Hello Join, the conversion of the Schay is fantastic and the freight train rides with the Shays are great. Thanks for showing and all the best for you and the garden railway. Best wishes Wolfgang

I've been wanting to remove my smoke unit and replace it with an ultrasonic mister, but I've been intimidated. If you ever do a video showing how you got in there to remove that, that would be really helpful.

Hi Suko, Getting in is easy. The boiler face is removeable, you just need to pry it off. and the wires and switches come off with it. The smoke unit is held in place with two screws. If I get a chance and remember, I will try do do a short video on it for you. All Bachmann steam engines should be the same.

Question: Is that circuit board the stock board in the locomotive? If so, what does it do? I own two Bachmann Shays and neither has sound or anything fancy that would require a dedicated board like that, so I'm curious what the purpose of the board is.

Nevermind, looks like that is stock. This manual is really nice because it provides a wiring layout for anyone who wants to know what goes to where...

All Bachmann Shays will have some type of board, it directs how the power works with track pickup, power to trucks, lights and smoke. I remove the board and connect all the wiring to a RC board.
