    Hey Mei. I actually get way more sales selling on Amazon FBA than selling on Etsy. Etsy sales are sooo slow. Now I put more energy and money into my Amazon store due to the results I get. It's interesting how some sellers do well on different marketplaces compared to others. You just have to find what works best for your handmade business.

      @@duvalkMAS I was going to ask the same thing. FBA seems like it would only be profitable if you sell tons of the same exact item with color variations, or something like that. I don't see how it would be practical if everything you sell is a one-of-a-kind handmade item.

    Hi there! Tundra is not actually "free" you pay a hefty monthly fee to be in the platform. They deduct from your bank account monthly regardless if you have any sales or not. If you want sales, you have to pay higher fees and upgrade for them to market your brand. It's a catch-22.

    Hi Mei. I currently have a Shopify website for my shop. Sales have been slow lately and I’m starting to struggle financially. I’ve been debating whether or not to open an Etsy shop as a side income. But Etsy’s fees make it hard for me to decide.

    • @jordanwhite1420
      @jordanwhite1420 Před 2 lety +19

      I'm not Mei, but I've been on etsy for over 10 years (2 shops). I can honestly say that it's become harder & harder to make sales there, and is expensive. You are charged transaction fees on both your product AND the shipping. It's currently 5 %, and will be raised to 6.5% in April. On top of that, you pay for credit card processing fees of 3%+, along with a minimum 10% fee for ads that they supposedly run (you can opt out of that, but then, surprisingly, you get buried at the bottom of search). So, I guess this is a long way round of saying that I, for one, would NOT suggest Etsy as an alternative to a standalone website.

    • @CreativeHiveCo
      @CreativeHiveCo  Před 2 lety +8

      Hi Angel! I would suggest you build your own Shopify website first before considering on opening a secondary shop. Hi Maria! Great question! If you can, I always highly recommend having your own website right from the get-go. It's more reliable and gives you more room for growth in the long run. Shopify is a great platform to build your own website/online shop on.

      Each has its unique strengths depending on your goals and target audience. However, I highly recommend having your own website as well. It acts as your central hub online where you have full control over your content and brand, and you can direct your audience there to learn more about you and your work. It also gives you a professional presence that enhances your credibility in the field.
