Tiny orphaned & endangered moon bear cub rescued!

- Our government partners in a distant province of Laos confiscated an illegally held orphaned moon bear cub (his mother likely killed by poachers). He was tiny, just months old & a few kg. For a cub that size every second counts & our government partners did their best to rush him to us, arriving in Luang Prabang 2 nights later where we had a quick vet check before heading up to the Cub Nursery of our #LuangPrabangWildlifeSanctuary for expert care.
In just a week he's already stronger, healthier & more confident. We're so pleased with his progress that his carer Miss Phet has been able to start giving him foraging & climbing lessons, just as his mother would be doing. Nervous & wobbly at first, it's incredible to see him making progress as each day passes.
This is our #119th bear rescued in Laos & the SMALLEST cub we've rescued in several years, since Beryl & Brenda in 2017 (we've rescued over 75 bears in Laos since 2017, the majority of them orphaned cubs not much older, watch Beryl & Brenda's beautiful story here: • Tiny Bear Cub Siblings... ).

How sad some people think they can kill a bear to take its cub, so lucky though is this one, wont end up being a Bile Bear.
Don't smile and laugh. That tiny infant ripped from his mother's arms is a tragedy.
The baby bear was found abandoned. It's mother was killed by poachers.....
