Funky Bass Grooves with P/J Pickups

- Having a good time with some funky thumb/fingerstyle grooves & a set of P/J pickups :) On this Hammersmith bass I can change fairly easy between P, J, or reverse P pickups at the neck position, fun stuff! I used no effects, just an Ebs Multicomp compressor, the signal was recorded with an Ebs Microbass II preamp/DI. As some guy who plays a bunch of instruments but recently started focusing on playing my own fingerstyle on the bass. i just want to say thank you for giving me great inspiration. I love how you mix chords and percussive/rhythmic mutes together perfectly like no one else. Great job.
one step closer to the p-bass.... you're on a good way ;) seriously, I think your style would sound amazing on a P-bass with flats.

+Yousif , I ordered D'addario half wound chromes from Amazon and never recieved them , I can't find them anywhere.
Do flatwound strings sound , well flat , can you slap flatwound.

Paco I use D'addario custom roundwounds.
45 -105 , I've never tried flats but almost tried half wounds but they cost more , how about DR black beauties.
I need my strings a little lower and tried everything , read about shimming the neck but am afraid of taking my neck off placing a small piece of plastic in the pocket , seems that would throw off the the strings by the nut.
Do you know anything about this.
My Fender J bass is only 3 years old.

Stumbled on this thanks to a forum post that had your vid as an example. Been playing on and off for a good number of years now, but I'm completely self taught. I know it's an unrealistic expectation, but the gap between us feels insurmountable. Even so, you have a tone and style that just speaks to me and is exactly the sort of thing I'd love to develop. This was 6 years ago. I can only imagine where you are today. Thanks for putting together the vid. I may never come close in my lifetime, but it's inspiring.
Because of Remco's vids (and other vids like his), I've created a smartphone app called "Nearest Dumpster Fire." It's a free app that tells you where the nearest open dumpster fire is to your location so you can take all your guitars and basses to it and drop them in.

Glad you're digging it! Tone is on full, J pup at 60% and P is on full as well. On my Ebs Microbass preamp I've set the treble at 60% and bass around halfway, that's about it. Thanks for dropping by!
