#Beck #WhereItsAt #LFRFamily - Zábava
He's talking about having two turn tables and a microphone. I thought he made it very clear. Get crazy with the cheese whiz.
Drive by body pierce
@@ryanagee5044 you know what it's about. 👍
@@ryanagee5044 Beat me to it. That's how I got my vaccine shots.
"the termite who's choking on a splinter"
Lol three of us on here gonna hit with the drive by ...definitely needs to do Loser
Most of the lyrics are beyond figuring out. He's just brilliantly weird. Check out his song Loser.
I've been listening to Beck since 1991.His lyrics always have these mysterious vibes.I think he intentionally writes songs that don't make sense, but they rhyme.I think it's genius.
‘91?! Holy shit
@@alexmalch He grew up in East L.A.
Dude. Van.
This brilliant artist used to sing and play guitar in the park down the street from my house. He's an originator (if I may use a form of the word), and a completely, award-winning music writing master. His catalogue Rules!
A poetic laureate for the inclined to the eclectic. 🤗🙌🥃
Everytime he says '2 turntables and a microphone' I keep having an image of the Beastie Boys doing 3 MCs and 1 DJ :)
Money Mark plays keys on it and Mario C and the Dust Brothers produced it, so it definitely has some beasties vibes for sure.
One of the illest tracks, EVER !
" but don't worry, I'll take care of ya ! "
if you like this... you would probably like the band Cake
Yes! Short Skirt Long Jacket, Frank Sinatra, The Distance
Or The Presidents of the United States....what a great Era in musid.
@A S Believe it or not, that's my favorite Cake song; I even like it better than the original 👍
Looooooove CAKE!!! Going the Distance would probably draw him in. Lol.
You may also like Beastie Boys, 311 and...a band that starts w/the letter D, can't freakin remember!
Beck is awesome. Always played around with different styles. You wouldn’t even know it was the same artist. I was lucky enough to see him live on this tour and it was amazing.
I saw him open for U2 on The Joshua Tree tour in San Diego (2017)…such a fab 1-2 punch!!! 💯
You should check out MC 900ft Jesus
Same. I’ve seen him live in Italy last summer. Beck’s level goes beyond anything, his music is unique, and that has been my favourite concert ever (I have seen many, trust me!)
the "2 turntables and a microphone" come from og hip-hop group Mantronix's 'Needle to the Groove'
Newcleus used that phrase as well…✌🏻
@@ThePittsburghToddy jam on it....
@@johntruxal432 Man, I’m never gonna tire of Jam on It! I’m 54 and will, on occasion, bust out a pop lock to that cut 😂🤟🏻✌🏻
I actually have the Mantronix cassette tape and a 12” vinyl of Jam on It.🖖🏼
A gem of a track
“Like when I wrote Devil’s Haircut I was feeling really… really… what’s that song about?”
Beck refuses to have a genre of any kind. You never know what hes going to say, if it's going to make sense, or it was or if it was even supposed to. It reminds me of that futurama episode when Bender said "oodalay is not a word" then Beck said, " Yes it is look it up in the Becktionary".
"No, no the rhyming becktionary."
Haha, I am not sure what he's talking about but I think it is just a vibe. Lol...... imo, it is kind of like abstract art, more about the feeling and he just sort of throws words on the "canvas" that evoke the vibe he's going for? I spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out his song "Loser" when it first came out and finally gave up. Lol.... but there are other songs where he is definitely using words in a more traditionally poetic sense, such as his song "Lost Cause" which and beautiful and poignant. I highly recommend "Loser" and "Lost Cause". Thank you for this, getting my morning off to a good start. :)
He ain't talking about shit, just rhyming random ideas.
Beck Odelay was a great album. He was different and came up with new sounds and unique lyrics!
Appreciate you for commenting on it my man.
Dude, Beck is an absolutely ridiculous winding rabbit hole. He’s a true artist
Love Beck. Saw him live way back in the day. Great show. He's so versatile and original.
I always loved Becks retro sound ....and very creative.
I'm almost 40. I still remember when the video was released on MTV back in the summer of 1996. It what always come on between 2pm-3pm for 2 consecutive months. Good days.
This was tons of samples, from Bootsie Collins to the Beastie Boys. He loves rap but is thumbing his nose at it and it became a huge hit single.
And I forgot about Miley's dad..lol. Good catch. Who would think I heard it on the radio this afternoon. Way too much Billy Ray.....
Love Bootsy
@@alphajava761 Dig it....
