Her cover of ‘Endless Enigma’ moves me to tears. She may be Keith Emerson’s best interpreter
What’s not to love about this woman? I’m a long time fan ,she’s a joy to behold .Good show buddy .
Thanks, Doug, for arranging to talk with this musical genius. Rachel is an epic talent.
She is such an example of the Human spirit & overcoming obstacles, showing just how marvelous Humans can achieve.
Rachel Flowers is probably one of the greatest living musicians on the planet today. Emotive, expressive, exciting, can you feel the planet rocking when she’s playing?!! Thank you, Rachel!
Rachel is phenomenal. Apart of keyboards, she plays guitar, bass guitar, Chapman stick, flute, and who knows what else. She's got gift from God
Wow Rachel Flowers!! Amazing interview so fascinating and between two wonderful people thank you so much Doug! Still have goose bumps remembering them early CZcams Emerson Lake and Palmer videos she performed on organ. Absolutely awe inspiring 👍
I just stumbled across a video of Rachel playing Tarkus on a grand piano at Progfest in 2017. I am BLOWN AWAY. Talk about a God-given talent beyond compare! Thank you Doug for this interview. She's a treasure that needs to be shared.
Rachel's got another new fan. Fabulous.
Fantastic world.
It's people like this that remind me how good it is to live.
Great! Rachel is a genius!
No clue how you got Annie Haslam to come on your show, and now Rachel Flowers? Doug, you're amazing.
What an amazing person Rachel is.
I am in awe of her genius *and* her delightful personality.
Yes! Kudos to you sir for bringing Rachel to more listeners. She is a beautiful unicorn.
She Is A Phenomenal Beautifully Spirited Woman And A Very Gifted Human Being because She Has Been Very Blessed With Doing what she Is Able to Do on a Piano 🎹!!!! This is my very first video of actually able to hear her talking. I have seen her on CZcams in many videos playing the piano and am Always Astounded and Amazed by How Good She Is No Matter What She Is Playing . Thanks to whoever posted this video on CZcams .
So supremely talented but yet so humble and down to earth. A multi instrumentalist to boot
2 of my favourite channel subscriptions come together. I bought the album, love it.
So much talent!!!
Rachel stay as sweet as you are & you'll always go far
Excellent idea for you two to do this great interview. Doug, you were an excellent listener, and well-prepared. And Rachel - well, her ELP cover videos make my heart sing. And she was a delight here. Seeing the video of her at Keith's tribute concert is truly moving. Doug, as we say in the south, "Good on ya!" PS - Doug, you have a great speaking voice, or "radio voice", as we used to say back in the day.
Rachel is wonderful! I've been a fan for years! She's an amazing musician and a really sweet person!
Keith Emerson wasa huge influence on many people, but his impact on her was the greatest!
Rachel is a gift to the world.
She has legit the best laugh in the universe. What an angel. This was definitely a high point in my life - watching two of my favorite people talk about music, and then she brings up Dream Theater AND James Horner?!
If God chose to take me tonight, I wouldn't complain. This was perfect!
(Now be a pal Doug and subscribe to her channel! 😆 🤣 😂)
Thank you Doug for this! So so so so special. Much love!!
I only discovered Rachel yesterday. Wow, what incredible talent
This girl is outstanding! ❤
I was talking to a piano, the other day, and it told me that it had learned everything it knew from Rachel Flowers.
Absolutely stunning. I think my jaw had dropped all through "The Darkness!" A wonderful interview with an absolutely charming young lady - with a very big talent. And I am in love with her laugh! Great interview, Doug!
She is absolutely amazing. I'd loved her keyboard videos for years, and then I saw her playing guitar with Dweezil Zappa. I've never heard anyone nail Frank's guitar style like she does. Absolutely mind-blowing.
Wonderful! ♥
I LOVE RACHEL! 🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵
This is fantastic, I don't know how I missed this 11 months ago. Thank you both!
Very nice interview, Doug. Rachel is a fantastic musician.
Oh wow Rachel Flowers on Doug's channel now i got to subscribe! This blind supertalented multiinstrumental girl is ls absolutely an underrated musiscian. To get an interview with her... oh wow!
