These were our 12 #TDU Takeaways from the epic Harbaugh introductory press conference yday:
1. Dean Spanos introduced Harbaugh yday whereas John Spanos introduced Staley in 2021. This is Dean’s hire and he wanted it to be known. Explicitly referenced providing Harbaugh with "whatever support and tools he needs to be successful" 💰
2. John Spanos acknowledging the 14 other HC candidates was smart. Hopefully r’ships have been forged with them and you never know when those will pay dividends in the future (coordinators, position coaches, etc).
3. Harbaugh’s self-confidence to say to the Owner in a public setting, ‘‘Dean, you’re one of the first in the building, I’ve been watching’ was awesome. No first-time HC would tell their Owner that they're being watched. Expect accountability from top to bottom with Jim's regime.
4. Harbaugh isn’t afraid to set the bar very high in LA. His goal is ‘multiple championships’ and that’s what it might take to win this city over. Were that to happen, the days of LA fans being outnumbered at SoFi will surely be over.
5. Harbaugh has made multiple references to Keenan Allen since being hired, including during yday's presser. Keenan isn’t going anywhere next season.
6. Harbaugh keeping a signed jersey of Junior Seau from his last football game in SD (and referencing it in the presser) was a nice touch. Hopefully, Harbaugh is the person who can bring together SD & LA fans, merging their past, present and future.
7. Harbaugh is experienced but not complacent: ‘I got to bring it. I got to bring my ‘A game’. Let’s see if I’m a good enough coach.’
That’s very refreshing to hear from an older and highly successful coach.
8. Although it’s presumed Jesse Minter will be the DC, it’s clearly not yet confirmed (per Harbaugh): ‘We’re going through a process [with Minter] right now.’ We are still expecting that the deal gets done in the coming days (any delay may be explained by Rooney Rule requirements).
9. 'Don’t let the powder blues fool ya’, this will be a physical football team. Expect harder practices than under previous regimes and a commitment to trench warfare. ‘We’re gonna win the Lombardi or die trying’ (per Harbaugh).
10. Harbaugh sees Special Teams as the ‘tone setters’. They start and set the tone for the game. Since Harbaugh was hired Coach Ficken has not interviewed for external roles and must be a decent chance to remain as ST coordinator (despite rumours about Jim's son taking over).
11. Harbaugh's focus on Offense is to ‘protect Herbert’s environment’. Fans should prepare themselves for more rush attempts, field goals and punting next season. Might not be welcome for some who've embraced analytics, but Harbaugh’s overall track record as HC speaks for itself.
12. ‘Faith, Family and Football’. A hackneyed cliche in football, but if it truly applies to any coach in the USA, it’s Jim Harbaugh, the new Chargers HC. Bring on Wk 1 already #BoltFam⚡😍

The fans, to include myself are motivated with this excitement with HarBaugh! I am 49 years old and have been watching the chargers since I was 9 years old!!! The times where the Chargers did great things is when they had great coaches!!!! Super excited for next season!!!
Same. I'm 52, and watched from Fouts era on up to now. I am afraid to be this excited. Been heartbroken so. many. times. But the culture change that this team needs might be exactly what Spanos FINALLY realized and got this coach! and all that is falling into place. boltup

Well, thanks for clarifying the excitement of this new Harbaugh experience. Chris and Money both said somegreat things to bring up the amping! As with some of the other fans I've been around since the late 70's loving the Chargers. I'm ready for a transformation to this team. We need it!

I believe Bowers with the 1st Rd pick is a lock. Harbaugh loved him coming out of HS & recruited him to Michigan. And at Michigan, a TE was the 2nd leading receiver in yards & receptions the last 6 years or so. Bowers is nasty & can do it all. Block, catch, seams, perimeter, backfield, etc. He’s generational & we can trade back to 8-10 & get another 2nd or 3rd.

Quentin Johnston was criminally under-coached last season. And, like the rest of the team, unmotivated.
QJ1 is from a military family. He needs a strong leader he can trust to lead him. Staley wasn't that guy.
QJ1 will be properly coached and will have something to prove. Harbaugh will get the very best out of him.

Maybe I'm reading too much into QJ's quote about being due a breakout, but IIRC he kinda said the same thing early in the seaaon in a Locked On Chargers interview, and I think he needs to reset his mindset. He's not due anything, he needs to make it happen.
QJ being horrible at catching footballs was not Staley's fault. His hands were horrible in college and he never should have been drafted where he was. I was screaming for them to draft Flowers, and instead we get the dude who can't catch a cold.
