Hello everyone, in todays video will be discussing the very odd case of Paul Fugate. Mr. Fugate was working as a Park Ranger at the Chiricahua National Monument in 1980 when at roughly 2pm on Sunday January 13, 1980, he told he associate that he was leaving the visitor center to " check the nature trail. That was the last time anyone ever saw him. Paul was a very smart mad who had a degree in biology and loved working in the outdoors. There have been many theories in this case and the NPS just reopened the case in 2018. Mr. Fugate was 41 years old at the time, was roughly 170lbs, long brown/graying hair, wore rimless glasses, had a pronounced widow's peak and was wearing a gray Nation Park Service Uniform shirt with patches, and a badge, a bright green NPS uniform jacket with a red lining, jockey shorts, white socks and green work boots. He also had a full beard and mustache.
The NPS has a tip line setup and if you have any information regarding this case please contact: 1-888-653-0009 or visit www.nps.gov/isb
In this video I discuss who Paul was, his various experiences throughout the National Park Service and various theories and news articles related to this case.
    Thank you for watching 🙏🙏
Please remember when commenting that this is someone's family member who they desperately want back.

I was let go by the NPS parallels organization the Bureau of Land Management for personnel reasons. Nobody was ever truthful as to why I was let go. So I can sympathize with what Paul was going through. Both of the departments are full of petty little people who are trying to cover up their incompetence and inflated egos.

I've been fired from two jobs with nothing but a shady excuse and been given the run-around when I demanded a proper explanation. In BOTH cases, the people responsible were subsequently terminated for obvious reasons, but good luck explaining your next prospective employer.
This sort of thing is pretty common in the US, not just in government agencies but private businesses as well. Something about certain jobs just tends to attract sociopaths.

@@marnieclifford8604 After a year and half of a pissing contest with management over an issue of safety thatI brought up, I gave up because of their spin of making me a trouble/wave maker, instead of holding others responsible. Truly there a lot of social pathetic liars within our federal agencies. Fact, I worked in 4 of them. I kept transfering hoping the grass was greener on the other side. To answer your question. I went to the veterans administration for help for my now anger issues. They suggested that I resign (which I did)) and apply for PTSD on top of my war injury. I got lucky/blessed with that agency.

Question: how many people would see a friend slumped unconscious between two strange men, driving away in a truck, and not follow them and try to get a plate number at least? I certainly wouldn't just keep driving the other way. I'd at least try to get a good look at the truck and the men, and where they went.

Jane: I could not agree more with you. To me, Bryan is a truly exceptional young man. As a speech pathologist who has taught at several medical schools and diagnosed and treated children and adults with voice, speech, language and cognitive disorders for over 30 years, I don't think that most people are aware of the huge amount of information that a person's voice conveys about his or her personality. The eyes are not the only windows to the soul. It is obvious that Bryan is sensitive, compassionate, respectful and thoughtful of both the people who are the subjects of his videos, their family members and his viewers. At the same time, he is incredibly humble. I think Bryan would make not only a great hiking and camping companion, but a terrific friend as well. I wish there were more people like him. Think of the difference that could make in the social personality of our divided, hurting nation.

I think he stumbled upon some type of smuggling like drugs or people. If they had people in the forest service denying his disappearance they may have been involved so they didn't want a big search. No one is going to fight that long for job to be returned to them and then walk away. This was foul play and I think the guy who saw him slumped over in a truck did see him.

Bryan, if I’m not mistaken there have been several Park Rangers, Forest Rangers, Search & Rescue members & other people such as firefighters & LEO officials that have come up missing & never found per David Paulides, author of the Missing 411 book series. I’m a former Sheriffs Dept. SAR member myself.

@@angelmartin7310 I read there are 50,000 adults reported missing each yr (US) and 800,000 children reported missing each year (one child every 40 seconds). In 98% of missing children cases, they are returned home safely.
But in cases of missing adults I'm sure unless they're are reported in danger of hurting someone else or themselves, they are probably not a high priority for LE w/all the other crimes they have to deal w/and of course, missing children are their priority when it comes to those who go missing.
And when people go missing in the wilderness, it's all the more taxing on police resources so that's why these volunteer searchers play such an integral part in trying to locate those who go missing in many instances.

One thing to remember is that the 70’s were a very strange decade. Open marriages were a social phenomenon of the time. It sounds to me that he was trying to live his life his way, and having to deal with a boss who was very “square” and had a problem with “hippies.” Actually, there was a lot of that going on at that time, just driving through a state with long hair could get you into trouble with the law, not to mention the “squares.” It’s so odd that twice the park service dismissed evidence. Sounds like a personal vendetta was at play here. Eerie story.

