- At least 55 have been killed due to a massive earthquake in Japan. Rescue workers are battling against time to pull out survivors trapped under rubble. Over 200 aftershocks have been recorded since the quake. Japan is on alert for more earthquakes.

I am a native of the USA and have live in Tokyo, now more than 12 consecutive years (18 years in total) and even with the threat of these types of earthquakes.. I have no thoughts or plans of leaving.
The remarks in the news report,about the people remaining calm,
It’s not because of any authoritarian pressure, but the Japanese spirit of harmony and respect and consideration of not only fellow humans, but all life in general.
When you see in the interviews of, especially the elders,
Notice a smile on their face when they talk about how they lost everything…
Don’t think it’s because they’re happy…
Even in that moment, they are caring about your feelings…
That they don’t evoke pity, or make your heart burdened..
There are those who will say.. but what about this… and what about that…

An earthquake of the same magnitude killed 50,000 people in Turkey.
This level of damage is always experienced by the Japanese.
