BOUGAINVILLEA BLOOMING TIPS

Bougainvillea demands plenty of sun. That lightly shaded spot may need color, but without direct sunlight -- at least five hours each day -- your bougainvillea will not bloom. The more sun the vine receives, the more blooms you'll enjoy. Without direct sun or with too much shade, you'll just see green. To promote maximum color, give bougainvillea the sunniest spot in the garden, protected from wind, cold and frost pockets. If your vine is exposed to night lighting, that could also limit blooms. Some bougainvilleas needs long nights and short days to induce flowering. The vine goes through regular cycles of bloom and rest, which depend on being in sync with nature's schedule.
Bougainvilleas bloom best under arid conditions. Too much water translates to few or no blooms. If limited blooms beset you, check your watering -- especially if the plant receives automatic irrigation. Bougainvillea flowers heaviest when the plant is water-stressed. Bougainvillea growers often withhold water for extended periods to force the plant into bloom. To stimulate blooming this way, withhold all water until the leaves begin to wilt. Then water thoroughly. For regular maintenance, water only when the soil is dry but before leaves show signs of stress. Mature, established vines rarely require watering. They flourish with calculated neglect.

Gd pm sir ask lang po Sana kung pwedi ung sawdust ng mga mahugany at gemilina na kahoy sa bougainvillea

Pwede din naman po basta make sure lang na matagal na yung sawdust of nearly decompost na.. at wag na wag kang maghahalo ng bago na sawdust kasi rich in ammonia pa yan..

just wondering why there are few leaves? did you trim it too? i did a full pruning late last yr(cut all long branches... only the trunk is left) then long branches occur with many leaves but few flowers

It depends on the variety of your bougy.. some of bougies are having a large amount of leaves than flower.. or maybe your soil is a alkaline soil...