Well I mean besides the amazing music that came about due to the hippy movement everything else was pretty much negative and absolutely destroyed social cohesion by indoctrinating people into communism and an overall anti-American mindset despite the inconvient truth that the only reason the hippy movement happened in the first place was because the country as a whole became so prosperous and stable that many Americans became outright detached from reality and as such completely abandoned the culture and traditions of their parents and grandparents. Furthermore open relationships and even worse open marriages are straight up wrong by every standard of morality or even common sense for that matter considering such relationships are destined to implode considering that humans are indeed monogamous by nature even though we like to try and dilute ourselves into thinking otherwise despite the fact that many people who live extremely promiscuous lifestyles end up alone. Lastly all of the cultural decay taking place in America currently can be traced back to the hippy movement which as I stated previously indoctrinated the youth into accepting communism which in turn gave rise to many of the radical ideologies currently such as feminist intersectionality, critical race theory, radical gender theory, and the list goes on and on..

Given the distance he could reasonably be assumed to have covered on foot, a search which was properly conducted should have been able to have found some trace of him if there was any to be found!
Given his complete devotion to the role he had, and his life as was, I do not believe that he disappeared by choice!
The complete absence of any sign of him where he should have been expected to have been found, and that no trace has ever been found since he vasished, I doubt this will ever be solved, unless someone makes a deathbed confession.

Whomever out there murdered this man, your time is coming, make no mistake. You do not get to pass go for free; you go straight to jail or wherever. Your sins will find you out. This is our hope in life to us survivors of man’s wickedness.

It’d be pretty hard haha. First, the guy was hunting so it’d be tough to get close enough to kill him wo being made. And even if you shot him w a rifle from let’s say 300 yds (still a great shot) and you somehow manage to dispose of the body yada yada. No way in hell you’re making it look as if someone wasn’t dragged off and in general 2 different human beings didn’t converge one one another and SOMETHING happened. Sure, you could probably get away with killing someone out there and not get convicted, maybe even not end up a suspect, but very very few people would manage to make it appear as if there wasn’t a murder…let alone make it seem like someone vanished. Think about it. There were tons of search and rescue hahaha. It wouldn’t take the worlds best trackers to fig that out. Even if you carried them so there were no drag marks. Your footprints would all the sudden be deeper right after stopping at a bald spot you had to clear from all the blood in the vegetation you hauled off somewhere (which will be obvious) and a totally different stride. Short answer: very F’ing hard haha

I can understand why Paul would fight for his wonderful, stable government job with great benefits. Let’s harken back to the sixties, well documented by the one and only Austin Powers… I was still a kid, but yeah, it was the “swinging sixties”… hairstyles (longer hair on men) and facial hair was popular in young guys but severely frowned upon by older men (I remember the “conversations” between my older brother and our dad!) So I can see that there could have been friction between the Paul and his boss. It sure sounds like the people at that park (at that time) were not good to his widow. And drugs were as popular then as now, just different drugs. How very sad and suspicious. It sounds ludicrous that he would fight for 5 years to get his job back, just the “abandon his post”.

Seems to be two prevalent theories on the comment thread.
      1. The park service had him "wacked".
      2. He came upon an illegal operation and was killed.
As crazy as the first theory is, what if it is combined with the second?
Park officials getting kickback money from drug operations to do what they do unimpeded. "PROBLEMATIC" Ranger tries to do the job he was hired for, and is a casualty, yet who has motive to find out what happened?
Just wondering aloud. I was a year old when he went missing.

Regardless of his lifestyle choices, he was definately dedicated to his job if he fought to hard in court to get his position reinstated! To claim he abandoned his post is ridiculous! my personal guess is that he was abducted against his will if he stumbled upon druggies/criminals as he was checking the trails.

As somebody that has had boots on the ground and also done a ton of reasurching of cases all around the country, this is a really wired case. It's such a small park that if he was still in there I believe he would have already been found. I have not watched the video yet as I really want to see if we are thinking along the same lines on this one as I believe so many things you have said or speculated on are right. 1.He was said to have been seen with another guy in a truck whether voluntarily or not I'm not sure but it witnessed had put him in a truck leaving the area with somebody else. I believe this is quite possible.2. The superintendent of the park in the park itself hit the widow for I believe it was his entire pension without remembering the exact story but the whole thing with the court cases of the widow was ridiculous. 2. Again from my memory he walked off without his radio which could make sense if the only other person with the radio was the person in the office that he told to close up if he wasn't back. 3. Speculation was that he encountered some kind of illegal activity whether that have been a drug deal, or trafficking or something similar I believe this is probably the best theory out there I don't believe he is in the park anymore. I have not had a chance to watch a whole lot of your videos but the ones I have watched are cases that I have gone through with a fine tooth comb on and I believe that most of your stuff is spot on with your speculation as I do believe that everything I've seen is pretty close to what I believe happened to those specific cases. Now all we need to do is get boots on the ground and really take the time to do actual heavy duty searches instead of hasty searches. I said it before and I'll say it again I think that you're so right that I would bet that on a lot of these cases these people are exactly where you said they are. Keep up the awesome job!

The Chiricahua Mountain range is more or less in my back yard and I've spent a lot of time there. Locals sometimes refer to the mountains as the "Cherry-Cows". I did not know Paul Fugate but I had friends who knew him, and his wife. One friend was a Park Service employee who told me he had coffee with Paul just before Paul went off on his hike and never returned. My friend also helped search and later told me he believed Paul was no longer in the Park. It is a strange case.
