Bukom Banku takes centre stage at Homowo Twin Festival & Rituals colourful rich culture on Display.
    Twins “Ye Yee Ye” Festival
Join our expert guides for a unique insider look at the neighbourhood’s annual ‘Twins Festival’ street party scheduled for Friday 12 August 2022.
Every August sees Jamestown come alive with the traditional Twins Festival (named the Ye Yee Ye festival), as part of the region’s month-long Homowo celebrations.
It’s a special celebration of twins of all ages, traditionally believed to bring good luck. Dressed in white calico, local twins parade through the town to the spiritual house of the Ga Mashie. It truly is a sight to behold.
On our unique tour you will:
Go inside the home of local twins to watch the intimate rite of passage ceremony
Get front-row seats to the “twins” street parade
Eat “otɔ”, a meal of yam, palm oil and eggs prepared especially for this special day
Drink local Star Beer at the street party
Watch the traditional annual boat race between local fishermen
See the intimate workings like you never could as a normal tourist
Or take a special tour of any of the events within our annual Homowo Festival, month-long annual remembrance of pre-colonial Ghana, when the Ga-Mashie people suffered a famine. It literally means to “hoot at hunger” to drive it away. The festival culminates in an annual street party based around Twins Day or “Ye Yee Ye festival”.

This earth that we live in is a spiritual element and will definitely exhibit it's spiritual powers through it subjects . Mary and Joseph parents of Jesus were on their way to a cultural festival in their hometown when Jesus was born on the way. Think about this and stop condemning african cultural observations.

The name of the festive food is called kpokpoi not kpekple. Learn your language well. Let's promote african culture with dignity and stop putting on shameful dresses under this dignified cutural occasion.

She was only joking. Like you said, she doesn't know her history. If she does, she would have known that the GA's are not from Ghana.
