@@cindiloowhoo1166 the point that i am making is that well lets make this easy. What Moses wrote in the book of the law that includes the 10. All that Jesus fulfilled was written in that book. We are under a New Covenant, New High Priest, and in the New way of the Spirit. NOT to the letter of the law which is what Moses wrote down. Therefore since they (SDA) continue to read and go by the OLD Covenant its clear that they have not met JESUS because the word or God says that
"Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away."
The veil is still over their hearts because 1) They say JESUS is Michael 2) Jesus is still atoning for out sin's, 3) Jesus did not sit at the right hand of the father til 1844 4) That Jesus whom is GOD holds record of our sins even if we repent. ETC. When you believe things like this how can you seen Jesus? The bible tells us different then what they teach and believe.

The book of Colossians presents a powerful critique of the legalistic tendencies that had crept into the early Christian church. In chapter 2, the apostle Paul directly addresses the dangers of asceticism and an overemphasis on human traditions, warnings that strikingly undermine key Adventist doctrines.
Verse 16 states, "Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day." This directly challenges the Adventist insistence on observing the Sabbath as a means of earning salvation or proving one's righteousness. Paul makes it clear that such Sabbath-keeping should not be used as a measure of a believer's standing before God.
Furthermore, verse 17 describes these "religious festivals, New Moon celebrations and Sabbath days" as "a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ." This undermines the Adventist veneration of the Mosaic law and the eternal binding nature of the Ten Commandments. Paul sees these Old Testament observances as mere shadows that have been fulfilled in the person and work of Jesus.
Verse 20 goes on to ask, "Since you died with Christ to the basic principles of this world, why, as though you still belonged to it, do you submit to its rules?" This challenges the Adventist preoccupation with dietary restrictions, holy days, and legalistic rules - things that Paul clearly sees as belonging to the old, pre-Christian order that believers have been freed from through the death and resurrection of Christ.
In light of these powerful statements, Colossians 2 stands as a stern rebuke of the core tenets of Adventism. It unequivocally rejects the notion that obedience to the Mosaic law, including Sabbath-keeping, is necessary for salvation or spiritual growth. Instead, it points us to the sufficiency and supremacy of Christ, in whom we find true freedom from the bondage of legalism.

@@ChrisTian-tz3eq We don't need to cling to the shadow when we have the substance.
The language of "shadows" and "types" points to the transitory, preparatory nature of these Old Testament practices. They were never intended to be permanent observances, but rather pointers to the Messiah. Now that he has come, we don't need to hold on to the shadows.
So while I appreciate the desire to find spiritual significance in these things, I think Paul's message is that we are free from obligation to them. The true spiritual reality is found in our relationship with Christ, not in keeping a religious calendar.

The Sabbath then became the Moses law not a divine law, Jesus came and save us from our sins we don't need a authoritarian law to get salvation.

Everything in the New Testament record has to be read in light of the Council of Jerusalem, Acts 15. You all need to read the whole chapter, along with focusing on the letter to the churches in the region of Galatia. The unanimous agreement by the early church leaders gathered there in Jerusalem with James, Jesus brother leading, was that the belivers from a Jewish background could not bring Jewish traditions and practices into the Ecclesia, circumcision being the main hot button issue, but including all other Jewish mandates and practices as well. In exchange for setting aside those Jewish practices, they agreed that the churches of those from predominantly Greek (pagan) origins would not bring into the Ecclesia, pagan traditions and practices... because: Galatians 3:28, "There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male and female..."
These early church leaders rejected the Judaizers, as well as rejected the pull of the pagan temples to embrace pagan praxtices as they experienced this entirely new thing that God through the Spirit was doing.
I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm willing to put money on it that none of you guys want to resurrect circumcision as a mandate for getting into heaven?

    • @alllthatinacan
      @alllthatinacan Před měsícem

Paul makes clear that circumcision pointed to Jesus being "Cut off", and also the circumcision of the heart. He stated that circumcision of the flesh is nothing and non circumcision is nothing. There is a clear distinction between the commandments of God and the Levitical law. Again we see that the moral law remains but the levitical laws (also called ordinances in the OT and NT) were types of Jesus and His antitypical fulfillment.
So yes, in Acts 15, Paganism was nipped in the bud: no pollutions of idolatry, drinking of blood, or strangled animals or fornication. This would specifically address commandments 1 and 2 to worship God above all and to have no other gods; commandment 7 to not commit adultery; and it would also uphold the Mosaic law which forbade eating blood or strangled flesh.
Don't forget to include Acts 15:21 where it was assumed that the gentiles would be learning more and more every Sabbath, because obviously abstaining from four listed items is not the fullness of the christian walk with Jesus. There is an entire Bible full of Holy Spirit inspired instruction to live the christian life.

