    Did you do the tank black out at the same time? - so in total how long was the tank blacked out?

    Have you had any problem with other algae? I am having a GHA problem. Tank is about 3 mos old and is the fluval 13.5. Have my nitrates at 3-5 and phosphate from 0-.03 mostly which might be deceiving is what a lot of people I hear say. I have a cuc of snails and hermits, but doesn't make much of a dent. I have cleaned it 2 times manually and attached a power filter every time to clean it up and used a UV sterilizer for a few days. Would like to get a good hair algae eater but the tank is so small, there is not many options.

      New tanks do get Algae problem in the start. Maintain a regular water change, feed fishes bit less and reduce your photo period and your tank will be just fine in few weeks time.

      No, I coupled the treatment with UV sterliser installation afterwards and Dino never returned.

    So you use when the Lights are out but you dont leave the lights out always right ? You maintain the normal cycle of light, but the dosage is at night, right ?

    • @kamranasif2004
      @kamranasif2004  Před 3 lety

      No, only 1 hour lighting period during the treatment.

    • @kamranasif2004
      @kamranasif2004  Před 4 lety

      YES. I did. Only had them on for 1 hour per day during the medication period. So the corals get something for photosynthesis.

    Why would you use that system on a tank with no sps? You say you need to do something with the dinos before they get out of control... do you not think that's already happened?

    • @kamranasif2004
      @kamranasif2004  Před 3 lety +2

      I was making the system ready to take sps, dinos get out of control very quickly if measures are not taken.

      Works fine but try the UV sterlizer first, that may solve it for you without putting any chemicals into the water, make sure to use a large size branded type of UV instead of cheap chinese ones. All the best.

  • @marcelrodriguez2067

    You lucky that all you had was ostreopsis which can be easily defeated with UV since they go into the water column at night. I on the other hand had 2 species one of then being amphidinium which do not go into the water column. Only way to defeat them is to either remove all the sand or simply increase the nutrients and not do water changes.
