the more
Yes that was great. Not something you see in vampire lore very often these days.

Nick Cage is always chaotically amazing and brilliant. and Nicholas Hoult always does such a great job as the "i don't really wanna be doing this and i'm not the bad guy even if i'm not perfect" likable character in the roles he plays.
in this movie, Renfield kinda reminds me of Victor Van Dort from Corpse Bride. the characters are similar in a lot of ways (looks, accent, personality) and both characters have the whole arc of "you have to stand up for yourself, in order to not just let life happen to you."
I've always thought Nick would make a good vampire. I don't know why no one has ever given him a dracula role before now.
Someone tell me why this looks like its gonna be good. Like having Nicholas Hoult's character be main focus, is actually genius.
Here’s the thing. It looks DUMB, but it looks like it KNOWS it’s dumb. If it can pull off that self-awareness, it’ll be great!

I went to a dracula ballet one time, which means no spoken dialogue or singing for those who have never been to a ballet. It's like interpretive dance. The Renfield in this ballet was quite literally the BEST depiction of the character I have ever seen. The guys was barrel rolling across the stage and just going wild. It's hard to explain the dance but it was so perfect.
It's about time they gave this character a movie of their own, he is by far one of my favorite side characters in any movie. Like "Ope, she's pregnant. No, I haven't seen this, what was the name of this show again? Ah, thanks. Ok, the reason she's pregnant is because he cheated on his wife with her, right? And now he's saying he needs to back off from the affair because his wife is onto him. There's no conflict if they just leave it at that. The writers need a reason for him to feel torn between she and his wife. If he just leaves and that's that, then everybody just goes back to their lives disappointed, but if he gets a call a month later with news that she missed her period, it creates tension. Oh hey, see, she's throwing up and looking scared, called it."
Whatever the quality, this looks like it'll be fun as hell. And Hoult should be a much bigger star than he is. He's always great.
I agree. I think he is not managed well hence has not reached full stardom. About a Boy to me is still his "big" movie. I would love him to have a movie again with Hugh Grant
@@stanbalo I think Warm Bodies was really his breakout role.
@@tessy28 i wanted to watch that movie before in theaters bec M83 midnight song was used in it but eventually did not get to watch..still have not watched it
Fun Fact: Count Dracula acted as Nicholas Cage in the movie.
Nicholas Cage is finally a vampire!
Trailer lowkey go hard. Giving me "not gonna do well at box office yet will end up a cult classic" vibes
This role was made for Cage and I’m all for it!!!
Wow,I just wach the movie,FINALLY a good movie with great actors, it has all,I really RECOMMEND for all 😊😊😊
