zachmuhn...that was hilarious! I've seen these guys live. I had a broken arm with a plaster. I felt like ripping it off, eat it, and hit the ride with my broken arm! I launched myself on the drum kit. Chippendale and "the other guy" are amazing.
I saw lightning bolt at the echo in LA a few years ago. It was insaine! drummer was in my face and he kept spitting at people. So many cool hipsters spazing out every where.
omg i love these guys and seriously, whats better than being shot in the head by sound waves coming from a radio. If i tuned in when this was happening id have shit myself.
I don't think anybody should argue about any music. They should like what they like, and dislike what they dislike, but keep those opinions to themselves. Lightning Bolt is classified as "Noise Rock." Not a very popular or beloved genre. Still, even though it's different, it shouldn't be considered degenerate.
@otherside65 Actually he does. He's an insanely well trained musician. They may jam out at shows here and there but I've seen them a couple times now and they will even have some of the same "jam" sections in between certain songs.
not many words to describe how jelous i am of people in that room. the late john peel and lightning bolt. why oh why......look at that bastard go. cant even see his individual strokes thanks to the quality of the vid
@jfc999 They came to Detroit last summer and played with Wolf Eyes. I swear, I think they brought a demon into the venue that night. I'm pretty sure I was crying by the end of their set, but I cant remember. It was such a blur.... ...Oh, and In the middle of "Sound Guardians", they overloaded they buildings fuse box, and shorted out the whole room for about 10 minutes. I thought that was pretty cool.
@Mushman34 they ought to give Tom Ravenscroft the ten o'clock slot vacated by Colin Murray and currently occupied by the vapid Nick Grimshaw. the old Peel slot.
Why must it always be who is better then who. Mike Portnoy and Dream Theater are more Progressive Metal, focusing on a bit more classical, structured approach to their music. Lightning Bolt is more abstract and noisy. They are not only 2 completely different styles of music, but also 2 completely different approaches to writing and playing their instruments.
@AlfoRock12 Doesn't really matter. I swear there was some kind of strange energy field surrounding the drummer Brian Chippendale when he got off stage.
Why does everyone forget about Brian Gibson. He is far one of the most underrated bassist. he shreds. as far as chippendale's drumming. it wouldnt be half as god without the bass. and vice cersa for the drums. chippendale is way better than Gabe, as wells as more creative.
Haha, you just insinuated Brian Chippendale didn't know how to drum - and that Brian Gibson didn't know how to play bass. That's a pretty good one. Too bad they don't just play two chords and sing songs about smoked cheese. That'd prove they knew music - and you know, just be so overwhelmingly great in general.
@ hotxleperd He is far from the best drummer ever...and I'm a huge lightning bolt fan. What makes Brian Chippendale so awesome is the fact that he plays fast at all times during long-ass shows. He's good at fills, but TeaBitch89 is correct in saying that Gabe from The Locust is better.
doesn't matter how good he is. His shit was illogical too. Playing drums is no proof of knowledge in this case. He's talking about other drummers and how their skills compare. If you play drums or not, it doesn't matter. You just have to know music.
Dude where are you? You came here in 2010 to say lightning bolt are shit, then you did it again in 2014. It's 2019 - high time you called the band garbage once again!
dont see why everyone rates this guy, most if not all drummers can do this, its just playing fast, no real fuckin structure apart from tryong to follow a basic rythm. check out gabe from the locust for real skills
I did, and they still sucks. I don't have a clue? How about you give Yes, Gentle Giant, Genesis, ELP etc. a listen, -then- talk to me about "having an idea about what I'm talking about". There's music, there's bad music, and then there's pure shit (e.g. Lightning Bolt).
"You may not be ready for this but your kids are gonna love it."
you really get a sense of just how loud they are and how fast Chippendale actually plays.
You've got to see this band live. It's the only way. It's like PURE ENERGY. Totally remarkable.
Oh man. Brian Gibson when he was sporting the helmet hair
It amazes me that there was once a time that I didn't think this music was brilliant.
zachmuhn...that was hilarious!

Chippendale and "the other guy" are amazing.
Amazing. They were great at ATP last year too, finished the weekend off perfectly. 2Morro Morro Land is a tune.
Awesome for years....
i miss john peel, radio is all the blander without him and his crazy music taste.
God dammit a full video of this MUST exist, I have a recording of this entire show!
Just when you think a band is already insane, a great live video of them prooves you wrong...again.
I love the noise, I love the energy. Amazing band.

