Mary Banotti's death reported on RTÉ News (11th May 2024)

RTÉ News reports on the death of the former Fine Gael MEP from Dublin Mary Banotti. A grand-niece of Michael Collins, Clontarf-born Ms. Banotti, whose younger sister Nora Owen served as a Fine Gael TD and minister for many years, was first elected to the European parliament in 1984, retaining her seat until her retirement in 2004, and was appointed as Ireland's first Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in 1999.