Adventism teaches their sabbath because of egw. Everything they hold to, like what Doug says, is based on her visions. They teach their distinctive doctrines, which are based on her visions, because as a cult adventism strives to be "special, exclusive, unique, etc. Adventism goes against the sufficiency of Christ Jesus atonement finished work on the cross, resurrection, and ascension into heaven itself seated at the right hand of God the father.
"Why go back to the old and its ordinances when the new has come?
The sketch is taken from the reality, and implies the existence of it. The shadow is the intended likeness of the substance. In other words, Christianity was not fashioned to resemble Judaism, but Judaism was fashioned to resemble Christianity. The antitype is not constructed to bear a likeness to the type, but rather the other way around. It is, in short, because of the antitype that the type exists. The Mosaic economy being a rude draft of Christianity, presupposed its future existence. A good example of this truth is Paul's observation that Christ our Passover has been sacrificed for us (1 Co 5:7). In contrast to shadows, "the body is of Christ." There is no allusion here to Christ's physical body or to His body the church, for body is used in opposition to shadow and means substance or reality. Why should one grasp for a shadow when he holds the substance in is hand? The new age of the gospel has brought the blessings to which the old economy pointed. To return to the old is to turn back the clock and lose the blessed reality of the finished work of Christ with all its attendant mercies." Ref.(Everett F. Harrison, Everyman's Bible Commentary Colossians P.66)

Adventist say God made the Sabbath Day at the end of creation that is not true, God blessed the 7th day & made it holy & rested on the 7th day,he did not give it to man,& did not call it the Sabbath. Adventism is twisting the truth. In Genesis 3:17 God told Adam thru painful toil u will eat of it ALL days of ur life, Adam didn’t have a Sabbath Day. From Adam to Moses took 2500 yrs & in that time no one never heard of the Sabbath until in Exodus 16:23-35. Adventist preach that Sabbath was made for man at creation is a lie.Deut 5:1-5 God summoned ALL of Israel & said the Lord our God made a covenant with us at Horeb, it was NOT with our fathers that the Lord made this covenant, but with us who are alive HERE today, mankind was not there only the,If God wanted Mankind to observe the Sabbath God would of said so & not used the word Israel. In Duet 5:15 in the commandments God said remember that you were slaves in Egypt & the Lord ur God brought you out of there with a mighty hand & an outstretched arm. Therefore the Lord ur God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day.If you can’t understand that you need a brain transplant.

@@alllthatinacanIt was God who rested upon completion of that creation. He blessed and sanctified that seventh day wherein he rested. The narrative does not say God sanctified and blessed every seventh day, nor does the narrative say God invoked this rest for Adam and Eve. They did not work; God worked. Adam and Eve were created the day before.
To claim they were to rest from their labors the day after they were
created, and had not worked to begin with does not enter the mind of the Sabbatarian.
This belief is not subjected to any critical thinking or proper Biblical scholarship. What it says is not near as important as what they think it says, where they read into the text what is not there.
It should also be noted that this day shows having no end to it. God is still “resting” from that work, and the author of Hebrews mentions that it is this rest of God's that Christians can enter into while it is still called, “To day” and it is a rest entered into through faith. Israel, who had the weekly sabbath, did not enter into God's rest due to their faithlessness. Therefore, to equate the rest of God on that seventh day with the recurring seventh day sabbath is unscriptural. See Heb 4.

They reject Christ sacrifice and the grace and righteousness by faith that the Father offers us to have our penalty paid by it . None has ever kept the law including the keeping of the Sabbath, the reason the Lord made the way through Christ to come home . But yet Adventism tells us we have to be perfect in keeping the law to be saved , and no I don’t want to step on the law , but it is not a salvational requirement! And the 7th day in Genesis does not have a morning and evening as the days of creation . God did not creat another day . Also , I have to say it again that Deuteronomy 5:15 tells us that the Sabbath is there for the Israelite nation that was led out off Egypt as a memorial that God led them out . It need not connote this anymore than it connotes that He ascended to heaven in our place. The word “substitutionary,” properly employed, applies solely to Christ’s taking our place at the cross, doing for us what we could never do for ourselves, that is, perish in the second death (Revelation 20:6) and still live for eternity. In paying the price for our sins He alone could be our substitute. This is the most glorious good news-the wondrous exchange.”-NORMAN R. GULLEY TOWARD UNDERSTANDING THE ATONEMENT (1990), JOURNAL OF THE ADVENTIST THEOLOGICAL SOCIETY, PG. 68
The Adventist Jesus was only a substitute in so far as he died for you. That’s it. When he says he didn’t live a life so that YOU don’t have to be fitted for heaven, he means sinless perfectionism. That Jesus’s perfect sinless life is not yours, only his substitutionary death. Glory of the New Covenant
7 But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, 8 how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? 9 For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. 10 For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels. 11 For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much more glorious.
12 Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech- 13 unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away. 14 But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. 15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. 16 Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

