The section from 44:40 - 44:55 is so lovely how the audio meshes perfectly with Vinny's bouncing, and even some more parts throughout the level.

I honestly kind of loved the Luigi's level romhack. It paints a nice little picture of Luigi's personality and the fact that he opened up a virus from Bowser is great.
44:20 That music sounded so familiar that I had to open my old DS and I knew it. It's the local multiplayer lobby theme from Bomberman 2, played that game a lot as a kid, especially the battle mode.
Thank you! The song sounded so catchy but I had no idea what it was from. At first it sounded like “Endless Possibilities” from Sonic Unleashed as if it were a special stage.

@@BananaPhoPhilly The game is also extremely newbie friendly compared to other hacking scenes, but has just as high of a skill ceiling as any other, meaning every couple of years new blood gets pumped to it. For some reason some communities see the accessibility as a bad thing (primarily the Sonic hacking community, funnily enough).
SMW hacking and his comunnity is amazing i hope it lasts forever because i love playing SMW hacks.
Also i love when Vinny stream them, it warms my heart.

Holy shit! So first we get the elevator music from the SNES Jurassic Park game at 21:28, and then we get super sped up music from the fire level in the SNES game Axelay at 24:20. This rom is amazing.
That _Super Luna Game_ reminds me of that old creepypasta where the Flash game got interrupted with a creepy smile of Pinkie Pie (Pinkimena) popping out of the screen to the point of taking your files and replace them with her image.
That wasn't a Flash game. That was just a game you downloaded.
It was called Luna Game, so judging by the title (I haven't seen the level yet), it might be an intentional reference
The sprite seems to be a match, and the first part definitely felt inspired by the appearance of it.
Kinda wished it stuck to that style instead of devolving into “ROMhack = glitchy graphics everywhere”
This was super fun to watch live! It was great that you witnessed some of the really silly entries like FISHE, but there's honestly so many great entries you didn't get to see that I would be super down to watch another stream of this.
Either way, I encourage others to check out the other levels from the Questionable Level Design Contest, lots of funny stuff to experience. ALSO, submissions just recently closed for the 2nd full-scale QLDC, it's worth checking those levels out too.
I was looking forward to seeing if the entry a friend and I worked on would be featured in the pack, but was disappointed to find out that it wasn't. Unfortunate, especially given it even got a distinction trophy of "More Cryptic than Season 1 of Lost", meaning it'd be delightful to see Vinny's crust brain try and process the quiz portion of the level.

@@MegaMarioMan9 Yeah he 100% wouldn't be able to understand how to progress at one point. He'd likely get the bad ending and then give up, not realizing he has to press start during a specific dialogue screen (which is very clearly hinted at by the dialogue being highlighted in a different color) to proceed to the actual level portion.
To me, heaven has to be like a cross between a Vinesauce video and chicken n' winnigish. I could have a leg in one hand and a 59:11 in the other

It sucks that the creativity of these hacks is often undermined by romhack difficulty and required glitch knowledge
I'd say take Vinny's experiences with ROM hacks with a grain of salt. The entries showcased in the pack he played are not indicative of the difficulty of the majority of levels submitted to the contest, which weren't included. Vinny's reliance on save states and rewinds also gives the hacks a misleading difficulty, since he's not bothering to learn anything at all due to a lack of patience, making them appear to be worse than they actually are.
There's a reason why the community recommends not using those two when playtesting their stuff, because in the past that's exactly what caused many hacks to have unbalanced difficulty. Modern hacks are far more approachable on average, usually being more than beatable on original hardware.
That's kinda the trappings of trying to squeeze a bunch of small things into a stream segment, not everything makes for good material for this kinda format.

I agree on the difficulty aspect but I think most hacks these days come with a readme that would explain any obscure tech required. Maybe not the more shitposty ones but that comes with the territory I suppose.
