This will be a very nice gift, these fantastic trains are great. Have a good time and best regards Wolfgang
Thanks Wolfgang, it is a hard decision!
Always a great finish to your video watching the trains go by.
I bet you are glad you pulled the engine out of the box to fix the broken part and to lube it.
This is going to be a great gift especially with Christmas around the corner for under the tree.
Just for general information, markers were made so only the red lenses were shown to the rear when the train was on the main. The other lenses would have been green/ green/ green or yellow/yellow/yellow (depending on the railroad). When a train takes a siding, the markers are turned so the red lens is to the inside and shows the green or yellow lens to the rear indicating the train is off the main and in the clear. The other possibility would be to extinguish the markers or remove them. The best practice is to turn them as they are made to be turned while mounted on the car's side.
Hi Roy, Thanks for the info. I know I make a lot of mistakes, it is fun learning about the correct marker lights.
Hello Join, an interesting garden railway control Train Revolution. The advantage over my DCC control is that you don't need a power connection. The sounds are also very good, but since I have equipped all my many locomotives with decoders and ESU sound. It would only be worth it for one locomotive for fun and as a fan. Very nice of you to present this control. Thanks for showing and have a great time. Best wishes from Germany Wolfgang
Thank you Wolfgang! Sometimes I think I talk too much!
Nice running of the trains at the end with the camera on the train for a cool view.
I think you explained the controller very well.
Cool bear statue under your right hand.
Cool opening the train running.
Great little tutorial. Excellent!!!
Thanks, I do love running trains.
Your conversion of the locomotives and wagons to battery operation is very nice, the sound is very nice. You have a beautiful garden railway system. I hope you have a nice Sunday.
Thank you Wolfgang, I hope your Sunday is good as well!!
nice layout! Are you running MTS or Analog?
Hi, not familiar with MTS?
Awesome!!
Awesome!!
Thanks!
That is so awesome video!! Hope to have a small garden railroad when I retire!
Thanks! Where in this old world are you going to retire?
That is cool 😎 👌 thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching!
What brand battery packs are you using?
Hi Wayne, I am using: KBT 12V 1200mAh Rechargeable Li-ion Battery, Bare Leads Wire Replacement Battery Pack with 12V Charger Compatible for 12V Devices RC Car, Boat, Robot, DIY, LED Light Kit
@@gardenrailroading Thanks for the reply. I’m converting USA streamline passenger cars to cob led lighting and battery power.
Nice little tutorial. Running of the trains is cool!
Thanks
Hey guy, I looked up your word for CUPOLO & there is NO SUCH word!! But there is a word called Cupola for a small structure on top of a roof!! Who ever told you that word you told us gets his/her-(teacher) A's and O's mixed up!! Thanks for showing us a running caboose at night, but I thought that Cupola's Don't have lights in them so that the Brake man can see the train at night for a burning wheel bearing or something wrong with a car!!!
Hi Vinny, actually the conductor would have a small light to be able to write his reports.
@gardenrailroading <It must have been at the small folding table at the seat for that light! In my Bobber Caboose I'll keep that area dark and light up the living area!! I'm putting in a raised layout on my land so that people can park between loops of track. I'm calling my Nomad Rest Stop: "LOCO HOBO!!" If you come to Arizona, South of Prescott on Hwy 89, you should stop by!! If you have any friends who would like to help me build it, have them write me!! I want a mining rail line and logging too!!!
@@vinnyheaphy1372 That sounds very cool!
@@gardenrailroading I have an Aladdin lamp and an Adlake lamp that was used in cabooses (cabeese) and other work cars for use over the desk.
@@royreynolds108 , my Father in-law was a Trainman in 1950 on the NYC line running through Michigan, I have his lamp.
Excellent video! Presented well so just about anyone can follow along. I've had plans to do the same to my aba set of FAs for a while now. I may now switch to using individual boards since i have a good number of them now to use.
That sounds like a good thing to do, what type of RC are you using? I did put individual receivers in an AB set of F7s that I have for my Northern Pacific, they work really well!
@@gardenrailroading I have revolution in just about everything.
Great video 😊,like it
Thanks D
Veramente eccezionale la motrice è molto bella come pure i carri pure io sono molto interessato a questo tipo di scala 👍👍
Thank you, I love the G scale trains. Where are you located?
Interesting caboose lighting, a great garden railroad layout and fantastic locomotives and trains. Thanks for sharing. Best regards
Thanks Wolfgang!
You are a very patient electrician putting in the lights. One cool layout with the trains running.
Thank you
Super cool. The Beer Barrel Polka to start the video.