John Peel was a genius,he always like it give a chance to the new bands.

so mad seeing them in a studio - looks all the more mental.

I saw lightning bolt at the echo in LA a few years ago. It was insaine! drummer was in my face and he kept spitting at people. So many cool hipsters spazing out every where.
So bad ass

this video gives you serious blue balls
omg i love these guys and seriously, whats better than being shot in the head by sound waves coming from a radio. If i tuned in when this was happening id have shit myself.

amazing as always

I know like what the hell... It's basically like an hour of constant gnarlyness and he can totally do it.
Does anyone have the rest of this? PPPPPLLLLLLLEEEEEEEAAAAAASSSSSEEEEEE!!!!!!
bahahaha this band is too awesome for words
Wawawawayayayayayayayaaaa!
makes me proud to be from Providence.
so frustrating when it cuts out at the end... i would like to see the rest.
@jfc999 Yeah man , I hear ya. Never seen em but seen plenty of their live clips. Look AWESOME!

I believe this is from 31st March 2004.
fucking fastest tightest drummer in existance
@jfc999 You're damn right.. No band in the world has as much performance energy as Lightning Bolt.
Eddie Cochran.
torcido y deskisiado...
no hay mas sinonimos
It's fascinating how Brian G. is so calm and collected during this audio nuclear bomb while Brian C. is fucking ALL OVER THE PLACE
Brian kicks so much ass.
Well, both of them xD
enjoy the rest of your life..
RIP

Note how he says Lighting Bolts 0:20
@jfc999

oh okay. i didnt know that thanks for telling me
@mw2727
think i remember reading somewhere that he uses banjo strings on his bass
OCTOPUS!
@Mushman34 they ought to give Tom Ravenscroft the ten o'clock slot vacated by Colin Murray and currently occupied by the vapid Nick Grimshaw. the old Peel slot.

GNproductions13 you need to read a book called "Logic: A Very Short Introduction" by Graham Priest
they probably killed him with this stuff.
that's all i got! bummer, i know....
@AlfoRock12 Doesn't really matter. I swear there was some kind of strange energy field surrounding the drummer Brian Chippendale when he got off stage.
I feel for their neighbours :D
got that too, but it's one track. Needs splitting.
@FreshHex i wish man, i've had the full recording for years now, but ahve never managed to find more video than this...
Why does everyone forget about Brian Gibson. He is far one of the most underrated bassist. he shreds. as far as chippendale's drumming. it wouldnt be half as god without the bass. and vice cersa for the drums. chippendale is way better than Gabe, as wells as more creative.
hahaha
Jesus... they destroyed that fvcking place
I wonder how many drumsticks the drummer break per year.
The video on my player froze but the music kept going.... the speed of their hands is too fast for youtube!
Haha, you just insinuated Brian Chippendale didn't know how to drum - and that Brian Gibson didn't know how to play bass.
That's a pretty good one.

@lostfeelinggonegone you clearly have never heard of Gabe Serbian.
okey...his rich now
haha no problem, just saying that if he plays drums, doesn't mean he makes videos.
2morro Morro Land
@TeaBitch89 you are correct in saying Gabe is better. Check out my Locust drum covers if you have the time ;-)
whats the song name?
@zemechanism cryin shame.
Is the whole show on youtube?
Your dad played his drumset?
@jfc999 Stoned, Drunk or Sober?
Tony Hawk's?
fodaseeee....

opps wrong thumb

they know how to play theirs instruments?
@crashbreakerr c'mon man, Chippendale FTW, and if you play any better (HAHA) upload a video
LOL!!! like what you said... but... no.
yeah but dream theater really really sucks a lot
doesn't matter how good he is. His shit was illogical too. Playing drums is no proof of knowledge in this case. He's talking about other drummers and how their skills compare. If you play drums or not, it doesn't matter. You just have to know music.
Your sentence was very illogical.
This is the worst thing I've ever heard in my life.
I bet you were just born when you said that
Dude where are you? You came here in 2010 to say lightning bolt are shit, then you did it again in 2014. It's 2019 - high time you called the band garbage once again!
@@konstantinjarkov if you're alive read my comment, this guy is just jealous that folk and country is no match for this kind of unique masterpiece
@@RideTheVoid I hope Spyes23 is doing fine
dont see why everyone rates this guy, most if not all drummers can do this, its just playing fast, no real fuckin structure apart from tryong to follow a basic rythm.
