When the concrete is soft or you hit mortar and concrete screws won't bite, I find it best to use anchors. My favourites are Toggler Alligator fasteners as they work for dry wall as well. I actually don't use concrete screws anymore. They are horrible for applications that vibrate (basketball hoop, sliding door rail, gates etc..) as they transfer the vibration & make the concrete crumble. Whereas a fastener works as a buffer between the hard screw and concrete.
Really nice video again. I've quickly become a fan of your channel.
PS. I think I have the exact same bubble level as you, lol. (The smaller one)
A man who takes pride in his work. Do it once and do it properly.
Beautifully done. The dowels really complete the look (which I hadn't expected). Good on ya.!
It's a must to have fish and chips whilst your DIYing!! Looks fab
Looks lovely. As an accident prone diyer I am very familiar with the makeshift bandage.
Crackin job - your attention to detail is 1st class
Top work as ever, looks lovely
Nice oak beam you have done very good work there. I love working with oak one of my favourite timbers
great job. looks amazing.
Terrific job as always, wish i had you patience
Looks great!
new Makita miter saw and table saw :) someone must be a happy chap
🙁 Not mine, just happened to be set up while Dad and a friend fitted bathroom.
The Restoration Couple Gutted, top equipment to work with, I suppose its good to get a goof feel and test of expensive bits like that to see if they are worth the dollar for how much you will use them in the future!
Nice job, as always ;-)
Excellent videos, what stain are you using to bring the oak out so lovely.
Hi Tim, great job. What drill bit did you use for the 12mm countersink hole?
And plug cutter.. (mine are awful)
Ebauer set from screwfix. Very sharp and worked well to date. Hope was cut with a 12mm forstner bit.
This beam isn't going anywhere! :)
I think that the external fixings were not necassary. the batten was sufficient!
Not needed to hold it up but needed to keep tight against wall especially as the timber will most likely want to cup slightly.
What happened to your hand Tim? ✋
Pushed my hand on a shard of ceramic tile. Cut like a knife. Nothing a bit of tissue and tape won’t fix 👌
Dan Huddart too much wanking thinking of his piece of oak
In repsonse to your comment Rach, I got mine from Stoves Man (www.stovesman.co.uk)
