  • This edition of PGA TOUR Profiles looks back at the historic 2003 Presidents Cup in which the U.S. and International teams tied. With the Republic of South Africa’s President Thabo Mbeki serving as the honorary Chairman, and Ernie Els playing in front of a home crowd at The Links at Fancourt Hotel and Country Club Estate, the event was symbolic beyond golf.

    Love that there's finally some footage of that epic Tiger-Ernie exchange on CZcams.
    One of my favourite Ernie moments: buries that 6-footer, twirls the putter as he walks it in. The way he looks up as he pulls the ball out of the hole, you know he's ready to play ten more.

    Jack and Gary, 2 of the greatest of all time, understand that at the end of the day winning isn’t everything truly a great story and example for generations

    "according to the rules, the US would retain the cup"
    "in that case we'll see you tomorrow" - Player

    Pure class by Team USA...the 2019 cricket world cup final had a similar ending...but England could not find the same thoughts of USA to share the cup..it was a tie in regulation time..then a tie again in a play off..but New Zealand ended up losing and ENG won..shame for the game of cricket after maybe the best game of cricket ever

    Probably the strongest ever International side; Ernie and Retief in their primes, Vijay at the top of the PGA Tour money list, Mike Weir the reigning Masters champion.

    Remember it was Jack who gave the putt to Jacklin. Two of the most pressure putts or holes in Ryder/President Cup came from this event. Tiget putt was insane but Ernie making on top? Langer's putt in "War at the Shore" the following year DL3 6 footer vs Rocca. After Davis by looking around, seeing everyone watching he knew the cup came down to his match. Later on he was qouted said "I wanted to bend over, grab my knees and puke"

    If Jack suggests something, you must listen. He is the man.

    Tim Clark who played on the International Team....."Tiger's putt was a putt you just do NOT make..it was THE most difficult putt I've seen him make...breaking two ways, downhill, dark"...The RIGHT way to televise that putt would be with worm-cam! It's NOT that difficult to figure...

    This is how the 2019 Cricket World Cup should have finished...

    So, how about they go back to the Links Fancourt again. This will remain as unfinished business of golf match in history of the tournament.

    It's amazing what power those individuals have, and to make a decision like that is very impressive. I am honored that they are my role models.

      My problem is the fact that your Nicklaus comments are complete BS.

    • @joelmcnultymusic
      @joelmcnultymusic Před 5 lety

      @ITubaUTuba If you were there you wouldn't be so ignorant of what happened. I know more about Jack, golf than you know about anything closely related. You're out of your league here, Rube.

    • @joelmcnultymusic
      @joelmcnultymusic Před 5 lety

      @ITubaUTuba A deliberately skewed description of what happened. There was zero "adamant" anything on the part of Nicklaus, and within no time, with some daylight still remaining....after the match being stopped because of the the darkness setting in....Nicklaus gladly offered a legitimate tie, and Player accepted. Jack was in fact criticized by some in the US media for not finishing the match the next day or flat out lobbying for a tie resulting in retaining the cup. Again, you're in over your head here. Go spread your ignorance on a Putt Putt video. That's more likely in your wheelhouse.

      @ITubaUTuba It's quite telling that you're latching on to a dude on CZcams agreeing with you. I outlined step by step how things happened. Do you think Gary Player, Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, Tim Finchem would back me or you here? That's rhetorical, by the way.
