We tested out the Zero Breeze portable AC unit to see if it could work as an APU alternative and let’s just say it surprised us! zerobreeze.com/products/zero-...
I remember the days when I had no air con what so ever. Falling asleep in the bunk windows wide open sweat rolling down my forehead and the mosquitoes 🦟 having there way with me. You feel asleep that way and woke up that way and drove all day that way to do it all over again the next night. Talk about as Big Rig Becca says swamp booty. Going 65 mph in 90 degree weather just doesn’t get very cool. Especially if you running a cab over, really didn’t matter hood or not. It was just plain hot. Can you imagine those guys running B-61 from coast to coast. Never stopped shifting got no where fast and you sweated your ass off the whole time. Now you got big power, automated transmissions, comfortable ride, air con and right behind you a sleeper you walk into not a little hole to slide through into a coffin style sleeper, ya , please don’t tell me those were the days. The unit you guys have does some nice fine job. Another great video guys, a cool wife is a happy wife, we all know how that goes.. Have a great and a safe day, happy cool trails to you, D…
lol ! ya, i know what you been through ! My first truck had no A/C ! and it was black ! lol ! at one point i rolled up the windowcuz the heat cuming from outside was way too hot I was going crazy ! actually that truck is the one on my logo here ! lol a 1985 Mack model R with a small sleeper, And i also drove some Cabovers, i know they re hot ! after 35 years of trucking, i m glad i m retired and enjoy being home with A/C lol !
@@juliushalmos3531 at one time I drove a 1949 Kenworth. I think it had a 220 Cummins 4x4 no air, Armstrong steering. A fan that was it. I drove it in British Columbia.. I remember and only remember one truck I drove had air, I drove it for 6 months.
AWESOME review! Thanks for taking the time. I assume you have the Mark 2, right? I’m going to wait for the Mark 3 that ships in August 2024. I had already considered this unit for my 2001 Classic XL Freightliner and you guys have convinced me this is the way to go! I’m currently using a generator with a window unit.
doing a new upload now that I am somewhere with wifi, my apologies for the audio issues, after being able to see it myself this morning I see it actually was quite a mess! Please consider re-watching the fixed version
My car AC runsabout 35 deggress out of the vent, I love my ford, never had and issue with this vehicle even the drive trains. I alway leave a thermometer in my vent, last year had to add a can of freeon to my system. Every winter i run the ac every two weeks just to keep it moving part lubed.
@@thomasruff3359 No offense, just because you see green apu’s on youtube doesn’t mean there are not others out there that do the exact same for less. The Thermoking on Fancy also charges batteries and keeps coolant flowing and so does the one we got for High Maintenance
everything sucks when it’s higher temps and the sun is out, this definitely isn’t as cold as a good running APU can get though, but for the price it works good enough to keep you from dying if you don’t have an APU or want to idle
@@TruckingTogether yea I really try not to idle. I’ve been roughing it out till I get back to Minnesota and the shop can look at it. But here in lost hills it’s too hot to open windows
@@JoshsTruckingadventures I was in Idaho today and used it half the day, it was 100 out, held out good for me but I did have to have it only in the sleeper with the curtain closed to keep up because it was so hot outside and the sun beating down was of no help. Lost Hills can get pretty miserable
@@TruckingTogether yea even though I’m company I run this like it’s mine. I hate idling but I spent the last few days with little sleep due to it being so hot in her. I love the look of black trucks but so hard to keep them cool. And the insulation of a 389 is terrible as I’m sure it’s not much different than the 379. The apu does pretty good when it works. But pretty sure it needs recharged and it wouldn’t take Freon so to thermoking I go
@@TruckingTogether but I did a 34 at the stage stop and luckily it got down to 40s so I lived my best life with some nice breeze. But I get to go home to 117 degrees in Phoenix. Can’t wait to move back east
I’ve never heard of you guys and a friend just sent me your link to this video. I’ve been talking to him about zero breeze. I’ve been wanting to get it just have not pulled the trigger. Have not been able to see any real world experience from another driver that wasn’t being advertised from zero breeze. I’m a sissy when it comes to the heat a lot of times my shift ends in the heat of the day and I have to idle the truck so I can get to sleep and my wife will call me after dark to wake me up so I can shut the truck off after it’s cooled down outside. Most of the time I’m home on the weekends but once in a while, I got stuck out on the weekend and I carry a harbor freight generator to keep the batteries charged during those times and I’m assuming if I’m stuck out on over the weekend and use the zero breeze for two days straight I’m sure the little generator can keep up on the power. At least that’s what I’m hoping so.
not sure where you operate but it works good for normal heat, I did use it today in Idaho and it was 100* out with sun beating down on the truck, if using in a scenario like this be best to make your space as small as possible so it can keep up - it works it just isn’t able to cool an entire cab and sleeper when it’s like this
isn’t that something - thanks you tube! just reviewed what was uploaded again also on my end and that has sound, I have no idea what happened there 🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
@TruckingTogether It may just be a glitch in CZcams at my end I'll double check later (it,s almost 9.45pm and I'm off to bed before early start for work tomorrow) and let you know
@@ozcavalier no, I see it also. Martin said it was fine when he “reviewed it” for me because I didn’t have service earlier but it’s not fine. I am doing a new upload now that I’m somewhere with wifi

we’ve had our share of trucks with no AC, including our cabover Pete 😉

Awesome!
Thanks For Sharing
Hi Alice and Martin , Alice you are always cool cheers from tim in queensland australia ( keep on trucking )
two things get a EcoFlow battery pack to help out and also have the UV window tint put on to reflect the heat out
Thanks for the review…I am looking for an alternative for an APU…and I love the packing material window shroud!!!!
Y'all take care be safe 🙏
😊🎉 gracias a Dios duerme tranquila!!!
Wicked Cool 😎
I just busted out my zero breeze the other day for our camping trip.
Nick!!! Miss ya buddy, hope all is well ❤️
Miss you out here but how did it work for you?
I’m Looking At This Two keep up dating on this unit thank you 😊
we will!
Thanks for the review on the zero breeze been holding off on one tell a trucker reviewed it. Don't want An apu on my cabover , and don't like idling
ya it’s a good unit, it might not save you in 100+ temps with the sun beating on you but for nights it’s a great solution to keep you comfortable
this is xellent innovaton
Cool 😎

Safe Travels out there
Exhaust the hot outside, recycling the inside air will help
Great video I have always wanted one but wasn’t sure if it worked how long is the battery last before it’s dead and how long does it take to charge?
Good hot afternoon y'all
👍👍👍
💯💯
I have screens on my top windows if I put the unit on the top bunk and vent the hot air out the screen windows would that work?
yes believe it would!! I actually was thinking about testing it out my pop out vent in the sleeper later today
I think this thing would be great on a sail boat or any boat with a birth
Just cut two holes ii the floor and plumb the hoses out, do it where you can cover holes when needed because catching the water is going to get old
was originally planning to do that when we got this last year on my truck and had it set up to use the under bunk vent but ended up not doing it
Looks like it would keep a truck nice for sleeping
Seems like it may b more
Efficient to allow the intake to used cab air and run the exhaust thru the window….
What’s emissions system
a big scam lol
Try out the Green APU. Your friend from FSC Trucking uses it in Orwell.
never gunna happen. We are good spending 18k on an APU

Like ur car does.

Where does all the condensation go from the machine
down a tube into a cup or bottle (we mentioned that a couple times)

Hi Alice and Martin
Man looked into that bc my apu absolutely sucks over 85 degrees in a black Pete. They’re so expensive. Cheaper than a apu but damn