Thanx so much Doug for this great interview with the most amazing Rachel Flowers! I have had the very good fortune to meet Rachel and her mother Jeanie and see Rachel play live several times on Cruise To The Edge and at Prog On The Ranch in Florida. Well done sir!
Just love Rachel. She’s a huge inspiration.
Oh man I went through and watched a lot of Rachel's videos a few years back. What a talent.
I've very recently been watching tons of Rachel's videos on CZcams, especially her amazing performances of Emerson, Lake & Palmer classics. And now suddenly Doug has an interview with her. It's almost like the next step in CZcams's recommendation algorithms -- they got Doug to create new content based on my watch history. 🙂
Never knew she could sing!
Wonderful interview and plays...thank you Doug!
Great job. Awesome performer
Thank you Rachel and Doug.
YES!!!!
What a pleasant surprise. Rachel is one of my all-time favorite musicians. Thanks for the interview.
So many different types of flowers, add Rachel to the list.
Thank you so much Doug for this wonderful interview. It was such a pleasure to listen to two beautiful people & learn more about this amazing young lady. Best wishes to you both.
I've been waiting for one of the bigger youtube analysts to interview Rachel. I figured it would be Rick Beato but bravo to you and your listeners Doug. She is Incredible. Check out her video with Dweezil Zappa where she does a spot on Frank solo.
Yes! I've never heard anyone embody Frank's style like she did, and I didn't even know she played guitar! I had already been a huge fan of her keyboard playing.
@@sledzeppelin she sounds more like Frank than Dweezil, Mike Keneally, Vai or anyone else I've heard try and play like Frank. The FZ nuances in that solo were just uncanny. It was like Frank was being channeled through her with Dweezil watching with his jaw open. It's really an astounding video. Like you I had only heard of her prog-ELP style music and classical piano offerings. She is a monster metal/fusion guitarist. Her compositions are amazing and her voice has grown on me and is really unique and fabulous. Excited to hear her classical jazz tinged work.
Wow what a beautiful soul she has. You can tell she has perfect pitch. Just outstanding talent! God Bless.
Thanks, Doug for hosting Rachel. It was so nice to learn about the person behind the music!
Lots of fun! Doug, if you haven't listened to Rachel playing Steve Reich's Piano Phase, I recommend it. It kept me spellbound.
Rachel is a walking music encyclopedia.
She's amazing! Been following her career for years :)
Wow. So, so looking forward to watching this. I've loved her work since I first saw her videos a decade ago.
Love this!Rachel is sooo gifted...Hugz to Rachel and Ty brother for sharing
I knew you'd enjoy Rachel. Thanks for the great interview.
🙂
Loved Rachel's piece!
Thank you, Doug!
Very informative interview.
Brilliant man. Great interview.
Great interview.
Didn't know she could sing as well! Absolutely loved this, instantly loved this
Rachel plays Tarkus at 'Welcome Back My Friends...' tempo! Lol.
Awesome, dude!
Congrats on a great interview. I would suggest you do a Doug's choice Extended Play Lounge of her album Bigger on the Inside.
A brilliant musician, a nice lady and so unblemeished person.... so innocent that I did't hear the other f-word. :) And I have heard so many good renditions of his music by her, and also live performances with Dweezel..
There's the Yes connection, Tom Brislin played keys on "Magnification", and outstandingly I might add.
This girl has skills.
Thanks, Doug for profiling Rachel, this wonder of wonders.
I loved the performance she did with Dweezil Zappa.
ELP GIRL!!!
Love Rachel.
Lovely talented lady, and very sweet.
Wow! Just discovered Rachel (playing Karn Evil 9).
Rachel is an absolute monster of music. It`s not only the fact that she can play anything but she is also an incredible composer and singer too.
Bigger On The Inside is a fantastic record. You can preview the entiore thing on her Bandcamp, BTW. Her brother Vaughn did the cover.
Now that is talent!
Based Rachel 🌸 🌸
Keith Emerson lives on… Nice ELP album cover in the background.
