A long standing secret finally burst out in the open during the 2010 World Cup Final.
Holland, the country of Cruyff, Bergkamp and Total Football, has another, more darker, side. It's no coincidence that Holland holds the record for the team with the most yellow cards in a World Cup (24 in 2010) and was part of the World Cup match with the most cards (16, Portugal vs Holland 2006). But it's not just a recent phenomenon. Van Bommel and De Jong are merely the last in long line of dirty, physical and mean Dutch players. Even the great sides of the 70s, 80's and 90's could turn a game into a nasty war, whenever needed. When the Dutch can outclass the opponent with technique and fancy passing patterns, that's what they'll do. But when they're faced with a stronger opponent, Holland's dark side appears.

I remember this. It was disgusting. I was rooting against Holland after that match shown in the beginning. But its not a secret. Holland has been the most violent team for a long time, with Brazil as a close second. Van Basten was a fantastic football player. But he was also a Hooligan. I wonder how many opponents he has send to the hospital. Roberto Carlos, he was a Criminal. Interesting that the two countries famous for attacking football are also famous for literally attacking the opponents.

The same conclusion has to be made when you watch Brazil. They have the most red cards and their players are infamous for being aggressive when Brazil is thrown out of the world cup by a rival side. 1974 vs Holland, 1978 vs Argentina, these were brutal matches and the Brazilian players had their fair share in these events.

Its funny, cause we (the dutch) always think we are complete sissies when it comes to rough or mean play. This video proofs us wrong. I like the theory on your website, where youre talking about playing rough as a deliberate tactic by the dutch. Maybe thats really true. Players like Van Breukelen, Van Hanegem, Israel and Neeskens also had a dark side, i think the video could have been even longer :). Nevertheless, im a proud Oranjesupporter and hope we will bring home a cup soon.

@ihnlChiv I understand your feelings. I'm Dutch myself and proud of many moments in the World Cup when we played great attacking football. I've made video's about that too!
But like many great teams, we've shown our dark side too. We shouldn't cover them up! My idea is to make video's exploring the dark sides of all the great teams. And it's only fair to start with my own country!
But don't worry, Brazil, Portugal and Argentina are next. No one is safe :D

this is very unfair. i bet the club/country you support,i could find clips of the players that foul.also some of these are on people that deserve it like busquets and c.ronaldo and one was simply pushing someone away from antagonising another player.finally most of these were from van bommel.1 player in 30 years of football.
