- Today I repotted some rare houseplants into Leca as we continue transferring everything over from an aroid mix. We repot a caramel marble, philodendron green congo nuclear, a beautiful mint monstera and my favorite monstera albo. Plus much more! We even found an ant colony living in one of the pots. Wow those blooms on your obovata are exceptional 😮
I can’t wait for them to flower! 🌸
Yeah man! LECA is the way to go if you are collecting a lot of plants. They grow good roots! Also I am into Fluval Stratum as well. It’s good stuff.
I’ve been using a lot more stratum lately. I’m really starting to like it! Especially for younger stuff.
Thai cons are easier for me in general. Also, more mature specimens of any variegated monstera always are a safer bet for me. That Hoya vine of just pudunkles is amazing. Can't wait to see that bloom. I have also found recently a full-on ant colony in one of my inside hoyas!! Unfortunately, I cannot say that none were harmed.. But they were (mostly) relocated outside. 😅.
My Thai Constellations are finally doing so much better. I have not had the greatest luck with them, but I think it’s finally turning around! I’m ready for the Hoya to bloom! I’ve never seen that many pudunkles on mine before. Thanks for watching!
that Green Congo is spectacular. I am now regretting not buying it as a TC plant for $55 when I saw it.
I actually prefer the Monstera aurea to the other variegated varieties, which is somewhat odd because I typically prefer white variegation to yellow but it seems to work on Monstera (standleyana aurea is also preferable to me to the albo form).
Yes the green Congo has grown on me so much! The prices on them are coming down as well.
I do think certain plants look better with yellow variegation. Just depends on the plant!
Carmel marble rocks...love to see her in her glory!
? Doesn't it stress plants going from soil roots to water roots? Or vise versa
Oh yes, it is definitely stressing the plant. But hopefully this is a one time ordeal. I think it is better for the plant, as I believe I will be able to generally give them better care in Leca than in soil. I’ve just had to many pest problems/drying out issues with soil.
As always, I enjoyed your video & thank you for being kind to the ants (I'd do the same). 🙂 Your Monstera Albo is beautiful.
I love my ants! Such fascinating colony structures. Thanks, that is definitely my favorite albo, I hope when can size it up quickly!
New subscriber here. You're brave to transplant when a new leaf is emerging. I like your "It has to be done sooner or later" mantra. Would you mind telling us where you got the pot for the Mint Monstera? I've been looking for semi-hydro wicking w/clear insert ... thanx.
Thanks for subscribing! Yes, I just truly think I can give them better care in Lecca due to time constraints with a strict watering schedule so it is for the best!
DELF 6 Pack 6.7” self watering planters from Amazon. I am happy with them so far! Thanks for watching! 😊
I'd love to know where you scored the self watering planters- I'm in the UK but I really like the mint green and I have some large poled climbing specimens that would look so cool bumped up into some of them.
UOUZ 10/9/8 inch indoor planters. I got these off of Amazon. A great price for the size of these planters! Thank for watching!
Do you have any updates on your Monstera Ocean Spray? Very curious to see how it grows!🙂
Yes!! The newest leaf has completely unfurled and it is BEAUTIFUL! Hopefully I can get around to recording a video this weekend and will include it in there. Been super busy lately. Thank you for watching!
I included the new leaf in my latest video, hope you enjoy!
Where do you get your pots from?
Pretty much all of them are from Amazon!
