Dance moms has inspired me to become a dancer and my parents say when we have enough money to pay for my lessons they will make my dream come true so watching dance moms had made me look up to dance moms
Same but I'm not flexible
With all the negatives, it’s still insane how much this show inspired me growing up as a competitive dancer. I can honestly say it made me a stronger recipient to harsh criticism, and still probably helps me to this day in that sense as a 29 year old woman.
That’s funny when I started watching this I was like OMG this is so not real lmao. I danced for 15 years I also taught for 2 years and was a dance mom for 10 years. My dance years were done by the time this started but I was a dance mom lol this show was so unrealistic even though some things hit home once in a while but not most and this is coming from the very very competitive world of Southern California dancers.

My favorite part about dance moms is I only like the og group. It’s been off air for a while. And I’m still hooked on these folks.
Another suggestion: Studio Director Dianna Williams learned vital lessons from Dance Moms. Williams put her foot down with a critical rule for the copycat series Bring It!, which was based on her Jackson Mississippi studio: No Moms were allowed in the studio during video production - not at all - not even a little bit.
That’s great and and all and at a lot of studios that’s the way it was… but dance moms is called dance moms for a reason lmao. They were grown as women who knew exactly what they were signing themselves and their kids up for.
The way she talked to the girls was very different the way Abby treated her girls

Ah I just can’t get behind dance moms would have been just as successful with the kid and mom turnover at 14. It’s lovely bc you connect to these and grow with them and you feel a kinship and sisterhood. Still, great interview❤

I think a lot of people abandoned luxuries around the time the show was made. Tourism, hospitality, recreation and retail did very badly

She was a tough teacher but she was also a very good one. The show actually ruined her life tbh. She made really bad decisions but the biggest one was allowing this show to air honestly. That flash of fame she got ruined her entire business

It’s too bad that the senior dance group wasn’t right for the show. Most of their moms wouldn’t go with them to competitions because they were old enough to take care of themselves and get stage ready. And younger ones wouldn’t be old enough or seasoned enough to go to competitions. The tween group was the only logical choice to get the dynamic the producers wanted.

on the flipside I'll bet the show also helped your business survive... can't really compare since we don't know what would have happened to the ALDC without the TV exposure, but I bet the pros = cons when it comes to what reality tv can do for and against a business like this
probably had it been the six episodes it would have helped. But that many seasons would have caused kids to gradually leave.
Throughout all of Dance Moms I could see how insane the mothers acted. They had no respect for Abby and didnt know how to keep their mouths shut. Let the teacher be the teacher. An old saying, "the student (in this case, mothers) are never greater than the teacher.
I think most people would have still watched for the dancing and normal disagreements amongst the cast. The extra drama and sketchy editing wasn’t needed
finally all these parents needs to take responsibility, so glad Abby spoke out cs these parents really playing victim instead they were and always were the drama
I can’t believe the cast does not get paid residuals, but what can we expect when they give each person $35 a day to live on? Ridiculous. I’m sorry that her business suffered because of the show, but she is a millionaire now, so… worth it or no? I wish Abby would answer (as if she’ll ever ever see this lol)

Every time I watch the show over again, I get so upset at those mothers. They ruined that show. I know you were out of line way too many times, but, if those mothers weren’t there, those kids would love you, and you would love them. It’s crazy because I thought it was you for many years, but, it wasn’t. It was them.