I do love a good Polka, for that matter, I do love a good Beer too!😃
What the hell is the matter with you? You fix up Terry's yellow caboose with lights and then Don put it on the track with your Heisler Loco and box car with NO CABOOSE!! I wanted to see the caboose all lit up on a night time run!! I'm not happy with this channel! 👎👎!!
Sorry Vinny! You are absolutely correct! Unfortunately Terry was leaving quickly and I did not get a chance to do a night time run. However I am doing an Army caboose for my wife and I will do a night time run with that one! Hope you can forgive me?
@gardenrailroading <Yes I will, but, next time tell your friend to be more patient so we can enjoy the fine work you do!! I got a 👍's up for my comment to you, today!!!
@@vinnyheaphy1372 , it's all about having fun Vinny! Thank you for all the comments!
You got them form mee. . hahaha just kidding my name is also Alex 2.I have a friend that does G scale outdoor Garden railroading he's trying to figure out how to convert it to battery
An interesting sound conversion of the locomotives, great sound. Thanks for showing and best regards.👍👍👍👍
Thanks Wolfgang!
I want to use a 20 volt DC Bauer tool battery pack in my steam engine's tender to run its motor in the engine! How do I do that? No power on the track!!
I will have to look up a video I made on setting up a 20 volt Dewalt battery Vinny
Hi Vinny, here is a video I did to help a friend get his engine running again: czcams.com/video/rAWDVv-xkmA/video.html
You will need to find a Battery Clip for your Harbor Freight 20 Volt Battery. I always make a battery car as it is easier to remove and charge your battery. You can email me for more information at: Trainmanhowe@gmail.com
@gardenrailroading I have a Bauer charger that works well on my Solar system to charge up all those batteries! I have NO power from the power company grid, so it all comes from the Sun!! Later I'm going to have some kind of power controller pack or remote control!! I'll take a look at your videos after I get some kind of Spam Blocker app for my phone, the constant notification alerts ARE DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!
Hello Join, the conversion of the Schay is fantastic and the freight train rides with the Shays are great. Thanks for showing and all the best for you and the garden railway. Best wishes Wolfgang
Thanks Wolfgang!
Looks great! This is inspiration to get our outdoor layout up and running.
Thanks
I've been wanting to remove my smoke unit and replace it with an ultrasonic mister, but I've been intimidated. If you ever do a video showing how you got in there to remove that, that would be really helpful.
Hi Suko, Getting in is easy. The boiler face is removeable, you just need to pry it off. and the wires and switches come off with it. The smoke unit is held in place with two screws. If I get a chance and remember, I will try do do a short video on it for you. All Bachmann steam engines should be the same.
Question: Is that circuit board the stock board in the locomotive? If so, what does it do? I own two Bachmann Shays and neither has sound or anything fancy that would require a dedicated board like that, so I'm curious what the purpose of the board is.
Nevermind, looks like that is stock. This manual is really nice because it provides a wiring layout for anyone who wants to know what goes to where... www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/dwg/dwgs/82494.pdf
All Bachmann Shays will have some type of board, it directs how the power works with track pickup, power to trucks, lights and smoke. I remove the board and connect all the wiring to a RC board.
Nice work. Great video as always with the run of the trains as a finish. HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!!!
Thank you!
You really know your stuff. Cool video!
Thank you
Love the bridge.
me too
Neat video.
Thanks, I do love a good Steam Engine!
The conversion of the Shay is interesting, a train full of sausages is driving there. Great video, thanks for showing and best regards Wolfgang
Hi Wolfgang. I do love the wienermobile
Hello Join, another fantastic video from the club event. Very nice pictures of the garden railway and the many trains. Thank you for the great video and best wishes from Germany.
Thank you Wolfgang! I hope you are having better weather than we are now? We are in a flood alert in the low lands because of all the rain.
@@gardenrailroadingUnfortunately, the weather has only gotten better since today, the whole of last week was just rain. But we don't have any flooding here, but we do in the Beyern region. Here's a short video of my garden railway. czcams.com/video/0mPjgH78WM4/video.html
What is the function of the portable air compressor? Are the switches possibly air controlled? Very interesting Outdoor Layout. Thanks for posting.
Hi Joe, yes the switches are all (19 of them) pneumatic. I helped Ken install them, but I have never installed them before. Where is your railroad located? We are in the great NorthWest.
