Thank you! Another example to show kids that free-flowing mufflers sound much better than no mufflers! I'm fine with removing cats. In fact I removed the cats on 2 of my cars. BUT, I put Borla mufflers on 1 and 2-chamber Flowmasters on the other. Even 4.6s and 5.0s sound like dump trucks without any mufflers. Plus, without ANY backpressure you actually lose a little horsepower.

There is only one occasional exception to that. That occasional exception is if the vehicle has forced induction via a supercharger or turbocharger. Otherwise, it loses power.

The longer tube/pipe, which exits exhaust gasses at the rear of the vehicle instead of under the middle it, creates more back pressure than the bend/bends. Many vehicles actually have that exhaust setup from the factory. But it's designed that way solely to protect the exhaust from potential road debris, not for back pressure.
If you watch engine masters on motortrend they dyno test an engine with different mufflers and with no mufflers and no mufflers made the most horsepower and torque...

Agreed. I had an '03 Ram with a 4.7L Magnum with the muffler cut off and the pipe cut at an angle to try and make it sound as good as possible. Ended up obviously being loud as fuck considering that the truck's muffler is almost half as long as the truck. I was going to straight pipe it and put some glass packs on it, but ended up having to sell the truck before I could.

Eli Evans no problem, I got a buddy who had straights on his 13 f150 an it wouldn't idle unless you put it in gear, or if you felt like waiting forever it would eventually come come down

Did you do anything after taking your cats off? Like a programmer ? Cause you're not supposed to cut the cats on the new models unless you get a o2 sensor simulator or a programmer. I have a 2011 cat-back straights and i can't cut them off without a programmer.
Ripcord03 from what the local mechanic told me is that the chevys from 08 and up have to have a cat to function. He said because the new cats they use are tied into the air fuel mixture and without the cat the truck will not start. Because it will throw a certain code

Just your check engine light will come on with no cats. Cause that’s where your o2 sensors are.
It’ll come on because of emissions cause your cats aren’t they to keep the emissions at a “acceptable” level
