    No offense, but as soon as you said "... my own handloads..", I knew where the issue came from. Thanks for sharing.

    Thank you for sharing. I lot of guys would have been too proud to admit such a thing. I’m glad you are ok, and you are probably saving others from the same fate.
    As for the barrel...I build (rather assemble) a lot of high end ARs, and considering one can buy a very good quality barrel for $350 to $600 (for a Bartlien), I’d probably scrap it. I’ll be eagerly awaiting your follow-on videos.

      I considered that. I'm fairly confident it's not unsafe. I was able to shoot sub-MOA groups so I'm interested to see if I can repeat that once re-built. Interested to then compare the DD barrel as well.

      Agree go with a Bartlien or White Oak Armory barrel.

    Really great info! You are a very humble and kind man to share all this and so scientifically well explained! Very appreciative and I sent this to all my buddies who reload 556 and 300 to show them how this could happen. Thanks and God Bless!

    As someone that handloads 5.56 and 300BLK I go through great pains to mark every loaded cartridge using a sharpie. Black for 300BLK (duh) and red for 5.56. An unmarked hand load is suspect when loading. On top of that I have either bought dust covers stenciled with 300BLK or556, or I use a label maker to mark the rifle with its caliber until I can buy dust covers. Finally, I keep my black mags for blackout only and the dark earth for 556. This last part is often a problem when loading up a day’s worth of shooting so I put black tape on dark earth when I’m running extra blackout. I’ve been doing this since 2010. Knowing just how dangerous this mixup is, I put as many visual cues to avoid the issue. So far so good. Oh, and I NEVER carry a mix of both calibers in my range box. When I’m shooting a mix, two ammo boxes are carried. Discipline is better than having an expensive firearm turning into scrap or worse.

    I had come around looking for reviews of Noveske BCG. I take one look at your table and on the bottom right I'm instantly informed of what happened. Huge props to you for owning it. Rough and unlucky. Glad you didn't get seriously hurt.

    Spec the barrel, if it measures out then I’d say you’re probably fine! However if your life depends on this barrel, I would replace it! And yes, billet is stronger than forged. Particularly when it comes to a blow out such as yours.

    Glad you weren't hurt bud. Do you mind of I share some of this video on my TikTok? I have over 80K followers on that platform. I think this is a valuable warning to other gun owners to be extremely careful when they are shooting 5.56 and 300 BLK. Very potentially dangerous situation. Of course, I would give you video credit. Thx. All the best.

    As far as a noveske receiver being better than any other receiver all receivers are forged in I don't know three to four different forges and they all put their little Mark on it so noveske receiver Anderson receiver same damn thing paying for the name but they are all made very well

  • @GunNtonic

    Meh...The entire load/pressure went out of the mag well. I'd use the barrel again as long as there is no visible sign of oops on the feed ramp/ chamber area. Stay safe.

    A costly overlook luckily you were not injured. Things happens out logic precedes us 30 cal would not chamber in 22 barrel but in your case it did and it also go bang. My practice of shooting only 5.56 NATO brass in NATO setup small case resize the tolerance and head space between 223 Rem and 5.56 NATO are different.

    Thank you for investigative mind to follow through and find out why. When I cut down 5.56 brass to make 300 Blk this was going through my mind could I one time over look the 2 and mix things up. So I take a permanent marker and draw a line across head stamp of 300 Blk for mental note.

    • @FirearmTutorials
      @FirearmTutorials  Před 5 lety +1

    Let my brother take some of my rifles to the range by himself. Went through and checked all the ammo I sent with him just to make sure they where separated just because they where loose in ammo cans. Comes home yeah a casing got stuck in your rpk I looked and said well yeah that’s cause there’s a .223 casing in there. He had it loaded midway in the mag and it loaded and cycled into the gun fired and everything. It was a 7.62 rpk popped out the casing checked the rifling barrel seems fine. But idk just thought of mention that said it hit the steel when he shot that round. Idk I thought that was a little interesting
