Are there some silicons that release a mild acid when they cure? Not saying your doing that. Certainly the chemists have created some amazing stuff

Never ever use silicon because it provides rust cause the acid.

for sure I never use products with silicone on body work. If I use painters caulk it is the 25 year which has no silicone. Over painted area. OSI quad is non silicone as far as I know too. Just takes forever to dry. Oil based caulk.

How about a Auto Glass Sealant Windshield Urethane Glue , that stuff is really tuff and last a lifetime. Do you think that that would work for a sealant?
