      Danny has covered this topic before, but when you include parts cost, R&D, marketing, retail markup.. the only way to make these speakers competitive for the average person is use cheaper parts. If Golden Ear were to use high grade component in their crossovers, this speaker would have to retail well over $2000, probably closer to $2500, which is a lot of for a bookshelf speaker, and the average person may not fully really appreciate the improvement this would make.

    • @George.___
      @George.___ Před 2 lety

      From what I have gathered anything ferromagnetic in the signal path can smear the sound because it’s stores energy. When the signal Peak goes the other way that stored energy drops in a finite amount of time and dissipates into the Signal through induction.
      This is the same reason you don’t want Iron Core Inductors on your tweeters or mid range drivers. The response to the signal is slower due to the stored flux in the iron core.
      Hope that helps.

    • @Kiwi_Col
      @Kiwi_Col Před 2 lety

      @@George.___ Thanks George, that sounds like a good explanation. I wondered 'coz I know someone who uses magnets (all with the same orientation) on his cables to improve sound quality; but when I tried it I found that the fine details start disappearing (he says it is more holographic). I hope to explain what is happening.

    • @e-zeescrossovers6188
      @e-zeescrossovers6188 Před 2 lety

      Mapping an existing crossover (creating a schematic) does not require having the speaker. It is best done by physical inspecting the crossover. Having the crossover in possession, allows for individual components to be measured in instances where their values are not labeled (common with inductors). If all components are labeled with values, than their connections can be mapped using quality photos of front and back.