I came from the Town of Clyde Hill & worked on The Puget Sound and Snoqualmie Valley Railroad Historical Society on the only last Northern Pacific 1881 Passenger Coach Car that wasn't burned! It actually saw action back in the late 1880's where I found old musket ball shot on the corners of that old car!! Now I am in Central Arizona on a 2 acre lot about to build my own "G" Gauge Railroad on the front half of my property!! I'm calling my new Railroad "Loco Hobo R.R." If you come down to Arizona on Hwy 89 in Wilhoit, South of Prescott, come see what I am doing!!!
Very cool Vinny! if we get to Arizona, we will definitely stop by.
Show and tell project in the beginning was really cool.
You have a nice club with some cool members. Fantastic outdoor train layouts!!!
What a great layout. Love the multiple loops and the logging segment. Hope mine gets that big some day. Is the switch station meant to stay outside? I want to put something like that in that's semi-permament and not sure what type switches to use. Or try to make a protective cover for it.
Hi! Yes the switch stand will be out all year, just covered to keep the wood sides in good shape. Ken has said he will paint the wood. The top is made of a plastic like poly that can weather any kind of weather. As for which type of switches to use, I like LGB electrics. This is the first time I have ever helped anyone install Air Pneumatic switches and I worry about how well they will over winter? Where is your railroad located in this old world. We are in the Pacific Northwest on Washington State.
Thanks for the explanation. I'm in Virginia, so rain and humidity are main threats.
@@coastaltitansrailroad We have the rain problem too, just not the humidity. Have you posted videos or photos of your railroad?
@gardenrailroadingjointhefu3379 yes, I have videos of the railroad on my channel @coastaltitansrailroad. I also have LGB turn outs on the layout and one of many projects is to control them from a central hub. Are the toggle switches weather-proof or are you and Ken expecting the cover to protect them? I might be over thinking how rugged it needs to be😀
@@coastaltitansrailroad Hi Again, yes the switch throws appear to be weather resistant, however he will be making a cover for them. For the time being he is just covering them with a plastic tarp after we are done running trains.
Hello there, I'm currently looking to build an elevated G scale railroad in my backyard. Something that I wanted to do since I was 7 years old. However, I don't know what to do first as far as building the elevated platforms where the track will be mounted. I have plenty of room in my backyard and I have a pretty good idea about the track plan and what I can do is actually make a brief video of what my future right of way will look like. I also need recommendations for track brands and materials etc. I never built anything like this before and I mostly model HO and N scale trains and I'm a member of 2 model railroad clubs in Northern New Jersey. The New York Society of Model Engineers NYSME and the Garden State Model Railway Club (GSN). Any advice and tips and pointers would be greatly appreciated for me to get started with this project. Thanks so much!
Hi Anthony, I assume you are located near South Jersey? I have done a terraced back yard railroad and a raised platform railroad in the front yard. A lot of what you build depends on your age (I'm 72) and how good your knees are? LOL. The video you watched on Azek decking for a raised railroad is a good example, however Robby of RLD hobbies in Illinois has built a wonderful multi track raised railroad with just treated lumber. The way to start is to lay track on the ground where you want you layout and outline it with spray paint of chalk to get the general shape. Then start setting posts and running stringers. Remember that, just like building a house, you do not want your stringers too long as they will sag. I do a max of four feet between setting posts. I would love to see some photos or a little video of your work.
Hi again, thanks so much for your reply! I'm actually in North Jersey but I'm a fan of south Jersey railroads. I'm 33 years old and I will be doing 99% of the work of building this railroad. I just uploaded a video of my yard where the future line will be. Do you have an email address so I can send you the video? Thanks again!
Great video Mark and what an awesome layout Ken. It makes mine look like a loop in the dirt, LOL. It was funny that the retired guy couldn't remember what day it is. Must me nice!!
Thanks Jerry!
Nice bridges. Can't wait until I build some of that caliber on my layout.
Thanks, I will tell Ken. Where is your railroad located? Ken is near Monroe and I am in the Maltby area.
@@gardenrailroading I'm not even in the state of Washington. I'm down south on the opposite end of the Cascades.
Excellent layout.
Thanks, I will tell Ken! It is really great.
Beautiful layout! My wife and I (mostly me) are starting to build the layout around our backyard pond in Mountlake Terrace this summer. Good to see local inspiration. I've had a loop in the basement ceiling for years that will get tied in one day, maybe I could come take a look at this layout or get some of you experienced folks out for a visit this summer. I've committed on battery power to my locos and RC controls but I've heard pneumatics are the way to go for turnouts, love to hear all about it some time. Thanks for the video.
Very cool, I am "Dead Rail" too, as are most of our club members. Have you visited may of the other railroads in the area?
@@gardenrailroading No we haven't. We need to get out this summer and see some for sure.