Going to Red Bank as well, and am thrilled that Rachel ws gonna be there and that was the decidi9ng factor.
I'll see you there
Hi Doug, have watched many of your shows now down under (Australia) and really appreciate what you do! Am a big Zappa, Genesis, Yes, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull fan etc. If not done so already might be worth you having a look at John McLaughlin Mahavishnu Orchestra
Album "Visions of The Emerald Beyond", amazing guitarist and instrumentals in general. Also Zappa "Zoot Allures" and "You Are What You Is" might also be worthy of a look. Anyway thanks again as I really enjoy hearing your take on groups I have been into since the 70's. Kind Regards, Warren.
It's interesting that Phil Lynott reminded me of Frank Sanatra's style of delivering/starting a vocal line 'late/behind the beat' (Cowboy Song live), is a prime example.
One of your best chats!!!
Keep doing!
Rachel is preparing a new album, "In the moment", with solo piano improvisations.
You can hear a few awesome tracks from it at her CZcams channel.
I love Rachel's latest album!
I do too. The orchestration on The Darkness is amazing.
Rachel Flowers is a full-on Being Of Music.
This woman is PHENOMENAL. Why hasn't Carl Palmer reached out to her to join his band. His band sounds terrible without keyboards. Keith is gone, but Rachel can fill his shoes perfectly.
I learned drums by ear and by feel (as in: what felt right to play next). My parents got a me drum tutor when I was 10 who kinda gave up on me after a couple months telling my parents that I'm already m,ore advanced than he could teach me. At that point, all I had was a snare drum with a very small ride cymbal on it. Now, I've got a 13-piece set and can play it blindfolded. I used to play entire 4-hour gigs blindfolded.
Rachel is a really cool chick. I love her talent! And she seems very endearing to speak with.
One of those short passages reminded me of Pat Metheny : )
Rachel's very talented.
Rachel Flowers Army!
Yes Ma'am!!
Fantastic Artist!!
I'm not worthy!!
❤️👍Rock!
I would like to understand what your thoughts about experimental or free jazz as well as experimental classical music.
Donny Hathaway as well.
The first time I saw her was with Zappa. Think it was peaches en regalia. She is great..
I do have a suggestion Doug...have you ever heard of "Electro Swing" music???A great example can be found on you tube... a live concert.. Parov Stelar "Live at Sziget" the piece is entitled "Clap your hands"...
Croud fund a big eurorack modular for Rachel .
Doug, would you consider analyzing a classical piece from time to time for us mostly rock fans? I think it would be fascinating. You said Rachmaninoff concertos are wonderful and I'd love to know from your perspective, how and why.
+1. But Doug could start with the only band who really fused classical music with rock: The Enid. The bandleader is a classical
pianist Robert-John Godfrey.
Here is a pure classical piece, all done by him just like Rachel Flowers, with Rachmaninov written all over it. I would love Doug to give his opinion on it

Next, try to get some time with Carl Palmer about his upcoming shows with his current bandmates and video of Keith and Greg.
That Moog is probably easier to play standing up, like Keith did.
Sorry, is it available on CD? (don't do streaming).
Just a reminder....she also plays flute. Understatement. Check her out. Rachel is a genius.
...and guitar, and bassguitar, and drums, and saxophone, and violin.....
Whoa, for real?? What a gal.@@MaxHoukes
Oops, I forgot to mention she also plays the Chapman Stick
Well of course....lordy. And the thing is, she's not just a flute player but a WICKED BEBOP flute player. Something from the other side came through with Rachel. @@MaxHoukes
Check out Rachel playing Piano Phase by Steve Reich. It is mind blowing and jaw dropping.
... in her payamas
I watch alot of your videos, and enjoy them. Have an idea for you. Why don't you work with the genius Rachel Flowers and create a piece of music?
She sounds almost exactly like Billie Burke!!
You should react to some Destiny 1/2 soundtrack music. Really great video game music!
Doug, Could you react to ''Desperados Under The Eaves'' by Warren Zevon
Duet with Michael McDonald would be fire on this.
