Boss got the right guitarist to demo the RV 200. i enjoyed his playing and the reverb.
I would have been so hyped for this in 2021.
I've been looking forward to this since the first 200 series pedals came out!
me too - got a great deal on a brand new rv-500 about 6 years ago, but sold it on at no loss, cos I just didn't have the time or inclination to learn how to use it...
Happy with my SurfyBear classic now, but this really tempts me, as do the UAFX standalone plate and hall units - although I really shouldn't cos I had the Golden for a while and it sounded a little too processed. The spring was sweet on it tho'

The only real question I have is why the RV-200 wasn't the first 200 series pedal on the market.
Unfortunately for Boss they waited so long I got the UA Golden Reverberator instead
Have you used the EQ 200?..That’s the best pedal Boss has ever created.
@@KitchenDog03yes, it is a great pedal. I have all of the 200 series except the looper (and this), all great pedals. At this point I’m just using Boss and Universal Audio

Reverb is a tricky effect to program along with pitch shifters, let alone effects that use both of them.
It’s ok if they take their time to make things right AND stand up to the competition (Eventide, Strymon, Meris...).

Still looking forward to the day Boss can figure out a great shimmer algorithm. Also at this point we should also be able to select the pitch interval up to +/- an octave.
Thats what the SlowVerb algo is for

GFI Specular Tempus has the best sounding shimmer reverb.
Try the Shimmer with tone all the way down.

Man who doesn't love Boss pedals!!! My only problem is what makes the RV-5 modulate reverb so legendary?!?!? I mean I bought the RV-6 when it came out too but for the life of me I can't figure out what it is!!! I WILL say however combining the two holy cow!!!! Definitely gave the effect of a Strymon BigSky!!!

Am awaiting an MDR-200 or 500 that can take care of all possible modulations filters delays and reverbs
Such that one can use drive pedals of our own choice - going into an amp of our choice (or IR-200) and the MDR in the send return loop :)
Basically like a GTCORE-1000 without drives and amp and IR
And only synths, filters, modulations, delays and reverbs :) will be a cool Boss product

No Drives No Amp Models and No IRs
That allows you to use Boss for its best trademark synths modulations delays and reverbs while we can use drive pedals of our choice (like the Timmy) and go into an amp of our choice or an amp sim pedal of our choice (like the Simplifier or IR200)
Congratulations, you have just described the GT-1000Core. :facepalm: If you don't want to use the drive and amp sim functions, just don't use them.

I love this overall but even on the demo the Shimmer is not as pleasant and lush as like a Big Sky for example, sounds kinda brittle and overly extended on high-end reflections. Love the rest of the tones and Boss' form factor but I wish they'd hone in a better shimmer and pitch algorythms overall but sure is not a deal breaker for the majority of ppl.
They did on the RV-500. But you have to run it in dual mode (functions as two reverb pedals in one), and then choose the shimmer standalone FX and chain it into a reverb algorithm of your choosing, better than using the dedicated shimmer reverb.

I still use a Holiest Grail by EHX which they SHOULD reissue, it is magnificent with its input levels and sliders

It's still nice but that Input Gain that's also missing is the killer function.

That baritone suits the reverb vibe of the songs. Goona buy myself a set of 14 gauge of strings. Thats what i can afford😂😂😂😂
The spring and shimmer still sounds bad/not good enough.
Arpverb and can switch presets is awesome.
Still no strymon big sky cloud type reverb.
I think is okay for the price $269.99 for what it offer.
That shimmer sounds horrible. The shimmer on my EHX Canyon sounds amazing compared to this one. The modulated Hall sounds really good though.
@@mr.d.572 Personally, I'd use an EarthQuaker Devices Astral Destiny and Ghost Echo, for shim-verb and spring-verb respectively, and this new RV-200 for pretty much everything else.
Great demo, wasn't too keen on the shimmer algorithm but the arpverb is great! Here's a thought, I mainly use software effects instead of pedals. Would Boss ever release plugin versions of stuff like this? It's all just code these anyway. I'd buy the arpverb as a VST effect immediately!
Are L and R inputs going to independent Reverb machines? I would hate it suming L+R to create a mono signal before generating stereo Reverb. That Will kill my stereo sound from other stereo pedals I have.

This video alone might be enough to sell me on this pedal. Killer tones & playing. I wonder what overdrives he was using.
Anyone try this against an RV-6 (is it just the same algorithms?) or a Blue Sky? Not sure if the pedal is amazing or just the playing that has me mesmerized.

Okay, so they added a couple tricks to the bag. But after all the time BOSS spent releasing this, they didn't even fix the awful Spring and Shimmer verbs.
How about the Phase Shifter? Is there any plans of update?
It's too late and the price is too high compared to other 200 series in Japan！
Reverb pedals are typically more expensive. A lot of effort goes into the algorithms to make them sound natural.

This is 35,200 yen, which would have been 25,000 yen if released two years ago. I know that the overseas release price is $270.
@@jaymax3201 I think it's in the same price-range as a Strymon Cloudburst. The RV-200 has more features than the Cloudburst.
Why do all young players shake the neck? It does nothing or very little for tone but damn sure looks goofy and irritates viewers.

I'm glad the so-called "glory days" of guitar are long gone. That leaves room for the younger players who truly care about the instrument and aren't chasing rock-and-roll stardom. Just because you're stuck in the past, doesn't mean that other players can't do interesting and creative things. GUITAR IS FOR EVERYONE.
Also, it's 2023 and you're complaining about Napster?
This product is a disappointment. Even the demo, dozens of guitars, what's the point? Great platform, but the effects are nothing special. I have a Boss Gt-1000 Core and this pedal has nothing that attracts me . What is the point then of declaring "Ambient Bliss." Also, there will be no more upgrades of any kind to look forward to. I like Boss's products, but this seems really out of place in 2023, considering what's on the market.
