  • A generative space ambient track that I came up with while exploring the possibilities of STEPIC, a sequencer plugin for Ableton Live by Devicemeister.
The track uses 9 instances of STEPIC, hence the title "nine lives" ;-). Only the drum part was programmed in Ableton, no other midi data or live playing involved this time.
    Synths used:
    - Korg Minilogue XD
    - Sequential Prophet 6
    - Novation Summit
    - Moog Grandmother
    - Moog Matriarch
    Eurorack System:
    - Electrosmith 3340 analog VCO into Rossum Evolution Filter
    - Strymon Magneto (processing audio from Moog Grandmother, clocked via cv from Ableton)
    - boredbrain OPTX to receive CV from Ableton/STEPIC and send audio via ADAT to Audiointerface (Prismsound Titan)
    - Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas Alter
    - WMD Fracture
    - Cosmotronic Delta-V
    - NC Triple Sloth for subtle filter modulation (x-Channel only)
    - DivKid Ochd for heavy modulation of Fracture (Spread, Freq, Density, Reverb)
    - Doepfer A-180-9 to connect both Moogs to the Eurorack via RJ45
    Other:
    - Kawai MP11 SE Stage Piano
    Drums:
    - Ableton Live Stock Samples
Audio programming and recording in Ableton Live 11.
Video recorded with Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k.
All put together in DaVinci Resolve Studio 17.

I can only highly recommend to give STEPIC a try. It is an awesome piece of software that is easy to use and gets you results in no time - without the need to deepdive into manuals.
    Thanks for stopping by,

This takes the lead for being the most impressive synth orchestration video that I've ever seen.

    Great Track. 💜
Stepic is a very handy tool. Using it since some weeks, after I saw Martín Stürtzer using it.

Stepic is pretty amazing! Would love to see a 'making of' to see how you're using those instances of Stepic. Just fantastic!

@@collinember Even screenshots of the Stepic setups would give insight into how the track is working.

I second that request. What an amazing track Collin. Great use of Stepic. Is the track a fully random track? i.e. if you run it again would it sound different… how much is random and how much controlled?

    • @collinember
      @collinember  Před rokem +1

@@Iain2000 It is not a fully random track, but it was heavily randomized with Stepics note and automation randomization. It's been a while, and the setup actually doesn't exist anymore, so I cannot offer a walkthrough for this one, but new tracks with new Synths (Hydra Deluxe and Sequential Pro 3) are on their way, and I will soon publish a new random track with Stepic and I can certainly do a walkthrough for the new ones.
