Awesome video. There are none this in depth out there that I could find and I can see it being truly invaluable to someone like myself who wishes to revive my own unit, so much thanks. I agree that the endless tape is ingenious and I look at it and it mystifies me. To that end, I was hoping there was gonna be a respool here. I have the original cassette case but the tape is gone, probably ripped out by a frustrated me many years ago. I have been everywhere trying to find someone to respool it, and nada. Any suggestions on that would be appreciated. Again, excellent video. Cheers. Dave
My echo chamber has similar symptoms. Are the filter caps, the bc550 transistor, and the 1.5k resistor the only things you replaced to get it functioning?
If only people weren’t so dumb that they discard they whole cassette when the tape breaks 😫🙄 I have a Melos Echo Chamber… But no damn cartridge. Because the previous owner threw it out. And they’re difficult to find, online. Even that dictaphone version (can’t remember its name now… Gave up last year, trying to find one for sale). Will try finding one again 😊
I think that this cassette is just a piece of shit engineering. It unwinds from a small diameter in the middle and rewinds on a larger diameter on the outer periphery. This results in the tape getting tighter and tighter as time goes by. The long loop tape design of the Roland 501 is by far a better design to my opinion.

@@crownjewelmusicgearreview9430 I will indeed. I won't be giving up anytime soon and I hope you do likewise if you find out anything. Cheers.
Huge help thank you. I bought a Playtape, it's way too wide though
Thank you! I needed this bad.
Glad it helped!
Thank You I own 2 of the echo chambers and have just replaced the pads as per your video. Its put new life in them Thank You
Super!
oh man! thank u!!!!!!! awesome
I love your videos! Do you happen to have pictures of the board's layout? I'm trying to do these mods to my tape echo. Thanks!
Hey, all left is only the video...

As far as I remember, yes, maybe coupling caps in signal path...
Where can I get a cassette cartridge complete unit I have nothing
you are a genius! great job. Anyone knows were can I buy an Apollon Cartridge for this unit?
Ebay. but Playtape like he used are far easier to find on there
I have the cartridge but the tape is cut. What tape can I use to replace the old tape? Thanks
If it's cut you just splice it. Scotch tape works fine
Do you have schematic for this? Which resistor and transistor did you swap out? Mine has very little clean headroom
Hey, you can find schematics on the net, if not, I'll try to find mine...
Hi are you using 8 track cassette or Dictaphone cartridge, thanks and great job
Definitely not 8 track, not sure what exact type, came with repair...
@@rastop1 thanks for the answer, I'm still searching a cartridge, greetings from Mexico
@@myharp.myheart I hope to go to Mexico one of these days...
@@myharp.myheart ¿Ya encontraste el cartucho? yo también estoy buscando uno...
*Would probably sound better if your input and output were both wired to low or high instead of ' In LOW and Out High.'
Maybe, depends on the gear... thanks
