Bismillah wa alhamdulillah, Asalam alaykum and welcome to the beginner’s guide to Islam series.
By the end of this video you will know and understand:
- The details of the 5 obligatory prayers and their names
- How to know the correct timings for each prayer
- How to find the direction of prayer (Qibla)
- How to perform the prayer according to the sunnah
- The conditions, pillars & sunnah actions of the prayer
- Things to avoid

I want to strongly state that I am not claiming to be a scholar, nor am I claiming that this video series is the be all and end all of information. I am simply trying to provide a video series that I would have found extremely useful when I reverted to Islam. I am also very concerned for new Muslims that take their shahada via their own research online (like myself) and do not have good brothers/sisters to help them with the life changes that will be required. As without guidance (as to what to do next), Islam can be very complicated and confusing, not to mention these Muslims can very easily be led (unknowingly) into innovation and/or extremism.
If there is anyone associated with the content creator of the videos I have used to demonstrate the prayer and the importance of Surah Al-Fatiha, that have an issue with what I have done here.

Islam is all about goodness, beauty, love, humility, brotherhood, affection and mercy, tolerance, kindness to parents, healthy kinship, altruism: wishing others the best of what one wishes oneself, smiling to others: a smile is an act of benevolence and one is rewarded for it, feeding wife with man’s own hands: for this bears reward from Allah, doing right by one’s neighbours: as if the neighbour is one’s own family, honouring one’s guests, helping the needy, being hospitable to the passerby, and performing one’s work with utmost diligence and to the best of one’s abilities: Allah gets pleased with one who performs his work with all due-diligence.
We learned in our religion that Allah is beautiful and loves beauty.
Read about Islam from its sources. Read the Quran yourself and see by your own eyes, not through the media's eyes.
Don't listen to stereotypes. Take a closer look and you will see a world of beauty, purity, and greatness

Hello, I was baptized Catholic and for the past 23 years of my life I have lived a Christian life. Migrating from France to Miami then to England; I've met, seen and was influenced by so many other countries and culture. I started to have doubt about my way of life after learning about Prophet Muhammad PBUH and his revelations from Allah. Here I am today at 24 years old planning on converting. Just learning more.

Bro. U r doing a great job. Islam is not about scholars or ulamma. But it is about the person and how to develop himself in faith and islam. I know many Muslims dont do the 5 prayers but it is one of the pillars of Islam. So I have to make sure I can do this if im going to convert, I have to keep learning but it seems very tough.
Yes it sounds tough at first, although after you start practicing Islam and increasing in knowledge, becoming more comfortable and confident. It becomes easy, rather you feel it’s part of your purpose as a human being and you wouldn’t want to live life any other way. It’s your direct connection to God. The point you have raised at 57:24 is very good. It is the Sunnah (some scholars deem it obligatory) that the feet are joint in congregational prayers. But sometimes one could be inconsiderate to the people standing next to them. I don't mind having my feet slightly touch the feet of the brothers standing next to me insofar as this doesn't make them (or me) feel uncomfortable. But I remember one time the brother who was standing on my right in the prayer had his foot in full alignment with mine which made me extremely uncomfortable and affected my concentration and khushooع. Whenever I pulled away but only enough to maintain closing the gaps, he would join again in the same way until he had his feet very far apart and his standing position was very unnatural. He then told me off at the end of the prayer 😁😁mentioning I was supposed to have my foot fully adjacent and sticking to his. Allahu Aعlam but the Sheikh alluded to the fact that sometimes a person gets carried away and focuses on the technicalities up to the extent that they forget to focus in the prayer itself.
59:00 This is extremely important and I was surprised to see that way too many people are actually unaware of this and don't act upon the obligation of moving the lips and the tongue when reciting Al-Fatiحa or making Dhikr throughout the prayer. The Sheikh explains the rationale behind it beautifully, may Allah ﷻ reward him.

Al-Bukhaari (6298) and Muslim (2370) narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Ibraaheem (peace be upon him) circumcised himself when he was eighty years old..
In the case of men, it serves an interest which has to do with one of the conditions of prayer, namely purity (tahaarah), because if the foreskin remains, when the urine comes out of the urethra, some of it will collect there, and this causes burning and infection every time the person moves, and every time the foreskin is squeezed, some drops of urine come out, thus causing najaasah (impurity).
Your intention of good will is the most important factor
