Hammersmith J Bass Funk Rock Grooves

- Here are some fun grooves I came up with while jamming on my Hammersmith :) This bass has a swamp ash body, maple neck & for this vid a set of Nordstrand nj4se pickups. The bridge pup is in the 70's position & I really love it that I can switch between JJ & PJ on this bass :) I recorded it with an Ebs Microbass II preamp/DI & used an Ebs Multicomp compressor, towards the end I used a Multidrive & a Boss dd-5 pedal as well. I made the drums with midi drum pads & Addictive Drums software & did the recording and mixing in Cubase. Thanks for watching!

Really great sound! I'm wondering what settings you are using on your Microbass and multicomp? Keep the good work up!
Glad you're digging it Percy! On the Microbass I've set the bass at 50%, treble at 60 & the gain boost at 30, I'm using input A & didn't use any of the extra features. The Multicomp has the gain on 40%, the comp/limit on 60 & it's set to multiband mode. Thanks for dropping by!
Thanks Remco! It sounds like you are running the preamp before the multicomp instead of the other way around, or am i mistaken? I really like your compressed sound!

When you play would you say your strumming/plucking technique is hard, medium or soft ? seems like your really going at it when you play and does that put a toll on hands on long gig's.

When playing funk rock I'd say mostly medium to hard, but I feel there isn't much tension on the muscles. I've worked on making it more of a controlled technique after it did wear me out on longer gigs. I can happily groove on for hours now :) Cheers!
