- Hi everyone. Just popping in to say good morning with a few how ya goings, shake hands, turns, scratches and kisses! Hope you're all doing well!
Can you believe I am now 12 years old and I'm still saying the same things I learned in the first few years of my life. My little brain is full to capacity but I still love to surprise my parronts with how I use my words.
I love the purring noise they make like a cat lol 😂

I've had Quakers all my life. They are the best. They can be moody or sporadic but they are truly beautiful little creatures. Amazing personalities!
I'm thinking about having a quaker. how are they? can you tell me the personalities and how to take care of them? BTW i have the experience of living with a love-saurus...no lovebird

As they get older, are they more tolerant of petting and gently removing pin feathers? My 4 year old has learned to tolerate about 4 seconds!!

I have a Quaker parrot.I found mine at the pet smart parking lot he was hungry and dirty, so we took it home🐦🐦🐦

Oh that's nice of you did you put a advert saying found ? I found a lace wing cockatail no one claimed her so we kept her. But she died a out 4 or 5 years later .I think she escaped from a avery.
@@andyp9131 - *Cockatiel* . Another name for cockatiel is Nymph Cockatoo (since it is the smallest of the cockatoos).
I would take him home also.
Luckily he was rescued.
I loved watching your video. Our Quaker just pasted away this month after 25 years of amazing relationship. Igit was truly a gift from God.

Oh iam so sorry for your loss I just lost my red rump parakeet after 12 years I think mine hay have had a stroke has she could not walk properly and would fall over if she went to the right .I had to put her to sleep has when I came home from shopping she was crying on her side .and it cruel to put them though pain .are you having another one ?
I feel the same I lost my first parrot ever I loved him so much we even had lier first times carrying him but he got really sick and he past away about 3 years ago :(

Oh he is so precious. My 18 year old Quaker just passed away. We are heartbroken. Jewels was a gift from Heaven. I miss him so much.

I ove your Quaker think hes amazing Iost my red rump lash Thursday the 7 she was 11 and a half i took her to the vet has even i came back she was crying on the botto. Of her cage . And when i picked her up she could not stand up i thought it could have been a strike and the et said the same .she took her in the back in her smaller cage and called me has I was outside due to covid and she the vet said I've gave her 25 mins and she is going round and round . . That's when I said put her to sleep I dont want to see her suffer . Her ashes are coming back this week . Xxx

i had a same parrot and he flew away today and I was really very sad coz we are in india and it’s quite difficult for him to survive here,I just saw this video and I thought he would be Roming and would be really happy enjoying his independence and your parrot is literally same as mine I am missing very much may God bless this cute
I am so sorry for you. Have you tried putting his cage outside? Sometimes they don’t go far when they first leave and leaving their cage out can be seen as a comfort to them. Fingers crossed he comes back
@@plutoquaker yes i have,actually the real problem is that i’m an indian (obv.in india) and he flew away here ..i’m scared if the other birds don’t harm him,he gets food and water..his medicines were also going on...just plz reply is there any chance of him to comeback if he has lost in india,i miss him veryyy much n today is the 3rd day
There’s always a chance. :) but you may need to go looking for him and calling his name. I’m not sure if you can put up some lost bird flyers where you are but that can sometimes help. If people spot him you can take your cage to that area and he may come to it. Fingers crossed. xx

Had a quaker as a young kid.. we were inseparable. "Bird" lived on my shoulder or was always close by. I really loved that bird.
My mother's cancer returned and that time it was the end.. everything after her death got split up.
I couldn't take bird with me. So my sister kept him and one day called me to tell me he flew into a window and broke his neck.
The one thing a never understood about my friend... towards the end he got mean. I never was mean or teased him... but he just became so mean. It was to the point his bites didn't phase me. Always wondered why he got so mean... nothing changed but he did.
So sorry for your losses. xx
It’s hard to understand why they can become ‘mean’ but they can often pick up on our emotions too. Going through all those hard times and living with your sister without you may have upset his routine and sadly reflected on his nature with you and others.
For parrots, we are THEIR world. Often they live in a cage and all they can do is watch us and our daily activities. Any little change can disrupt that and they can react on ways we don’t quite understand.

Sometimes he did. I would put a couple pieces of paper towel in and change it out if there were any messes.

I just brought my quaker boy home yesterday. I wanna spoil him with things to do. So far he has a couple toys and some different shaped and textured perches. Listening to this video, he can hear your bird so he is chirping loudly in return. 😊 Mine is 7 months old.

I miss my Quaker Cocoa. He was my best friend. I found him in June at the bottom of his cage. I didn't even get to say goodbye. Get a Quaker and you can't go wrong.

I have a quacker parrot and his name is chubby but he bites
So it wasn't just mine. They're all like that. Every little manurism from the feet touching to (NOT MEAN) But aggressively outgoing attacking toys that you shake constantly nipping or acting like they're going too the putting the squeaks in between even the different kind of purs are the same
My Quaker just learned to wave and say "hiiiii" very happy like! He says a few things as well.

Yep! My quaker that I grew up with did too. He would lay upside-down on my hand and I would give him head and leg massages until he fell asleep.

Years ago I had a Quaker named Diego but he never learned to talk or whistle even though I tried teaching him. All he did was squawk and scream!!

I happen to have a Quaker parrot/"Monk Parakeet", as well.
I'm trying to get him to talk like how Pluto is doing, but, he's only 7½ months old.
It takes time. Pluto learned all he knows over about 5 years and now he is essentially on repeat. 😂😂

He doesn’t sleep in it at night but does play in it during the day. It’s called a Jolly Ball and I bought it many years ago so am not sure where you could find one now. Just try google. :)
I’ve had my Quaker, Oats, since he was just a tiny little baby. I hand fed him and everything. He’s now about 7 months and I’m finding that he’s very skidding and I’m not sure why. He’s scared of new toys, new perches, etc. he’s a sweetheart otherwise. He purrs, makes robot sounds, makes kissing sounds, and gives kisses. But he is just so scared of anything new coming into his cage. Do you have any sort of tips on how to make them not so scared of new things? It’s literally his only hangup. If something new is brought in, he’ll go to the back of his cage and sort of hiss for a while
Ahhh... most Quaker’s behave the same. Yup is to slowly bring anything new closer and closer to the cage and leave it outside the cage for a while before introducing it inside. Hope it helps. :)

I remember it being around a 6" I think. I just googled and it's actually called - Jolly Pets Teaser Ball - as it is for ferrets!
Ploto got some new feathers coming in I break open those things on my Quaker Ricky he just loves it when I do it
