Classic Toy Soldiers is the place to go now. They have the molds now for the Marx Soldiers. I still have a Marx Battleground , Desert Fox and Navarone Playset. When I was young I had many hours and sometimes complete days playing with these playsets.
Growing up in the 2000s, I always wanted to play with WWII toy soldiers and vehicles but they weren’t common sights in most stores. Everything was the 1960s American Marines and Patton tanks in green and tan. I always played with them as if they were Americans and Germans. Finally, as a 20-year-old college student, am I just now getting my hands on lots of these old Marx soldiers, both the originals and the reproductions. These are the best WWII troops money can buy!
Wow ...brings back memories...git mine in 1976 from my dad ...I still have that pock marked pillbox that looks like 2 eye slits and a nose . Great stuff made in the 70's ...thanks for showing this
This is awesome. With my marx figures me and my brother would mix different era soldiers and have battles. They were very odd looking battle displays. Tanks, half tracks, civil war era cannons, WW11 cannons ect ect. The soldiers would be revolutionary, WWI, WWII, alamo, civil war, spacemen, also 6" giant soldiers. We had a crazy fun imaginative time. Awesome memories! When my brother was getting to old to play me and my cousin one time had a display we had taken an hour to set up. Right when we set it up he barged into the room and hollered ATOMIC BOMB! and threw a huge pillow and whiped out most of our set up. We got pissed at the time but i think of it now and laugh. LOL!
One company made a WWII play set where some the men were on platforms and in pillboxes that had those pull string apparatus like on the back of the talking dolls and action figures. When you pulled the string, the men would move and shooting and explosion sounds would erupt. Anyone else remember those?
I got a Marx Army playset in 1960. When Remco came out with their bazooka, I would shoot it at the soldiers. There was also a bunker that was spring loaded, so when you hit it with the bazooka missile, it would explode. I sure miss that.
I have a great WW 2 Army Men set I have Airfix British paratroopers, commandos, 8th Army, infantry as well. It also have German paratroopers as well as American paratroopers and Russians with Marx Americans and Japanese, and I also have Chinese clones of BMC American marines and Matchbox Americans, British, Germans, and Japanese as well

My brother and I had to share a Battleground and Fort Apache sets we received in 1969 and 1970. Great times.
I remember setting everything up was the best part about plating.
Best times of my childhood, loved it.