"That was a good drum break" is actually not even Beck speaking, but a sample from the song "I Don't Care If U Disrespect Me (Just So You Love Me)" by The Frogs. It's actually the first thing the singer says. here is the video: czcams.com/video/lysotgmS9FY/video.html
holy shit I never knew that lol
“That was a good drum break” is a Frogs sample/Quote. Awesome band that tons of influential early 90’s bands were into. I suggest the album “It’s only right and natural” 👊
The scene where Beck is wearing a tuxedo and you see 3 of him is a reference to Willam Shatner's (cap Kirk) performance at the 1972 science fiction awards of the song "Rocketman". The performance is legendary for how weird and goofy it was.
This is the beginning of when I heard Beck. This man has MANY musical styles. I Highly recommend "Colors" by Beck, the music video. But he blends, funk, pop, rap, rock or whatever else into whatever he wants, and it usually ends up sounding awesome.
You may recognize parts of the song from Futurama (if you ever watched that particular episode Beck was in) as for the Meaning in the Lyrics .. Not sure Beck could tell ya 😂 .. Good Vibe Music though
From what I understand, even though there are like a thousand samples jumbled in here, the actual electric piano line is just something Beck played himself. One of my favorite little licks to play on keyboard :D
"Loser" is a must. "Shave my face with some mace in the dark".....bomb lyrics
The genius of Beck is that he writes, plays and produces every instrument and he sings.
Jigsaw jazz = cutting together a puzzle of jazz samples
When Beck came out he was the hottest thing back in the day and that’s when I was at my prime in my 20s living my best life! I love this song and I love Beck, he’s a genius!
What a classic! Devil’s Haircut next
He's a music god.....not rap, not singing, not producing. He's just a genius.
Move through the room like ambulance drivers is the best line ever
Van you have a VOICE ! Beck has a voice too just quirky songs that are catchy like his " Girl "
Beck isn’t supposed to make sense… but he’s DEF Where It’s At!! Lmao 😎🔥🤘
Was BLESSED to se them as the opening act for the Beastie Boys News Years eve in Detroit 2001. I’ve seen the Grateful Dead live 8x with Jerrie Garcia but this is my #1 Show
This is from his album, "Odelay".
He’s not talking about anything. That’s what’s great about it. He’s an artist plain and simple.
That was that dance! Consider checking out loser and devils haircut
And The New Pollution
You can actually talk to the official director of this video, Steve Hanft on his official CZcams channel.
Trivia: This was the first EVER video played on MTV2, and Hanft used to be in a band with Spongebob creator, Stephen Hillenberg back in the 90’s.
'Odelay' by Beck is one of the gems of the 90s music! "Devil's Haircut" and "Odelay" are the best songs, imho.
and if you learn the Cotton-Eyed Joe song you absolutely MUST put it on the channel... lol
"Odelay" isn't a song, lol. Maybe you're thinking of Jackass.
@@youtubesucks1111 no.. i clearly was talking about the two best SONGS on the ALBUM called Odelay.
Jackass is also a pretty good song.
If you really want to know more about Beck, just listen to his earliest albums, he was essentially a homeless guy who worked as a leafblower; and lived in a garage. “One Foot in the Grave” is a great example of that in a single album imo.
Funny, we used to go late at night to the local coffee shop, that had an old jukebox, with Achy Breaky Heart on it . And every time that I left, I would play that song twice, for the patrons.
Beck's Guero album is phenomenal...
"Rock the most" comes from the Word of Mouth song "Coast to Coast"
There is so much depth and complexity to Beck . Virtually nobody is reacting to Beck save for this song and Loser. I encourage you to delve in. Black Tambourine, Dreams, Up All Night, Nicotine and Gravy, Summer Girl, Think I'm in Love, and so many others. (I realize this was from months ago but I hope you see this, he's an incredible artist.)
“Two turntables and a mic and I learned to rock like Dolemite” - Newcleus “Jam on it”
It seems to me, Beck has a word replacement randomiser and he applies it to nouns, so any noun can replace any random noun, and yet we get it!😂❤
man these are' great brotha, beck is one of a kind!!! would love to see you react to Queens Of The Stone Age - Give The Mule What He Wants or/and You Can't Quit Me Baby (play on words off Led Zeppelin)
Beck, one of the greats
The key to beck. He played small venues where the adience wasn't paying attn. He started singing random weird shit thT didn't really have a meaning. A star was born.
He's a DJ at a party. He's describing the events and people he's seeing as he mc's the party.
This song was in an episode of futurama where Bender joins Beck on tour and Fry and the gang follows them in an old hippie van." Loser" is a good song to check out.
One of the best things about Beck, especially in his earlier work, is about using lyrics to create visual mindscapes and not really about making statements. It was doing the opposite of standard lyrics in songs. His beats and rifts killed. His lyrics just added vocal cohesion to the song, and cool things to think about. Genius at the time.
