Is this better than horse hoof fungus . I used a fungus once to do the same thing. I had a small spot that was glowing and i thought I would put it out and save it for later even though it was a large fungus I scratched it with my knife but then instead of one little coal I had 12 coals. To get it put out i had to turn it upside down and then scratch it with my knife so the 12 little scattered coals fell out instead of making 144 coals. It was an interesting experiment.
I can't begin go thank you enough for everything that you do to teach us, a million thanks, I'm praying for you and your family
Donny, you gained another sub. Great seeing you doing what you love, brother. Semper Fidelis old friend.
Thanks brother. Hope all is well with you. Thanks for the sub. Stay in touch and let me know if you are ever in my neck of the woods!!!! Yut!!!
I'm rooting for you on the show, Goodluck.
Very good 👍
We don't have aspen here but we have similar fungus on hardwoods that do the same.
Love the cave
I have only done this with the birch polypore, but it works the same way. Was not even aware that aspen had conchs
In the midwest, we have a similar fungus that only grows on black locust called cracked cap. It needs a bit more attention to keep it smoldering
Here in Britain we would use the Horse Hoof fungus for transporting an ember, its also where one could make Amadou from, a very useful fungi.
Awesome video donny. Please keep uploading videos very informative.

Are there similar resources that could be found in the eastern woodlands?
#AspenConk thnxs for uploading
How would u carry it around on a long walk about
No worries. I wound carry it between the splits in a nice piece of living seep willow, or drill a hole in it and put it on a piece of cordage.
@@DonnyDustsPaleoTracks Thanks
I don't understand why, only 4K followers... 😒
Not to be greedy but I would have taken 2 that size and lit one off of the other.