But once He came those laws or rites were no longer needed. See Hebrews 10: 1-2; 9: 9-10. God wrote the Moral law with His finger -Moses wrote the ceremonial with his 'Hand". My God! This is absolute murdering of the Word of God! I literally cringed at his every word and twisting of the scriptures. Due to EGW'S legacy, Adventists pastors continue to read the Bible backwards by moving between OT and NT, manipulating scriptures at will.
Adventists have to make up their minds: one is either a follower and doer of the OT - ALL of 603 by-laws, together with the 10 - making it 613! (Deut. 27:26) If one is a follower and doer of the NT, one can't go back to the OT Law of Moses - given by God - because Christ, SENT BY THAT SAME GOD has already fulfilled all the requirements of the Law which was AGAINST US - Jews and Gentiles - as Paul teaches in the NT.
The Bible is not disjointed, it follows the UNIFIED story of Christ. Moses told Israel that God would raise a prophet like him - among them - and they were to listen to him (Deut. 18:15) He told them this because God had already told him same (Deut. 15:18-19) This was REPEATED by Peter in Acts 3:22. JESUS CHRIST was the one Moses had spoken about; He was the one referenced by Peter. John says it plainly: "For the Law - (meaning the WHOLE BOOK OF THE LAW) - was given by Moses BUT grace and truth came by Jesus Christ (John 1:17) You either follow Moses - or Christ!
The Law of Moses, as referenced by Christ, in Luke 24:44, consists of the 5 Books of Moses or Pentateuch (Greek word) OR Torah (Hebrew word). Do Adventists know or consider the fact that the Hebrew Bible, the TANAKH, consisting of the Torah, Nevi'im and Ketuvim (5 Books of Moses, plus the Prophets and other writings) The Hebrew Bible do not contain the New Testament.
All this means that the it's really "the Jews Sabbath," and they valued THEIR SABBATH, hence Christ left it for them and didn't make a big deal of it - neither did His disciples (Rom. 14:5-6) and in the days of Moses; their fathers, GENTILES (also referred to as STRANGERS in the OT) did not have the Law or were keeping ANY SABBATH. Paul said it in Romans 2:14. Reading through Exodus to Malachi verifies that. Before Christ, Gentiles were not considered "People of God!" In the OT, Gentiles were: Israel's enemies, the surrounding nations, Strangers! Modern Jews still see non- Jews/Gentiles as strangers, not being God's people. And does Doug know that the Orthodox Jews - Judaizers - who don't believe in Christ - still keep as many of the OT feasts so his interpretation of Rom. 14:5-6 doesn't hold water...and which Jew "esteemeth every day alike," when the 7th day Sabbath was cherished; that it had been given to THEIR FATHERS; THEIR GENERATIONS BY GOD? See how Adventists themselves "esteemeth one day above another!" Oh, Doug! Try again 😂
Before Christ came, any Gentile/non-Jew - particularly, a male, who chose to serve the "God of Israel," had to be CIRCUMCISED because the Jews were still under the Law of Moses. (Shh...Is Doug circumcised? 😀) This is so much because, as is their trademark, Adventists MISREPRESENT scripture!
Anyways, NONE OF THE SCRIPTURES quoted by Doug from the OT to make his erroneous case for the Sabbath has ANY references to the New Testament! 2 Chr. 33:8 is referenced to 2 Sam. 7:10....Deut. 4:13 is referenced to Deut. 9:9, 11; Ex. 34:28; Ex. 24:12 Deut. 4:14 is referenced to Ex. 21:1 and Chapter 23; 2 Kings 21:8 also sends you to 2 Sam. 7:10; Deut. 31:26 is referenced to 2 Kings 22:8! Everyone who has a good grasp of the Bible knows that the OT contains mainly the history of Israel with God. It's there for our learning.
Did Doug read the preceding verses of Deut. 4 before he violently seized verses 13-14? The Bible has to be read in context, not pouncing on single scriptures that seem to support their beliefs.
Christ referenced the OT on many occasions to show the Jews that His words came from THEIR SCRIPTURES; that His words came from God; therefore, whatever words that didn't come from the mouth of Christ - or His disciples - whatever COMMAND THAT CHRIST DID NOT REPEAT FROM THE OT; whatever is not commanded by Christ in the NT is certainly not compulsory, not binding on His followers BECAUSE GOD DID NOT GIVE HIM, CHRIST, THOSE WORDS!
Finally (still 😀) God's Law is ONE WHOLE - ONE BODY - INDIVISIBLE! You break one, you break all. (James 2:10) This was for the Jewish Christians who still wanted to keep the Law of Moses - and for Gentile Christians under the Law of Liberty! ADVENTISTS, there's no liberty under 613 LAWS, Law of Moses, 10 Commandments. Make up your mind...MOSES OR CHRIST! Research into the 10 Commandments, on a Jewish website, will tell you that there is ONE CEREMONIAL LAW in the 10 Commandments and that is the Sabbath Law! ....Whoosh! 😀

If you read the account of the Sabbath in particular, it was for the Israelites and for the strangers, aka non Israelites. Not necessarily so with the ordinances which in many cases required circumcision before one could participate. In some cases, generations had to go by before participation would take place.