Check out Beck singing on The Chemical Brothers - Wide Open ft. Beck. Awesome song with lyrics that make sense and the beautiful singer, ballet dancer, actress Sonoya Mizuno.
Beck is very popular... He is talking/rap slang from the 90's. You like this review band : Deee lite. Song: Grove is in the heart
Van, my man. Don’t overthink it. Just go w the flow bro.lmao your response 🤣✌️❤
Beck is so deep, varied and generational talent!
I loooooove this song
Beck is awesome. He ain't talking about anything. Just rhyming
Beck is a musical genius in his own right. He produces everything. You just have to ignore and dismiss the lyrics for the most part. Very few songs have a deep meaning, but he does have some. But his instrument play is phenomenal.
I am not a country fan; but my mom is, and she wanted to learn how to line dance during the Achey Breaky Heart era; so I learned that, and Brooks and Dunn's "Boot Scootin' Boogie", so I could teach her. 🤣🤣🤣
That was the electric slide line dance lol not the damn achy breaky heart
I thought it was called 'slap leather' ?
But, I'm not a dancer, or a country dancer, either ....
I have never understood anything he is talking about but the groove is good. The shit gets stuck in your head. Like years later that shit will pop in your head.
The "that was a good drum break" is in a song from The Frogs.
One of my fav reactionary
His style is stream of consciousness.
I love this line dance , I wanna learn how to line dance lol , great
Damn, I love that tambourine.
Another Beck song an awesome video is devils haircut
Yeeeeeeaaaaas
A mic can empower any loser. The song is self mockery. Beck is a self deprecating bad ass.
Beck is a genius.
Hello LFR family , this is a great song , I love it
I don't think we're supposed to know what he's talking about. That's why it's so amazing.
Becks wearing Candymans Outfit.
Two turntables and a microphone is referencing the beastie boys, Beck even sampled the robot voice from the original I think.
beck is like a mix of bob dylan's stream of consciousness and kool keith's stream of consciousness. hahaha
Great tune
He's talking about moving through the room like ambulance drivers! Duh! Lol
Ooooooh! We breaking open the Beckstionary now?!??!? And don't worry, I've been trying to figure out what the hell he's talking about for over 25 years at this point >XD
Beck is Beck
For me this song just always was like, here let's take all this and mix it together and see if it sounds good....OH HEY a hit!!! THIS IS FOR YOU INDUSTRY!! Very Tom Waits in attitude...there's a HUGE rabbit hole to fall in. Tom Waits Chocolate Jesus, Telephone Call From Istanbul, Sins of The Father, Clap Hands, Are You Satisfied?, Walk Away, Fish in The Jail House, Midnight Train, God's Away On Business...he was finally inducted into get this....The Blues Hall of Fame...Rock & Roll didn't know what to do with him since he crosses so many genres. Neil Young himself actually was the person who did his intro to Tom's stage performance at his induction. The wife and I highly reccomend it...funny stuff!!!!
This song is on my playlist when I am walking the grounds at my lil Walmart
FYI: That line dance was originally called "The Cotton Eye Joe". Ackey Breaky Heart came out after and people used the same moves.
It's art my brother. It doesn't have to make sense. It just has to move you. I challenge you to listen to Beck while sitting still.
You will see that dance in any country bar in texas lol. I'm not a big country music or bar fan but have still seen it my whole life in texas
That was a good drum breeaak
Beck is a nut job! Love his freak flag!
LOSER!!!!!!! must hear!
"I thought they were about to make sweet love in the corn field?"
Well, someone had to make the Children of the Corn, right? 😂
Beck is extremely underrated
THAT WAS A GOOD DRUM BREAK
I knew that organ groove was gonna get to you dude....😂😂😂
lol h gave the video ideas to different directors and gave them prompts like "a Christian health textbook"
Sample from Mantronix Needle to the groove
🔥🔥🔥
It's always funny when these youtubers try to understand what Beck's lyrics are about. A lot of his lyrics are abstract and free association, especially his earlier stuff. Don't try to hard to find the meaning, just enjoy the music.
You're wasting your time trying to make sense of Beck lyrics lol
Yep but it made perfect sense back then.
Beck - Paper Tiger or Modern Guilt - Completely different in style and composition. Very serious music production and lyrics.
Beck- Debra
Beck- Sexx laws
Beck- New Pollution'
These songs please (:
It’s just regular country line dancing, not specific to Achey Breaky Heart. But hilarious when they do it to an alternative rap song.
There’s a hilarious country line dancing scene in the video for Kings Of Leon’s song “King of the Rodeo,” too.
Saw him live in my 20s was amazing
